Plays videos very well and menus easy to navigate. Setup was not great but only for wifi. Only real negatives with the player is that when you hook an HDD to it, the initial discovery and indexing of the media is extremely slow AND slows menu navigation to the point of unusability while it is indexing. Other issue is the wifi radio seems weak in terms of range. Player sitting next to other wireless devices but reports 1 or 2 bars and thruput pauses or freezes on netflix while other wifi devices do not.

Great media player play just about any files out there. Have 1 tb ext dr and 2 tb portable dr connected and plays all my files.

We had an old WD device and I decided to get this newer one for another TV so we could connect the two. However, came to find out that it does not offer Amazon instant video! This was a deal breaker so I went and returned it in favor of a Roku. I did like the WD and was able to plug in my hard drive like I needed to, but I am really loving the Roku- the WD is easy to use but not as easy as Roku.

Good product for streaming video, promotes clear and precise picture quality. This product will freeze from time to time.

The streaming content works great but it can be a bit dodgy on reading network media.

This is a great media player for playing mkv, mp4, MPEG, etc. You can also stream video from any dlna device wirelessly

Plays at lot of different formats (.avi, mp4, mkv, etc). Customizable themes. Relatively easy setup. The only problem is that the USB ports don't power off completely after you shut down the WDTV, so the drive lights stay on. I just shut off the power strip.

This device is remarkably flexible and can handle every video format I've thrown at it. The only downside is that it sometimes "loses" the connection to the network drive to which it is connected. I finally found the solution on the Internet, which was to designate my media server as the "Master Browser" and disable the ability (through the registry) for the other machines in my Windows 7 Workgroup from becoming the "Master Browser" when an "election" is held. (You can Google for full info on how to do this using all these keywords: "Western Digital" "Master Browser" "Windows 7" Workgroup Registry). It's not too complicated to do, and once that is fixed, this device is truly fantastic!

Hooked this thing up, updated the firmware, and connected it to a slingbox. Downside is that it's super-slow to respond, even on a fast internet connection. Major wait time between button press and device response. Not a bad product overall though.

I ordered this product to replace an Apple TV. I was fed up with it's lack of codec support, mainly MKV's. It is perfect for my needs. It can take videos off of USB drives or a network share.

I still don't no how to set favorites but it does everything I needed it to do and more like the way I can hide it and control it with I pad or phone so it doesn't need line of site.

I've used other products like this and they restrict what you want to watch or don't allow you to watch your stored movie collection. I love this product and it's ease of use.

The best media player out there if you want to view files from a usb device. Very simple to use. I recommend updating the firmware from WD's site to ensure it has the latest.

Makes My life easier since I don't have a smart TV. Works better than my Samsung blue Ray player.

I've tried several different methods for extending my collection of home movies to our TV, all of which are stored in various formats on a network attached drive in my basement. None of the options met my expectations until using the WD TV Live Media Player. Every file I have created over the years works flawlessly on the WD TV Live Media Player. My biggest complaint is the UI for locating files is ugly. You need to traverse file folders and find the appropriate file by name. I'd prefer a more UI rich experience. Fortunately there are community created options available to download to change the UI, however I'm still trying to figure out how to apply them correctly. Overall, I'm satisfied with the performance and usability of the WD TV Live Media Player.

Easy to hook up and very easy to use. I installed it and it automatically ran its updates and was ready to use in no time. Very simple to use and works like a champ. Would definitely recommend to any considering buying.

I love this media player so much, I have bought it twice. As someone who has quite a library of video files, I wanted something that could play what I had as well as link to streaming sites if needed. This box does that. Best of all, it lets you organize your videos and upload from your local network. It also has intuitive playback features other boxes do not. For example, we have a folder named "Cartoons" and inside of that, folders of different cartoons (e.g., Futurama, Simpsons). By clicking "play" on one of the folders, it will shuffle all of the items in that folder (even if separated by season). By clicking "play" on the Cartoons folder, it will shuffle all of the many cartoons we have, regardless of how many folders or seasons.

Works the way I was hoping it would with tv and computer. Easy to hook up to my system.
