I didn't set out to get a higher end microwave/convection unit. I was replacing a very old (30 years?) microwave. If you have a wall on the hinge side of an OTR unit the door might not open wide enough to get things in and out (the hinge design evidently has changed over the years). This was the least expensive unit of two that appeared to fit my kitchen with no hinge issues. The microwave is quite powerful and has a number of useful menus. They explain, in a series of steps, how to cook a number of foods. So far I’ve steamed corn, cooked perfect rice, made French toast, grilled bratwurst and made oatmeal using the menus with good results. The convection preheat takes a while, but so does an oven in a range and this uses less power. If you know how you want to cook something the manual settings are also straight forward. The timer works independent of the microwave settings which allows multitasking. It will take a little time to tweak some recipes, but that is a minor incontinence. Overall I’m happy with the purchase. I had Best Buy install the unit. The job was subcontracted to a local company. The installer was on time, explained what he was doing, and made very little mess (which he cleaned up). He had the microwave installed in less than an hour despite the challenge of removing the ancient OTR. He even set the clock and talked to the cat watching him work.

I have had this product for about 7 years. My 1st oven went with a house sale so I got a new one for my new home. I don't need any other stove or oven this does it all. I have it under extended warrantee and have had service but it was prompt and done in home, never an issue. I had a unit that apparently was damaged in shipping and after several repaIrs to the fan motors the store replaced it with a brand new oven after 3years quickly and at no charge. There is no comparable micro convection. This one does it all I would buy another. It is a must for small kitchens and you don't need another appliances to prepare your meals or bake cakes. The manufacture worked well to resolve any and all problems, Best Buy was super in getting a replacement and installing it for us.

Have owned one for less than 2 1/2 years and have had to replace the magnatron twice. First time it was replaced after 18 months and the second time at 29 months. Whirlpool customer service is poorly lacking and unresponsive to customer concerns. Have always owned Whirlpool products but will switch to an alternate brand due to poor service response.

This microwave does everything. from grilling steaks to baking cookies - love it
