This is the 6th WD media player I own. I have them on every tv in my house.. compliments any home theater system.

I bought this player so I can access my Sling Player from another room. Awkward interface for Sling player, did not meet my expectation as a remote Sling player. I returned it. Other functions seem to work well especially playing DVD folders.

I was giddy to read that the new WD media player plays AVCHD files. Sadly, when it came to Canon files, it would not recognize them. I am now praying for a firmware update to remedy this. Also, it takes quite a while to scroll through pictures.

I was looking a good reliable streaming device that would support iso, avi, vob file format and WD TV Live will do it without a problem. Device is small, sleek, and very portable.

I love these devices, and have had every one since the beginning, they have always worked and worked well. Streaming is awesome, and it really shines with media from an external drive, or a NAS. I use these for my kids, so it is necessary that they are able to shut down with the TV. Well, they can't. HDMI CEC does work to a point, and that's where it ends. All other features of CEC work perfect, except for that, so when the TV's power down, this device keeps streaming. I am sure they will get to it in a firmware update, but until then I have to use different devices. Otherwise, if that feature is not important to you, do not hesitate, these are near perfect devices.

Got this idea from a friend who sword by it. This is a great way to watch your movie collection that is one Digits without having to hook up your computer or lug it around if you are gonna watch someplace other than your home. Just plug any mobile media that has movies on it and you are good to go. In addition it is a great way to turn your TV into an app TV.

This for people who want to watch video in any format . Good device

Travel for great for traveling with hard drives to store movies. Lite, small, and transportable.

We had a "disconnected" TV in our bedroom that was practically useless.. until we purchased this WDTV! After plugging it in the setup process begins and is completed within just a few minutes. Even without a hard drive connected to the device the WiFi connectivity allows files to be pulled from the local network. This was a great solution.

My HDMI port went out on my laptop and could no longer play the files on my big screen. Best Buy helped me find this product and for $58.43 did all I needed and then some. All you need is a wireless connection and you can play anything on any computer in the network right on the big screen. It even has a wired connection if you do not have wireless which could be a little more cumbersome for the average user to setup.

I highly recommend the WD media player, it's changed my recreational life. I am most impressed with it's ability to play any video file format, as so many are difficult to play on the computer for example Matrioska

I bought this over the AppleTV because it doesn't need a computer to play videos, etc. I have a NAS I leave on all the time, and it can see it just fine. However, it doesn't display all videos under "Videos." You can navigate through folders and find / play those that are missing, though. I haven't messed with it a lot, so I'm not sure what all it will do. But if you want something flamboyant, this is not your system. I think it is nicer and plays more video formats than the Seagate GoFlex Home it replaced. In fairness, I don't do any online streaming, but it looks like that would work well.

this is a good item to have if you have a lot of dvd's that you want to be able to access easily. It would be nice if it had a internal hard drive built into it instead of you having to buy external hard drive.

For 75 bucks this is a steal. Unlike Roku, the HD playsback almost any video format with ease, including the pesky .mkv format. The You Tube TV interaction with a mobile device as the controller is top notch. The services are limited, for example - this device needs to add live services such as Watch ESPN, but I mostly purchased this to playback Intranetwork videos on my WD MyCloud server - Perfection.

I absolutely love this product. I can watch movies from the external using the usb ports.
