Talia Shire ("Rocky"), stars in this atmospheric mystery as Emily; who is brutally attacked one night after work as she enters her apartment. Eventually she discovers that the attacker was hired by her best friend Andrea (Elizabeth Ashley), who masterminded the whole thing because she has feelings for Emily. Not really giving too much away here-everything is telegraphed a bit too soon in this deliberately slow paced film. This proved to be a very controversial film upon its release in 1980-there were many LGBT groups that protested the portrayal of the Elizabeth Ashley character in the film.. Beautifully photographed though, featuring direction from "The Godfather" cinematographer; Gordon Willis in his directorial debut.
