Customers love the SCANWATCH's impressive battery life and the availability of ECG and oximeter features. Many appreciate its elegant design and accurate health tracking capabilities, including sleep and heart rate monitoring. However, some users wish for a built-in GPS and a larger screen. The step counter's accuracy has also been a point of concern for a few customers.

Overall, a pretty sleek and unassuming health monitoring watch. The only thing that's frustrating, is the heart monitor doesn't connect to Peloton devices. Otherwise, I love the watch!

Biggest flaw= no way to know how many seconds there are. Meaning, if im at school and look at my watch, i cant tell when the bell will ring once its inside one minute. Stupid, i know but a dral breaker for me.

Excellant Smart Watch

First impression:
My first impression of the Withings ScanWatch is that it is a very well-made watch. I have used a few different health monitoring smartwatches, some good and some bad. This watch right out of the box felt better made and of a higher quality than the others that I have used in the past. The watch comes well packaged and includes a nice cloth pouch a puck-style charger, and a user manual that is very well written.
Setup:
For this watch, setup begins with the app. Once the app is installed, you pair the watch to the app via Bluetooth. Once paired, the watch and app work together to guide you through the installation. I found the installation very easy and didn’t experience any trouble.
Once completed, the app provides tutorials on the watch, navigating the watch, and using the various features of the watch.
The charger is a USB magnetically held puck-style charger that is shaped the same as the watch. You place the watch on it and plug it into any USB port to charge the watch. To charge this watch from almost empty to full took less than an hour. For myself, a charge lasts about 2 weeks.
App:
The watch uses the Health Mate app, and this is where the real power of this watch is. Right from the beginning, I noticed that the app is very polished. Everything scrolls and switches smoothly, and the various charts for things like weight and BMI scroll as a single chart, not just providing a block of time, such as a day or a week. This allows you to place the chart exactly where you need it, regardless of the day, week, or month that is split. Switching between pages and selections is very quick and there is no delay in the results populating the page. It is well designed and well thought out. Manually entering information is also very easy and instantaneous.
The watch detects exercise and starts tracking the activity. Once it believes you are done, it logs it and lets you know. My primary exercise is on the elliptical. So far, this watch has detected the activity and got my heart rate and exercise time perfect. What it doesn’t get correct is the exercise type; the watch always sees it as cycling rather than elliptical. This is no big deal. In the app, select edit, click on the cycling badge, and then select the appropriate type, in my case elliptical. The app automatically adjusts any results to match the new exercise. I have found that editing the various results in this app is very quick and easy.
The ScanWatch app also works in tandem with the MyFitnessPal app. I downloaded the app and it synced with the Health Watch app. Now the results in the Health Watch app are combined with my daily intake to provide me with a big picture of how I am doing. Both of these apps are free, and both are very good at what they do.
In addition to monitoring exercise, this watch monitors your heart rate (BPM), sleeping, and walking. Additionally, you can manually enter your blood pressure, weight, take ECG’s, and Oxygen Saturation. Withings offers other devices with will automate some of these, such as blood pressure monitors, weight scales, and sleeping pads. Based on the quality of this watch, I am going to purchase their weight scales and blood pressure cuff.
Finally, the watch can provide smartphone notifications, such as who is calling, and it displays your text messages and emails if you want it to.
Conclusion:
This is a very nice looking, high-quality smartwatch that is a nice watch just by itself. The health monitoring is the best that I have used so far, the app is one of the best apps I have used for any remote device like this, and the integration with smartphones to display phone calls and messages makes for what I consider a very desirable smartwatch.
I highly recommend this watch.

Fantastic watch. App and watch itself are very user friendly. Couple with their Body+ scale and you are all set. Battery life is amazing. Unobtrusive watch compared to your typical smartwatch. Notifications will not keep reminding you of their presence. Its a one and done deal. This watch is geared toward someone that enjoys a classic watch look with simple unobtrusive smart features and monitors some interesting vitals.

