Dries clothes fast but is noisy

After suffering with an electric dryer for 8 years, we bought a gas dryer since we already had a hookup for it. This dryer has cut our laundry time in half. Drying jeans and towels in our old dryer took forever but this dryer can dry them in one cycle. The only drawback is that it is very audible when it is running. Our electric dryer was very quiet but I'll take the better performance and put up with the noise. Actually, with the laundry room door closed, it's tolerable.

Have had the unit a few months now, and has performed flawlessly. At first i had one of those cheap flex pipes attached to the exhaust, when i changed over to one of the semi-rigid pipes, the performance of the unit greatly improved. Suggest spending a few bucks on the better piece.

My washer/dryer combo was delivered on May 16,2014. I used it for two weeks and then left for vacation for a week. When I returned I used it maybe three times and then the dryer stopped working. The air was blowing but it didn't heat so you would think it wasn't igniting-correct? I called for service and they came out four days later. The technician said it needed a timer. He also asked for an igniter "just in case". I asked if this was common for a three week old dyer and he said that he had seen this before. Great! A new appliance that requires repairs within the first 30 days! (BTW-the 30 day return policy that we've become accustomed to doesn't apply at Best Buy. I found out that Best Buys only offers a two week return policy.)
So the parts were delivered and another service technician came out again. He said that we needed an igniter and not a timer and that an igniter was not ordered. So now I'm once again waiting to use my new dryer and trying to arrange to be here for a service rep. to come out. So as far as I'm concerned there are two strikes, with two outs in the bottom of the ninth, and MY "bases are loaded". So yet another rain delay. We all know what strike three means...

Whirlpool fails to stand behind product

My wife and I purchased a Whirlpool gas dryer (Model WGD4850BW) from Best Buy at the beginning of June. On its first use, my wife found that it pulled threads from our new set of towels. To Best Buy's credit, it offered to replace our new dryer with the same model. On the first use of the replacement dryer, we found the same problem. We could see the threads hanging from the moisture sensor at the rear of the drum. There are two metal strips which caught the fabric. We began dealing with Whirlpool directly on June 24. They sent a repair man who documented the problem and said, "I can see where you are having a problem. The sensor has a sharp edge." He sent pictures to Whirlpool. After 5 calls to Whirlpool and two calls from them, they told us on July 24 that they had come to the conclusion that "this may happen with with loose woven material." They offered no solution. Their representative said, "I cannot recommend any further actions on your part." I was amazed at their response. I feel that Whirlpool has a design or production flaw with this dryer. They certainly do not have the customer in mind.

Basic but does the job

There is nothing special about this dryer. I wanted a basic dryer that had both sensor controlled drying, a sound on/off knob and a light inside. This met those with the lowest price. If you remove those option you can get super cheap but I wouldn't go that far.

I've had this dryer for a couple of years now and have been unhappy with my Whirlpool Cabrio AccuDry dryer since day one. It's such a waste of energy because it takes so long to dry clothes. I would never recommend this product.
