Customers are saying

Customers are impressed with the 4.3 Cu. Ft. High Efficiency Top Load Washer's cleaning performance and large capacity, finding it easy to use and a good value for the price. However, some customers noted that the washer can be noisy and that the lack of an agitator, less-than-ideal spin cycle, and absence of a fabric softener dispenser were drawbacks. A small number of users also reported reliability issues.

    Terrible engineering

Sensor doesn't regulate the water level satisfactorily- tub filled half full for 3 small items wasting water and diluting soap. It vibrates violently. Clothes get embalanced easily and you cannot rearrange them without waiting over 30 seconds for it to unlock. If you decide to change the cycle the tub drains and you have to start all over.

The worst washer - leaves clothes dirty

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

This is the worst washer I have ever owned. The washer barely fills up with water and just showers the clothes with water. Every time the washer starts “washing” I look inside to see the clothes sprinkled with water with soap sitting on the top clothes. Clothes come out smelly and have soap all over them. I also use the highest soil level and clothes will come out in the exact same way they went in. If they go in folded they will come out in the exact same position and still folded. My last resort of getting my clothes clean is to manually fill a bowl up and pour it in the washer. I had someone come out to try to fix it and they said this washer is more of a shower instead of a bath.... DO NOT BUY.

    not worth the $$$

when the salesman sold this to me he said it could sense the load size, and without an agitator could handle larger loads.. NOT true. this washer is super noisy. If I wash even a small load on the " normal" setting, it doesnt come clean, and if I wash blankets or a larger load of clothes, the spin cycle water over flows all over my laundry room floor. I absolutely HATE this washer !! My next washer will be as basic a model that I can find, one that I can pick the water level and load sizes...really disappointed....

    Worst purchase

This was the worst home alliance we have ever purchased. I had to pay for replacement parts 3 times in 4 years before just calling it quits and buying a new one (I would like to add it was used properly). The sensor never worked right, half the time it wouldn't drain right and it would screw up the sensory for the next cycle. It was the most frustrating thing I have ever had to deal with. And the company who came to help us with it multiple times said they are always seeing problems with them.

I was warned about this washer but it was a gift sooooo... This may be good for a single person with not a lot of laundry to do but has problems with leveling, jumping, screeching, squealing... I wish I had gotten an old washing machine from the 1970's. They still work. Sorry Best Buy, but I'd quit carrying this one.

    Beware!

After a few months, 3 service calls, and hours on the phone with customer support, we’ve been told that the loud banging, shaking, and clothes getting stuck under the agitator plate are caused by: 1. It’s the government’s fault because of their regulations 2. It’s my fault because I don’t load the washer correctly and need to load each piece of laundry one by one so the load is perfectly balanced and load it like a clock (evenly balancing 12, then 6, then 3, then 9) 3. It’s my fault because I should never allow something on the bottom of the load that could get stuck under the plate. (Since even whole towels get stuck there, not sure what should be on the bottom of the load). 4. It’s my fault because I probably overload it—even though I indicated it happens with only 8 pieces of clothing. Also, They cannot possibly put in writing the things they were telling me over the phone as they are not allowed to do that.

    AVOID WHIRPOOL- ESPECIALLY CABRIO

    Posted .

no stars given, but required to give on. After 1 year, the main control board went out. Whirlpool offered to fix after warranty expired if we purchased the extended warranty. We did, as it was $750 to fix the washer, and $250 two year warranty. No brainer. After the warranty expired, we thought it would be best to buy another extension to warranty, thankfully we did, as there has been 3 more main control board replacements, leak and other issues. We feel as we have been forced into keep buying the extended warranty. The problem now is that it takes 4-5 weeks after breakdown to get fixed, 10-14 days to come out, then 2-3 weeks to get parts and come back. DONE WITH WHIRLPOOL. Told them to reimburse us for remainder of extended warranty, and throwing it away.

Throw rug came out dirty & still full of dog hair. There were spots on it still dry---is this how you can call it "high efficiency"? Also very difficult to shut off. One button to start--same button to pause or shut off. Hold for 3 seconds--more like hold then unplug! Quite unhappy. I want my old washing machine back.

Do not buy this washer machine

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

I bought this washer machine as a gift for my mother on April 30 2016 and it is already broken. The machine stopped working one day, note that my mother lives by herself hence the machine is not heavily used. The machine was still under the manufacturer warranty; however, the company that works with Whirlpool is terrible. It has been three weeks and this company keeps asking my mother to wait because the part which costs $400 has not arrived, additionally, very rude people. It has been three weeks since she has not been able to wash clothes at home!!!. She contacted Whirlpool and they told her that there is nothing that Whirlpool can do since the warranty is managed through its third party. Overall, the service from Whirlpool's third party is terrible, the service from Whirlpool is terrible too and the washer machine is a very bad i do not recommend it to anyone.

    Worst washer, clothes are dirty!

My mom bought me this washer and dryer set. This is the worst washer I've ever owned. I presoak all the clothes and set it on heavy duty or deep water wash and always 2 rinses and still they come out dirty. Mine stopped agitating and had to call geek squad and it's been a nightmare to get them out here. Also it doesn't have a soap dispenser so you gotta go buy a fabric softener ball.

    Poor Quality, Awfully Designed Junk

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

This washer has been absolute garbage. I have never really thought it did a good job of cleaning our laundry, but the lack of quality is something that has completely turned me off. Whirlpool and all of their associated brands started using a clutch assembly commonly referred to as the "splutch". I have replaced the "splutch" (aka plastic piece of junk) on our washer twice and it is already in need of a replacement again, along with a new transmission. now due to the use of a plastic drive gear on the transmission shaft. It has also slung grease all over the floor from the drive motor. I will never buy from this family of brands again. I am now forced to replace a washer that is less than 4 years old due to poor design and build quality. I was once a very loyal buyer of this brand but I will be purchasing a Speed Queen now.

We’ve owned this washer leas than 4 years and it is off balance. We called a tech, spent hundreds on repairs, replaced the suspension rods, and the washer is still off balance. I’ve opted to replace the washer. I’m afraid this is my last whirlpool purchase.
