The movie is a classic comedy by Bogdanovich. It is an ensemble cast, excellent script and a fun time for everyone watching.

Funny movie! Love it! Acting is terrific. Barbra has such a great voice. Madeline Kahn is her usual funny self.

This is one of those comedies that never gets old for me. It's an homage to the Screwball Comedies of the 30's/Early 40's, and its biggest influence is another one of my favorite comedies, 1938's Bringing up Baby. I can also see a little influence from another Katharine Hepburn/ Cary Grant comedy from that year - Holiday. A dull, tight-shirt professor crosses paths with a strange woman, who develops this fixation to bring chaos into his life. Bogdanovich was told that Barbra Streisand wanted to work with him and was asked, "what kind of movie would you do with her?" and Bogdanovich said, "a Screwball Comedy." He was immediately given the go ahead.
There's so much energy in every scene and this was the late, great Madeline Kahn's first feature film. She plays the mousy, yet obnoxious fiancé to Ryan O'Neal's character and she makes you laugh in every scene she's in. Barbra Streisand is fantastic in it and, to me, possesses the spirit of Bugs Bunny here. I always thought she was beautiful, too. Especially that period between 1968's Funny Girl to Up The Sandbox (1972.)
If you've see a lot of movies like this, he may lean heavy handed into nostalgia, as one critic stated, but for its time, this movie brought back a long lost genre thar brought a lot of joy to people, where chaos ensues and love in found at the end of the tunnel....beyond the five car pile-up. Highly recommended for a good laugh.

I saw this movie as a young lad and had almost forgotten about it until I saw it mentioned in a TV news magazine piece on Streisand and had to get this Blu Ray treatment of it. I was not disappointed and in fact could not stop laughing at the slapstick almost Mel Brooks brand of comedy presented here. It is actually funnier than I remember. The Blu Ray transfer is pristine as well as the audio. I am very happy with this addition to my collection and highly recommend it to those who love a good laugh.

Nice blu-ray version of this classic. I thought I didn't like Streisand until after I ignored her for forty years. I became a fan after seeing Yentl and Prince of Tides. Those are dramas in which she excels. This is comedy. I wish she would do more comedy. I wish she would do more movies.
