Customers enjoy the many games, especially those appealing to a wide range of players, and find the gamepad intuitive and easy to use. The system's ease of use and fun factor are also frequently praised, along with its price point. However, some customers point to the battery life of the gamepad and the lack of third-party game support as shortcomings.

I was torn between wii u and Xbox 360. I have 3 children, two girls ages 10 and 8, and one son that is 7. We have had a regular wii for 3years and it jus got to be boring. So, neimg a Nintendo girl at heart and have had every Nintendo console from regular, super, 64, and wii. I couldnt bare to part from Mario and the rest of the gang so here we are. Love at first sight! Im 28 and enjoy ot as mucj if not more than kids. So. Its awesome!! The game pad is genius you can play on tje game pad while the tv set is on regular tv. Other players can also play off of that screen. And its so interactive. You can touch. Swipe tap and blow with the game pad and ot makes other things happen. You can also play with the system hooked up through hdmi. Added bonus and what totally got me, ALL of tje regular wii games from wiimotes to the games are compatible. And if yoy dont have wiimotes they are very inexpensive. It may have taken a couple yrs to catch on but Nintendo has ONCE AGAIN, completely NAILED IT! And HECK YES i recommend this to all ages!

This is the best system from Nintendo ever. Finally HD. The hand-held WiiU pad is an amazing addition to the gaming experiance. Fast and easy to use. Compatible with Wii-mote controllers, and the fantastic WiiU Pro Controller. Bundled games are loads of fun, black finish matches all my other consoles.

Great System for Kids

My kids had a Wii that recently started having disc error, so we decided to replace with the Wii U. It was a good decision. All of the Wii Games are compatible, although the kids have been entertained for hours with Mario 3D and Nintendo Land. I can't say enough about Nintendo Land. The kids love it and so do I. Not sure if they'll ever get tired of it. Anyway, we had paid full price, but the Wii U went on sale like 1.5 weeks later. Best Buy was nice enough to refund us the difference. As for the product itself, it was pretty easy to setup. Simply plug it in and follow the onscreen instructions. It will walk you through, language setup, time/date setup, network connectivity setup, character setup and then it will install updates. Probably plan an hour or so before you actually start playing anything. My only beef would be that it would be nice if it came with more than 1 controller. It comes with a gamepad and charging dock, but that's it. The official Wii controllers are expensive and the knockoffs are unreliable.

We waited a year after the WiiU came out to get this system after having a Wii for several years. My biggest issue was backwards capability, which this unit has, so far. We have only seen minor issues playing 'old' Wii games on the "U". Graphics are so good on the "U" that Wii Sports & Sports Resorts are a little pixilated instead of upconverted. The game pad is fun BUT IT DIES WAY TOO QUICKLY. I'm not sure what kind of battery it has, but it doesn't last long enough to game for more than a few hours. The Netflix interface is far and away better than any other system I have encountered. I have disconnected my account from the Samsung Blue-Ray player I had it on since the "U"'s interface is so much more user friendly. The children all love this system. One other negative is that when transferring from the Wii to the "U", the data wasn't copied but rather completely transferred. This left the kids to start over on progress and everything if they are in the other room playing on the regular Wii. Not terrible, but annoying.
Overall I give this unit a 4 or a decent size Thumbs Up. It would have been nice to have been a hundred bucks less expensive since it can't even play a Blue-ray, but overall, it appears to have a good value.

I got this for my son for Christmas. I love that he can still play on the gamepad if I want to watch tv. It has a lot of kid friendly games to choose from. NintendoLand has a lot of mini games that he enjoys. Super Mario 3D World was awesome, definitely a family favorite. It was a great price too.

This is not a comparison review to other gaming consoles but rather what you get with Nintendo consoles: fun games geared towards the whole family. This was a gift for my kids under 12 and although they have access to a PS4 and XboxOne, the games dictate which they use the most. Familiarity with game play is huge for kids as they jump into the thick of things right away which in my opinion adds to the experience. The new controller is cool to use and backwards compatibility with older controllers is a plus.

wi u is great! kids really like the game pad concept and the games are much friendlier, family oriented then some of the other games systems out there. Can be used to access the internet for watching movies and other online activities all while controlling what can be viewed by kids.

As a die-hard Nintendo fan, the Wii U is an excellent console. Games look gorgeous and run smoothly, with games like Smash Bros running at 1080p and 60 fps. The Gamepad controller looks big but doesn't feel awkward to hold, and the screen is great for off-TV play when a family member is using the TV for something else. This bundle comes with Super Mario 3D World, which is my favorite non-Galaxy Mario game ever. It also comes with Nintendo Land, which I admit I haven't played once despite having owned the Wii U for about 2-3 months now, but hey, it came with the console, so I can't complain. My only real complaints are that it takes forever to update when you first set it up, and that there are almost no third-party games (Bayonetta 2 and The Wonderful 101 are the only notable exclusives at the moment, with Xenoblade Chronicles X on the way), so if you plan on playing games not made by Nintendo I'd recommend a PC, Xbox or PlayStation instead/in addition.

