I've had the Windmill WhisperTech 8K BTU Smart Window AC for 2 months now, could not be more pleased. I ordered with ease online at Best Buy. Arrived on time. It is packed to perfection similar to Apple products. Well-written installation manual. The unit is good looking, it looks like an expensive flush mounted speaker once installed, sleek and beautiful. Installation took about 45 minutes. You need two people, primarily just to steady into the window for safety reasons. You do the entire installation from inside the window. No need to go outside. If you are on the 40th floor downtown, no problem. It comes with attractive side panels and insulation for an attractive "custom" professional fit. The Smart Phone app works perfectly to operate the unit from anywhere. Very quiet. Pushes cold air out beyond the room installed in. Easy to clean the filter about twice per month with a rinse of warm water. The attractive front grill comes off easily and can be custom painted with non-toxic paint to match your decor. My unit is in a bedroom and close to the head of the bed (see photos). The air disperses at a 45 degree angle so you don't have the cold air blowing directly on you. No worry about this unit blowing circuit breakers, as it only draws about 6 amps. It's "Energy Star" certified, which may qualify for a rebate with your electricity provider. 15 SEER rating. I'm already saving 25% on my electric bill and just got started. I have a Central AC unit that struggles to cool the west side of my home in the afternoon and early evening in June, July & August in Oklahoma. This unit solved that problem immediately. Customer service is also outstanding. I have emailed their customer service with a couple of questions and both times received an answer within 15 minutes. Trust me, I researched every window AC unit thoroughly for two months before this purchase. Windmill beats all others. Comparable in price to other units or slightly higher. It's worth it. Totally worth it. You will be so happy and have peace of mind and thankful when you lower your energy costs.

This is hands down the best and most beautiful air conditioner I have ever owned. I installed it myself, emphasis on myself, although I do recommend following the safety manual’s advice and using two people. It is whisper quiet, my plants barely noticed it turned on, and the design actually adds to the room instead of making it look like a tech warehouse. I love the three smart modes, Fan, Cool, and Eco, and how easy it is to schedule everything in the app. I set mine to run fan-only at night, Eco in the morning, and Cool during the midday heat. As a bonus, I even scheduled around my city’s peak electricity hours (5 to 9 PM) and my summer bill only went up about $4. The convenience is fantastic, too. I can use the physical remote when I’m nearby or adjust settings from anywhere in my home using the mobile app. That is comfort with conscience and smart design. Thank you, Windmill, for finally making an AC that is both brainy and beautiful. Highly recommend!

The Windmill - WhisperTech 8,000 BTU was an easy installation, as mentioned in The Wirecutter review. I appreciated that no exterior supports are needed. My wife is sensitive to the louder sounds of most window air conditioners, and she has no problem sleeping with the Windmill on all night. It is the perfect solution for our bedroom.

Unit was easy to install and has performed well temps high here many Days over 100 degrees keeps small bedroom cool. Unit runs quiet when in evo mode it sounds like a helicopter.

Replaced an old upstairs portable unit that was having trouble keeping up this year. The window unit cools much faster and is able to keep up even during hot sun directly on the roof (bonus room above garage).

I live in a 3 story townhouse with no central AC in CO. The bottom floor stays cool year round but the main (middle) and top floor tend to get pretty hot during the summers. I bought two of these window AC units for each of the bedrooms on the top floor and they work great at keeping the rooms cool. Even more, if I leave the bedroom doors open, the AC units cool my main (middle) floor so I haven’t needed to buy anything else to cool the rest of my house.

Works very well and the side panels not only insulate but block light into the bedroom.

I love this air conditioner, very silent and great! I highly recommend it even to my arch enemies!

TrTry the Midea . This one has cute name but is crap. The Midea splits the condenser / blower fan to keep the shrill inverter outside your window. You see these inverters start to sound like a truck brake at startup after only a couple weeks. Maybe I should have steered clear when the box arrived a week behind after being trucked/trained from So Cal. Then the UPS guy left it upside down on my porch. Guess he was upset he had to do a 60 lb lift - lazy $140k wimp. Return window is only 2 weeks on this one - run while you can guys/girls - this one is a train wreck. I installed this AC in my home office earlier this summer and I am really impressed with how well it performed. Very easy to install. Kept my office constantly at the ideal temp and was so quiet I barely heard it all summer. Found the app easy to setup and simple to use. I purchased the Windmill fan for another room as well and found their app easy to use on both. Finally, this is such a neat looking design and much sleeker than other models I looked at. Extremely satisfied with this product from Windmill!

After returning highly-rated but recalled air conditioners, we decided to try the Windmill Whisper Tech window units. We were so glad we did. The design of the units is minimal and attractive, the cooling ability substantial enough to cool two rooms through a hot summer, and the inverter technology produces very little noise. Having tried a number of various units over the past 15 years, the Windmill units are - by far - the best we have ever purchased.

I saw this on Instagram a couple years back and decided to try this when my old unit broke. I am so glad I did. Installed it in minutes and cools quietly. Not much more I can ask for! Magnet front panel is a little strong but otherwise this thing is really great

This is the main source of cooling in my main rooms and it works exactly as described. Not only did this drop my electric bill by about 18% compared to my previous window AC, but now runs much quieter while maintaining the same temps. Works with Google Home so I’m able to tell Google (or use the app) to change the mode, fan speed, and temperature with 0 issues. We’ll see how it holds up in the long run but for the month I’ve owned it, it’s been flawless! Would highly recommend.

The Windmill AC is easy to install, very quiet, and cools most of my 600 sq. ft. apartment with one unit. I will be buying a second unit for my bedroom.

This AC was all that it claimed to be. Easy to install, very quiet, cools incredibly fast, and energy efficient. I highly recommend. I have used it all summer with great results.

Super quiet compared to my former air conditioners and it looks so pretty. Although it is quite heavy, aside from the lifting, it was really easy to install. I love the wifi app. I turn on my AC as I am leaving work and my apartment would be cool and comfy when I get home.

Pros - cools the room down quickly, quiet once it gets going Cons - HEAVY (definitely have two strong people to put this in), the cycle sounds between compressors sounds jarring Overall I'm happy with this AC.

I absolutely love this AC! Its so quiet and cools the room really quickly. Its so powerful i run it on low and eco mode throughout the summer…have never had to run it on high. I also love that the air points up not out, it makes it feel a lot more like central AC. Definitely would reccommend!

The quietest air conditioner I have ever owned. It is amazing how quiet this is even when on full cool and full fan. We have it in our dining room just a few feet away from our dining room table and you can barely hear it. It is very easy to install because the side veins are preinstalled on the unit. If it matters to you, the Wi-Fi set up is very easy. It does feel heavier than similar capacity, air conditioners, however.
