I bought this unit because it had a good mix of features for the price. A lot of similar over the range microwaves with the same look and features were a lot more expensive, including having convection and so forth. The installation was a bit of a pain because the placement of the various holes for mounting bolts and cord are very unforgiving. The mounting bracket for the back was also rather flimsy compared to my prior unit and it was tricking getting it on the wall without bending it. Once up though, it looks great and so far it functions very well.

This is Whirlpool's top of the line microwave. Our old microwave stopped working and we called our home warranty company to replace. They were going to use Maytag or something like that, stating that they were both made by the same manufacturer. All of our appliances are Whirlpool and that's not a good look. Trust me, I'm a real estate agent. We opted for a cash payout and decided find our own microwave. After researching the exact replacement and the two more upscale microwaves, we found a great sale where the price difference wasn't very high. We were able to get the top model. It has the same width, but sits out about 2 inches further. Because the buttons are on the door, it swings out so much further, but it makes it much roomier inside. The glass tray is also much bigger. This thing also can cook like a convection oven. I mean it cake bake, not microwave, anything, It comes with a rack, trays, and a steamer basket with a lid. We are very pleased.

Ok the first one arrived damaged and could not be installed. Packaging needs to be better for shipping. Customer service was awesome in helping me return and get a replacement sent out! Installation was very easy and I was able to figure out a way to install alone. Controls are easy to figure out. Sensor cooking works well but not as good as the frigedaire professional I had before. But that one died when the sensor cooking was cooking a potatoe and it caught fire after three years of use. I put a whole chicken in not expecting much and entered the weight and pushed start after it signaled it was done I went to check and had a perfectly roasted chicken!!! Can't wait to try the convection on baked goods. So far I am really happy so let's see how it holds up knock on wood

Needed a new microwave and was browsing online when I came across convection microwaves. I researched them and decided to get a microwave with convection cooking and started looking on Best Buys website. I found this Whirlpool on sale and it got really good reviews and was a lot cheaper than the majority of them so I ordered it online. I installed this unit myself and it was fairly easy. It comes with paper templates for marking holes. The hardest part was measuring the location for the metal bracket which the microwave hangs on against the wall. This unit is much heavier than a standard microwave and feels very solid but I managed to install myself but 2 people would be ideal. One person to hold microwave and the other to screw in bolts on top that hang unit from cupboard. This microwave is beautiful and the convection oven is fantastic. Its like we have 2 ovens now and honestly I haven't used my regular oven since I purchased this because it so convenient to use microwave for baking smaller things instead of heating up the house with our standard oven. People complained in previous reviews about not having good direction for convection buy honestly its really not needed. This unit walks you through all the steps. Simply press the convection button then it prompts you to choose which convection option. I always choose standard convection then it tell you to put in temp, it then lets you know its preheating and will notify you when its ready. So simple and its also very quiet which surprised me. We love this microwave and it will really come in handy during holidays or if we have a lot of cooking to do because now we have two ovens. One more thing is we did purchase the three year extended warranty just for peace of mind if something did go wrong. Best buy protection is great as they will refund or return the product if anything would happen.

Used both the convection oven and microwave function. Great size and heating capabilities. Haven't went through the instructions, but been using the convection function by manually setting the temperature and hitting start. Heated left over Hot Wings nicely. The larger size is nice, since we tend to have a lot of left over heating for our household of 4. We also do a lot of stove top cooking, so the vents and lights work very well. This microwave looks very high end and nice in a stainless steel kitchen. People did complain about the larger swing out door, and I can see that becoming a problem for smaller kitchens, but we are adapting to the change in our standard kitchen.