I was on the fence about getting this system. We have 3 young boys, and this is the best system out right now if they like to play games together in the same room. Many of the games allow split screen by using the Gamepad for P1 and the TV for P2. Really cool feature.

The game pad is easy to use even for my 4 year old son. We love how Nintendo land incorporates several of the old school games that my husband and I grew up playing. We all had fun creating our Miis. Mario 3D World is a fun, challenging game that we can all enjoy.

I bought this for me and my girlfriend to play during our free time. I am still a student and she has just started her career. Neither of us have spent much time playing video games in the last 3-4 years and have only previously owned an Xbox 360 and Gamecube. The Wii U and it's current inflation of exclusive titles, including Super Mario 3D World, Super Smash Bros., Mario Kart 8 and others have rekindled a child-like excitement for gaming in the both of us. Gaming together, the Wii U has given us both a brand new experience having spent most our childhoods playing video games solo. Specifically, Super Mario 3D World and Mario Kart 8 have been masterfully created by Nintendo to allow us both, with varying degrees of skill, to play together beautifully. Sony, Microsoft, and Nintendo each have something different to offer for everyone but for the price and purpose the Nintendo Wii U gets our vote.

WiiU is awesome as expected. It may not have a ton of games, but it definitely has some of my favorites, so I couldn't be happier with my purchase. If you want to play the games, the price isn't too bad, and that's what I love about Nintendo. Affordability!

In short, the Wii U is, in my opinion, exactly like the Playstation Vita. It's an excellent system all around, but greatly lacking in decent games.
Setup was fairly straightforward, it took a little while but was pretty easy all told. Updating was infinitely quicker than setting up the Xbox One. The included Nintendoland is mostly just minigames to show off various things you can do with the system, nothing that you're likely to play more than a few times. Super Mario 3D World is the same basic mario game they've been pumping out for years and years, so unless you're a big mario fan you'll get tired of it quickly as well, so I'd highly suggest getting a few other games that interest you. Bundle itself is a solid deal, the 8GB consoles aren't nearly enough if you plan to buy a decent amount of games, so it's pretty much your only decent option.
Also worth noting, you're going to need a lot of accessories along with getting this bundle. If you want to play with more than one person you'll need wii remotes for each extra player. A Wii U Pro controller is also highly recommended, though a bit pricey. Most important would be a screen protector for the Gamepad controller. This thing is expensive to replace, so keeping it in good shape, especially if you have kids, is a must.

The Wii U gets a lot of use around our house. Aside from the games themselves, it is great for Youtube, Netflix or other streaming services. The gamepad makes it much more convenient. Mario 3D World is fantastic as well. Great for all ages!

The Wii U has been a pleasant surprise. It is definitely geared more for the youth in gaming, but the game pad is far more impressive than I expected, the graphics high quality, and the games engaging. No regrets on the purchase

I know a lot of people complain about the wii u; how it's not a current gen system, graphics can't compare, not enough games, etc. But really, this system is for the millions of people out there that have been enjoying the classic nintendo titles since they were born. And the newer generation of players who get hooked on the simple fun you can have jumping from one platform to another, or throwing a red shell at the opponent in front of you. Now, this bundle, only elevates that level of play. You can get started right off the bat with an amazing game that you can have fun with for hours. Not to mention nintendo has one of the most local multiplayer friendly games out there. Grab your buddies and just start cursing through some levels.
Definitely a must buy for any gamer!!

The Wii U is a great console, if you want to play fantastic newer versions of your favorite Nintendo franchises. Super Mario 3d World is a worthwhile addition to this bundle and provides a great introduction to the system. The main negative is the gamepad controllers somewhat awkward size and short battery life, but it doesn't detract from the overall joy this system can provide.

As an intermediate gamer, I enjoy a lot of the next-gen action and sports games that are available on other consoles, but I bought the Wii U for the sole purpose of getting involved with Nintendo games again. There's something that goes along with all of the Mario and Donkey Kong games that make them very easy to pick up and very family friendly--a growing concern in my household with three young children.
If you're looking for a console that the whole family can enjoy, the Wii U provides an excellent investment. And if you happen to have previously owned a Nintendo Wii, all of the old nunchucks, wiimotes and games are usable with this new system, making it the only console with full backward compatibility!
