I just had to touch a number and start to begin cooking ie 1 for 1 minute, 2 for 2 minutes, etc. This hood requires a "Cook Time" input and then start. Seems redundant to me. Much easier to just press 1 or 2 and cook. Other then that unit works great and price was wonderful.
