My equation for a good suspense thriller? Give me characters I can like (or at least empathize with), a plot with some complexity (and at least some unpredictable elements), and a conclusion that is sensible in the way it resolves. Viola Davis along with the other widows of her husband’s accomplices (Michelle Rodriguez, Elizabeth Debicki and Cynthia Erivo) are all wonderful and relatively unfamiliar characters. They draw you in with natural and believable performances in a story that takes surprising twists. This is one of those movies that flies past and you know you’ll want to revisit it a number of times. The video and audio are very well done, and detail is easy to see in the many dark scenes, especially in the final act. On the other hand, it’s not a film that relies on the rich colors and extended sound quality that 4k offers. The Blu-ray is probably perfectly adequate although I enjoyed the 4k presentation.

"Widows" also stars Liam Neeson, Colin Farrell, Robert Duvall, Daniel Kaluuya, Lukas Haas and Brian Tyree Henry.

When the movie started, it took me a minute to get into it. It seemed sort of slow. After about 10 minutes I was glued to the screen. Viola Davis leading three other women whose husbands were thugs, stealing from others instead of working an honest job, all get killed. Well at least that’s what the director and writers wanted us to believe. These four ladies were left with the large debt of their husbands and had to face the threats and possibly death at the hands of these criminals. The guy who played Viola Davis’ husband staged the whole thing. He escapes the tragedy that took the lives of his thuggish co-conspirators and began a new life with a woman known to his wife and the killer is he even had a child with this side chick. I was so glad that in the end, his wife played by Viola Davis ended up with all the loot!

Steve McQueen came roaring onto the scene almost a decade ago now with "Hunger", one of the best films I've seen in recent years. Since he's made "Shame" and his Oscar-winning "12 Years a Slave." Each film different but distinctly McQueen, "Widows" is a whole new ballgame. Perhaps less action heavy than someone unfamiliar with his work would expect, "Widows" is a character-focused heist film that left me 95% satisfied. I'd recommend to anyone with the caveat that they know they're in for less action and more character than the trailers would have you believe.

This all female leading cast with male supports brings out some of the best acting and suspenseful drama that I have seen in a long time. Ms. Davis and Ms Rodriguez along with Ms Debicki and Ms Erivo really show 4 different characters in Chicago coming from different backgrounds that are believable that come together to overcome political, drug and male dominating times of our current society to show them struggle with each other and to finally overcome these institutions to reach their goal. They make the truthful settings in this city jump out at you and brings home a great movie for the viewers. This movie is to have in your library!

This is a heist movie. So we get the usual planning and executing of a heist. This is also about women finding their power. And it is also about love in an interracial marriage; and about infidelity; and about white cop shooting innocent black kid; and about political corruption; and about minorities taking political power from the status quo. It's about every important current social issue. It's about maybe too much, and I don't understand the ending. But the performances are outstanding, especially Viola Davis's.

One of the most best heist movies in decades, and definitely the best female themed heist movie ever. Based on the '80s British miniseries, Widows tells the story of four widows whose husbands are all killed while on a heist. When the widows get the squeeze from a local criminal kingpin, the only thing they can do to stay afloat is to pull off the next job their husbands were planning themselves! For sure this is one of the best movies of 2018 I highly recommend you watch it as soon as you can.

While British filmmaker Steve McQueen has often made films more for the arthouse crowd, his latest film may be his most accessible telling the story of a group of woman placed between a rock and a hard wall plotting a heist. While some of the twists and turns may be noticed by some audiences, the overall result is an entertaining one that can be enjoyed by most audiences. Overall, I highly recommend "Widows".

I was blown away! This movie is phenomenal! This movie got lots of hate from viewers because they were expecting a full blown heist movie. It’s not.... but don’t let that fool you and pull you away from a great story! It’s not always about gunshots and explosions. I can’t believe how great this way and at times intense. It makes you cover your mouth at moments where you don’t know what’s going to happen to someone or how it’s going to end. This is definitely a pick up

This movie turned out to be a great, well acted and visionary movie. It was not hard to see where these women end up after their husbands died. It is expected but their strong wills carry the day. Spoiler alert, there are two twists at the end that will leave you wanting more.

My wife enjoyed this movie. She actually convinced me enough to sit and watch it comet at 1st I was reluctant to watch it, but I actually enjoyed it one side sat and really tried to understand the plot of the movie. I give the movie at least 4 stars.

I love movies with strong characters. Women rule in this action heist. Widows deliver on all cylinders. What would you do if gangsters, corrupt politicians and shadow figures turned your world upside down for something your husbands crew did. Great movie.

This movie was AWESOME !! Steve McQueen has done it again ! It’s masterful they way he brought these women together with their individual life experiences to achieve a common goal. Viola Davis is the Queen ! The rest of the casts were excellent as well ! GO SEE THIS MOVIE!!!

The film is strong, the presentation is excellent and while a few more extra features would have been nice, at least those you get aren’t short of depth. All in all, Widows is definitely another 4K Blu-ray to add to the collection.

Very entertaining, the all-female cast leads were perfect, they all stepped out of their comfort zones to deliver something new. Viola Davis can do it all…Michelle Rodrigues has serious acting skills…Elizabeth Debicki…has perfect timing…Cynthia Erivo …has it all and then some…

Really enjoyed the movie! The cast of members provided a very entertaining experience for my wife and !. The plot, story-line, and action was on par with Ocean's Eight with added action and violence to spice things up! Highly recommend.

This film contains great acting, character development, screenplay and story line. I found myself invested in the character's plights and cheering for certain outcomes as a results. This is an award worthy film in many categories of its' development. Very entertaining fare !

The display for the movies was very convenient and I had no trouble finding the movies I wanted. The new store is very nice and there seemed to be a vast array of products. Checking out was quick and the girl cashier was friendly and helpful. Overall, a pleasant experience.

I haven't watched the movie yet as my 4K player was being worked on but I couldn't pass it up for the price. Even if it's not that great of a movie, I'm still not out as much as going to the movies to see a bad show.

This is such a great movie! The quality is out of this world. Pair this with an Ultra HD 4K player and it is the best movie experience in the world! We watch this movie all the time and love it so much!!
