After reviewing all the different "media players" on the market, I chose this one for it's ability to play video files via it's USB port with a thumb drive or portable hard drive. This feature works GREAT!!! So far, MKV and MP4 files work with no problem. Additionally, you can also play files through your WIFI. It also has a great selection of pre-loaded channels you can view as well. I bought this over Black Friday weekend for $89 which made the value even better.

I picked this up and was able to it setup within 10 min. set up wireless connection to my router and works perfect, no issues at all. Easy to use and dependable.

I read a lot of reviews for these products and it came down between the Roku and the WD TV Live. I chose the WD TV Live since it has the best playback support if you have a USB HDD full of movies and WD has the BEST support for all the codecs to play all types of movie files. The unit was easy to set up and I tested both the WiFi connection and Ethernet connection performance and they were both very good. The main problem I have is that I have to reboot the WD TV Live several time each week because there is often no sound on YouTube and HuluPlus. I have updated the firmware from WD but did not help. I also have AT&T for my internet service and this could be from them. I tried returning the unit to the store and received another one but still shows the same problem. If you don't have a USB HDD full of movies, they you may want to get a Roku. Enjoy.

I bought this unit for my theater room so that I can stream and play my downloaded movies through my av system. So far the system has played all video and file types I have thrown at it. I wish there were more apps for this system like hbogo, but overall I have been very pleased with this unit

I think that this product has potential but it takes too long to respond to commands. I contacted the customer service department and he said that they were aware of the problem but haven't fixed it yet. As a result I am returning it.

I can view all my movie files. pictures and music with no problem. No freezing up or nothing like that, perfect for me, I bought 2 of them.

Overall, a good product after having a little bit struggle of installation. HDMI connection to this unit is really needed to be pushed in; otherwise, TV doesn't recognize the unit. In my case, media didn't stream at all with WiFi connection, ended up using with Powerline Ethernet.

Pulls video, photos, and music from Wi-Fi or via USB plug-in. HD compatible. Easy to use. Plays every type of video file I've thrown at it.

Performs well. Setup would be easier with a keyboard. Searches could also be better with a keyboard. Missing Amazon and HBO Go, but selection is still better than most. This my second unit and quite happy with them both.

This box is great! Uploaded all my DVD's to external drive and networked with this box, now I can watch what I want, when I want and don't have to search for the DVD. Loved it so much, got another one for my kids room.

I was worried it would be hard to figure out how to use this, super easy to install and use.

Bought this for my In-laws and it plays any file they try, all pictures all video. Easy for them to use and very easy to install.

I've been looking for a media player that I could attach an external hard drive to, that would also play the many different files types that I have. This thing is perfect for all my needs! I can play avi, mkv, mp4, etc without any problems. Netflix works great too! The only thing I would say is that sometimes it does take a while for it to boot up, but other than that this has worked flawlessly for me.

Works great with any type of file out there. it dose great with flash drives all the way up to my 2TB with out a single issue.

The device plays a thumb drive in many formats on Your big screen HD TV with a great picture and takes 2 minutes to set up.

This product is amazing. We have a great library of movies on this and very easy to use!

Has hulu and Netflix and you can set up shortcuts on the remote to access what you want directly. It plays most formats from my computer without needing to run DLNA server. Reads subtitles The only reason for 4 stars is that it doesn't support hbo go yet

This is my second model. it works better than he first and fulfills all of my network video streaming needs. device is small and remote works well. I did swap it with a learning remote for convenience.
