I purchased the Whirlpool Cabrio about six weeks ago. At first I thought it was okay. I had a hard time deciding on the short agitator or the regular size one. Big mistake. It does not get my white clothes like face cloths clean, even with bleach and Oxi Clean. I don't know if it is the HE quality laundry detergent but I have been very disappointed in this machine. I had my GE about 15-16 years when it died and loved it. I thought the energy saver might be the way to go but at times there is not enough water in the machine to wet the clothes. I put some clothes on the delicate cycle (and it was just a few pieces) and when I took them out, the back of one of the sweaters still had dry spots on it which meant there was not enough water in the machine to saturate the items.

Whirlpool is my choice

My family & i we bought this one along with E. dryer WED5500 to replace our 10 yr old Amana washer&dryer. So far, after a month, it is working fine. Both this washer & dryer are pretty quiet compare to my old ones. One thing i've noticed is that at the beginning of each wash cycle, the machine takes a while to think. It cleans well using little detergent. I love its large capacity w/o agitator.
Remember to use "he" detergents if you decide to purchase this one.

Very different from old washers

I've had an old washer with one of those large agitators in the middle for over 10 years now but it broke so I got this one.
First off, you have to use HE detergent or it messes and possibly breaks the washer....
Second, when its "sensing" how much clothes you put in the washer to add just the right amount of water, it takes a long long time...and its never enough water, not for me at least. I try to pause the washer and add a bucket of water and un-pause the washer to start washing but unfortunately it knew I added water so it drains all the water and re-adds new water.
Third, the buttons are very hard to push on
I'm returning this and getting an old school washer
I recommend getting a better more high quality washer or getting the old school ones which are cheaper

Quiet & Efficient

This HE washer is quiet, smart and large. I filled it up with all my darks, it gave the correct amount of water inside, washed them, spun them and made a cool little noise when it was done.
I like the simple to use knob and button on top, I like seeing how far in the process the wash is etc.
When it washes the clothes there is a hum then it goes quiet then hums a again, this repeats through the main wash cycle and you forget that it's even on.
I had some white work shirts with stains in them and it washed the stains right out on the first try.

Water saving

This washing machine is replacing a 12 year old Maytag which was still working OK but the dryer was on its last legs so we decided to replace both. I'm not sold on the water saving features or having to use high efficiency detgergent or not being able to raise the lid after the machine starts. It remains to be seen if the clothes come out as clean or cleaner than with the Maytag. No ajutator in the middle of the machine seems strange. But, my wife seems to like it, so that's the most important thing.

breaks right after warranty expires

There is an F-51 error code that makes the washer start beeping half way though the cycle. It takes an entire day sometimes to do one load of laundry because you have to keep restarting the cycle. It is very aggravating! Plus, even before this error code started happening it never really got my clothes clean. We have two cats and our clothes will come out with as much fur on them as they had when they went in. I picked this washer because I wanted one big enough to fit my king comforter. Well it fits, but it doesn't get clean. The whole thing doesn't even get wet. I hate this machine!

Piece of junk, save your money

Bought this piece of junk a mere 2.5 years ago. It's currently sitting in my laundry room broken, unusable, and smells like rotten eggs. I wish someone had warned me about this machine before I purchased it. Ran the diagnostic test which showed the machine is suffering from three different problems. Of course the unit is out of warranty. By the time I call the repairman out here and get it fixed, the repairs plus the up-front cost of the unit is going to cost me a min. of $1,000. Not worth it. Please get another washing machine!!!!!!!!! Would advise getting one with a full agitator. Really disappointed that I'm having to deal with this issue now. Thought for sure it would give us a good 10 years before having to worry about purchasing another one or dumping a bunch of $$ into it to get it fixed. P.S. my family consists of only two people, my husband and myself, therefore the machine has only experienced light weekly usage.

I have had this machine for about a month. I love it! It is a little on the noisy side, but other than that everything is good! Holds a lot of clothes, the water self adjusts and all my clothes come out nice and clean. Couldn't be happier with this washer!