Purchased his to monitor my heart rate. It did a okay job but seems to be inaccurate. My Apple Watch always matches a medical grade device where this was normally off by 10 BBM

The watch looks great, is very durable and the app and watch function all work well enough. But functions like step counting and heart rate tracking are oftentimes appear wrong, which makes it hard to use as a health device.

== SETUP ==
Before unboxing the ScanWatch, you'll want to download Withings' "Health Mate" from either the App Store or Google Play. The app will walk through each step, but all it really does it ensure your phone's Bluetooth is enabled, detects the ScanWatch, and you'll need to enter a code that's displayed on the ScanWatch into the app to confirm pairing. Once the watch is synced, the app will guide you through a quick tutorial highlighting the features.
It doesn't matter if your phone is an Android device or an iPhone, the ScanWatch works flawlessly. My primary phone is an iPhone and I have not run into any connection issues or bugs (I'm sure Apple would prefer I use their own smartwatch instead). My old Android phone was able to pair with the ScanWatch just as easily. There does not appear to be any favoritism from Withings regarding which phone OS you use.
== FITNESS TRACKING ==
Withings advertises that the ScanWatch will be able to detect whenever you start a workout. I've found that it was pretty good at picking up when I started jogging/running, but cycling was another story. Thankfully, you can use the dial to manually start a workout (running, swimming, cycling, walking, and "other" are your options).
All your workouts are instantly logged into the app, so I would highly recommend working out with your phone nearby. This isn't a problem for me, since I like to use my phone for music streaming.
== HEALTH FOCUS FEATURES ==
One of my favorite features of the ScanWatch is the sleep tracking. With an advertised battery life of up to 30 days (more on that in a min), it makes the ScanWatch an ideal sleep tracker compared to the more traditional smartwatches from other manufacturers.
The ScanWatch heartrate tracking seems pretty accurate and I have not run into any errors trying to take a reading. If you don't like your watches with a snug/tight fit, you might face occasional problems.
The SpO2 sensor is pretty good, but I don't have access to much more accurate medical-grade O2 sensors to compare it. I do have seasonal asthma, so it is quite helpful to be able to verify/gauge how well my inhaler is working when I have a bad attack.
Recording an ECG the same process as measuring your O2. The only difference is that your ECG setup needs to be "approved" before you can use it on a regular basis.
For nutrition tracking, Withings has partnered with the makers of the MyFitnessPal app (available for both iOS and Android). I'm very happy with their partnership, since I was already using MyFitnessPal for my food and weight logs.
== BATTERY LIFE & CHARGING ==
The ScanWatch uses a little magnetic puck to charge the watch. The charging cable uses USB-A, which is handy for if you want to charge using a laptop or many smartphone chargers.
Withings claims that you can get up to 30 days of battery life with the ScanWatch. Your actual battery life will really depend on what you're doing each day. If you're using the SpO2/ECG multiple times a day, or multiple workouts, you won't be hitting 30 days. I use the SpO2 a few times a week, record workouts every other day or so, and I'm getting around 25 days before I need to charge. This is NOT a complaint. I am absolutely thrilled to be able to have most smartwatch features, but only need to charge my watch once a month.
== BOTTOM LINE ==
I love all the features of modern smartwatches, but I miss the aesthetics of traditional timepieces. The ScanWatch gives me the best of both worlds. While I can't reply to messages, unlike other smartwatches, I don't need to charge my ScanWatch daily (unlike other smartwatches).
If you prefer to wear traditional timepieces, but want to avoid buying and wearing a 2nd device just for fitness/health tracking, I would HIGHLY recommend considering the ScanWatch.

My first smart watch so no basis for comparison. I like the watch, but the directions on how to use are hard to find. It needs a complete operators guide. I question the accuracy of the step count. My Samsung phone app consistently records a lot more steps.

This is a great watch for what it does and everything it tracks. My wofe had one before me which is why i was interested. I had to return it though because both the original and the replacement had defective batteries. (They literally wouldnt last more than a day, supposed to last 30-50) I wonder if Withings did something on the software-side to push sales of new products.
