It was a good air conditioner that helps cool room

This was my 4th attempt at a Whynter portable AC. After trying their 12k BTU AC/10k BTU heater 3 times only to receive 3 faulty models (vent wouldn't stay open) I decided to try this model. It never cooled as well as my 10 year old LG of the same BTU's it kinda worked. Wouldn't recommend using dual hoses unless your unit is very close to the window. If the unit is any farther it seems to be choked for air. That being said the far left side of the vent doesn't push air out, making the air go out straight and right only. Cooling power itself is underwhelming. Room is roughly 225 square feet and it struggled to keep the room cool with just a couple heat sources on (TV, computer, ps4). 1 star product in my opinion, but with all the trouble I had whynter's customer service people were friendly and helpful, so 2 stars overall.

I was excited to get anew AC with a higher BTU, but it doesn't cool like I thought it would. It kinda looks like a track can too. I'm sure it would work get in a small place but it's not enough for my 650-700 sqft room.

Bought this for my small 350 feet apartment. I’ve been very happy with it. It is slightly noisy.

Very easy to set up I dont have any double hung windows in my family room so i had to construct a new setup for my casement window with some plexi glass,the room is approm. 15 x 20 and this unit cools it relatively well , i did put an upright fan in front to help with the cooling, really not as noisy as I thought it would be , make sure you do buy a dual hose system ,makes a very big difference

We tried at least 6 portable units in our home last summer, with the intent of returning them right away if they didn't do the job. Unfortunately we were too late with one return, so now we're stuck with a single-hose unit doing nothing in a room upstairs. Last but far from least is this Whynter dual-hose job! It starts cooling the room down within minutes. We have it in the living room, and our hot guests cool off the minute they walk in. All the other indoor units we tried were single-hose and required some sort of attention re: water residue…how to get rid of it! This unit, the moisture goes out with one of the hoses; we have NO problem with water in the house, no pans needed, no draining hose needed. It's wonderful! I'm pleased enough with this unit that I want to get one for upstairs. Most importantly, though, is the cooling power it has. And it has it! It topped all other units we brought into the house. Also an important note: my electric bill went up very, very little. Granted, we don't use this everyday, but during the summer we paid no more than $20 more per month. Perhaps it is because ALL the fans get turned off and we run only this unit for cooling. Again, we're talking maybe running it 8ish hours a day--sometimes less, sometimes more. We never leave it on when we leave the house. We also turn it off at bedtime. Sorry I can't tell you much about installation. We have a thick-cardboard makeshift for the 8-inch opening in our sliding door entry, but will change it to a wood panel when we have time to spend on it. I'm completely satisfied with this product, and highly recommend it to anyone. Trust me, the dual hose makes ALL the difference! Don't waste time and energy on the single hose. It's a pity they don't make more of the dual.

This is my second Portable A/C purchase, and by far the best. The double hose feature provides superior cooling, and the upper condensate drain port, which fits a standard garden hose fitting, provides the ability to constantly drain into a separate container is a blessing. I had a couple of problems/questions which were promptly and capably dealt with by Whynter customer support. The exhaust/intake hose, and window kit installation were not as easy as the instructions would lead you to believe, maybe because we are both senior citizens. That would be my only criticism.

We bought three of these. One leaks and needs to be emptied every thirty minutes. One won’t run on any outlet without blowing a fuse. The last one actually works, but won’t get the small bedroom that it’s in below 70, despite being on alllllll day and night. Not happy.

Unit barely lasted a year! when i was told i had to ship it to them to get it serviced under warranty i was upset...when i had to pay $120 to ship it back i was very so mad! stay away from this unit and company!