Our family is overall very satisfied with the features and functionality of this microwave. It's quiet and looks nice once installed. The door does swing out a lot since it is the full width, but it was easy to get used to. The convection feature works well but causes a bit more noise from the fan running to help dissipate the heat. All the cooking functions work to our expectations. The instructions are essentially worthless. It's not hard to figure out how to use it but a bit more instruction would be nice, even if it was only posted on the product website. Installation was more difficult than I expected. I ended up only using the templates for the measurements printed on them and marked the holes manually. It's very heavy too and the mounting bracket and case on the microwave are much more flimsy than they should be. Also, the nuts that the bolts go into are easy to dislodge, which causes them to fall inside the case. Fishing them out requires removing quite a few screws and the case is difficult to get back on properly.

Installation was very easy but does take two people. The microwave is very quiet. The convection oven is a little louder but not a problem. The instructions for microwave and convection cooking could be improved but with a little trial and error, e.g. don't turn the turntable rotation off when convection cooking, you will figure it out.

This is the fourth over-the-range MW oven I've installed and the first with the convection cooking feature. I was able to easily install it by myself. This Whirlpool WMH76719CS is the quietest of them all. The door opens easily and operates smoothly. The control panel is well placed and easy to use. My wife used the convection feature of this microwave to make a broccoli, potato, and ham casserole after I broke her range oven. The casserole turned out excellent. I was amazed that the convection feature of the MW oven was able to brown the top of the casserole. The price I paid was excellent to begin with and Best Buy gave me an extra $50 off for inconveniencing me. I ordered it on-line and when I went to pick it up, as directed by Best Buy in an e-mail, the MW oven was not there. The customer service rep handled the situation very well and to my satisfaction. When in the market for another appliance, I will definitely be checking out Best Buy.

I bought this as a replacement for the over the range microwave originally installed in our townhome when it was built 10 years ago. I knew I wanted a convection oven as well as some updated microwave features (popcorn sound, moisture sensing) and found this unit with great reviews on a “leading consumer ratings website”. Add to that a price that was several hundred dollars less than comparable products and this unit is a winner. The whirlpool brand is also the most reliable according to the website. I installed this myself with the help of my wife- measure carefully! The microwave is very quiet. It’s well insulated and doesn’t get overly hot on the outside when used as a convection oven. My only complaint is that operating instructions are very sparse. For example there’s no real description of the difference in convection baking versus convection roasting. (I found out that roasting adds microwave function up to 30% power in addition to the convection heatIng- keep that in mind when selecting a cooking dish- ie, no metal). I think this model may be discontinued and if so get it while you can-great value for a top notch and highly rated microwave convection oven.

To be honest, this was our second choice. We had fallen in love with a Samsung. ...and then I started reading the reviews. Change of plans! This Whirlpool is a looker and it's so smart! I love the controls. There are easy/quick features and then there's the autosense features which work amazingly well! I'm a huge fan of convection ovens and find this one to be a great time and energy saver as well. Perfect pizza crust! We've only had it for about 5 weeks, but so far, so great!

Unit larger than my other. Instructions really do the unit no good. Convection instructions on cooking reall really scarce with unit. Door is larger. You get used to it. They really should light the panel up. Have to turn main kitchen light on to set times for cooking. Had for a while still scratching my head. Wife and I installed unit. Template was paper. Too flimsy should be cardboard. Took us few hours. Well made overall very quiet. Little bell that tells its done is wayyyy to low of a beep. Can't hear if it too well. Fan so low above stove the units fan can't pull steam up from front burners. The unit actuall gets drips from cooking with water because of it.

The microwave seems to work great. A lot of presets and options. The sensors do really help not over cook food. The problem I have are the directions that come with it don't explain much. Not sure when or how the convection part is on. Once I figure that out I will probably love it.

Great microwave, convection is wonderful. Accu pop doesn't pop as well as it should, way too many unpopped kernels. All the kid features are great, cooks well. It reheats a little too long and over cooks on occasion. The venting is good and love the interior cleanup.

I recently moved from a home to a condo and started to replace the appliances. I had put the $1000 model in my other home and loved it for all the features it had. In 8 years I did not use everything it had, so when I installed the new one in the condo, I thought to downgrade to this $500 model that does everything the $1000 model does except it does not have as many pre-programed settings. I find this model to be just as good without all those presets.
