Customers are enthusiastic about the 20.5 Cu. Ft. Top-Freezer Refrigerator, particularly its ample interior size and generous space. The overall performance, price, and decent capacity also receive positive feedback. However, some customers have noted the noise level and the absence of a freezer light as potential drawbacks.

Very nice refrigerator. Needed a small one for the area and it served the purpose. No problems with it.

Large, made in Mexico Whirlpool. Not made well at all, cheaply put together, noisy, not energy efficient, but inexpensive and plenty of space with a large freezer.
Cons:
-Made in Mexico
-Cheaply made -- everywhere. Everywhere there was excess glue at the seams (even gunk between the glass on the shelves), things slightly askew, imperfections everywhere in the manufacturing. Nothing major, but all around you can see how cheaply it was put together. Even the bins feel cheap (thinner plastic than the older models).
-Unit is about 20% noisier than the old unit it was replacing (another Whirlpool from 12 years ago). Not terribly noisy, but certainly somewhat noisier than previous models.
-The outside doors (both for the freezer and main compartment) feel cold (or at least cool) to the touch when the unit is turned on -- not room temperature as with normal refrigerators -- showing the insulation isn't very good (the outside doors on every other refrigerator I've seen has always been at room temperature).
-Energy-wise, it's only so-so, with a rating of 436kw/h (it's not EnergyStar rated and not very efficient). Compare that to numbers in the high 300s for EnergyStar rated ones of similar size.
-No LED light in the Freezer. Really, Whirlpool? Really?
Pros:
-Cheap. When on sale it can be an ok deal (if the thing lasts) for what you get. If you don't have a lot of money, you get a big fridge and large freezer for a moderate price.
-Lots of freezer space: the 6.1 cubic foot freezer is nice if you freeze a lot of things as I do. Much bigger than 18 cubic foot models that only have 4-5 cubic foot freezers (the main reason I bought this, instead of better-made 18.2 cubic foot models from GE or other makers).
To me, Whirlpool is no longer the brand it used to be -- not at all -- and is no longer a selling point. I don't mind it being made in Mexico (as a lot of brands are made there now) but unless you pay through the nose for their high end models, you now get cheaply put together stuff that is manufactured in Mexico very sloppily. I would NOT honestly recommend it to a friend, but did buy it myself for the affordability and large freezer size. My suggestion is to look for the features and size you need, and purchase based on that, NOT on the brand anymore. Also, if you have a credit card that doubles the manufacturer's warranty, it might not be a bad idea to put it on such a card.
The main selling point is the price (affordable when on sale) and the large freezer and main compartment space. I've had it a relatively short time, and it works. We'll have to see for how long.
Not a 4- or 5- star unit by any means, that's for sure. Not a 1-star either (it does work), but in the 2-3 star range.

This was purchased to replace the fridge in the garage. It is spacious and well lit and cools well. It is a little noisy but I don’t care
