Awesome speakers. Coming from the Sony SSCS towers, these are much fuller in detail and easier to drive since they're 8 Ohms, as opposed to 6 Ohms like the Sonys. The twitter provides exceptional detail and the woofers provide great bass. The midrange is exceptional and airy.

EVO4.4 is an absolutely efficient speaker able to handle frequency range (bass) pass the normal 40Hz a really great speaker. Really nice midrange as well as, highs with cymbals noted.

I had 10 year old black floorstanding Polks that sounded good but I got new furniture and wanted to upgrade. These were voted the best in their price range by WhatHiFi and all other reviews were positive so I took a chance without listening to them. The wood veneer on these look really nice and definitely add to my home decor. The upper end of these sound a bit better than my Polks but it's the bass that really stands out - even at low volume (though I do have two subwookers). The magnetic grills definitely make them easy to get on and off. The speakers were delivered by UPS in damaged condition (looks like they were tossed around!). After returning, I had them send the replacements to the closest BB store for me to pick up instead and this helped prevent damage. I would have liked a little more detailed high end but the bass is just sooo sweet!

If I had been hearing these by themselves with no other comparison, I would have probably loved them. However, I bought these to compare to my Revel Concerta2 f36. While the tweeter on the Evo is fantastic, the overall laid back character and somewhat hollow mid bass kept me from keeping them. They are nice looking speakers and well crafted. While they had a lot of positive attributes, they just couldn't beat the Revels for the money.
