Both have released with my watch on my hand with minimal efforts. I tried the metal band for 1/2 day, but it is too big for my wrist. I'm 6'1, 240 lbs. and it rolls completely around my wrist in normal movement. In that 1/2 day, it released from my watch and everything fell on the floor. Thankfully I was at home, not riding around on my bicycle or my motorcycle or swimming. The silicone band fits fine but again the plastic release is too loose. It has released 4 or 5 times in the 6 weeks I've worn it and then I have to find the watch. I've tried bands from amazon but they seem to have a high failure rate also. I've had the watch for 18 months; the first band failed by breaking the piece between two holes so it's always oversize while on my wrist. I'm too late to return this due to Best Buy's stringent policy, so will go back to my original Garmin watch band, bite the bullet and buy another Garmin watchband. I think they are $50 and are available from Garmin. I don't want to continue with these bands because they release so readily and a $500 watch would be expensive to lose. The sad thing is I bought the Garmin 5x Saphire just before finding out I needed a hip replacement, so I'm really not doing anything strenuous with the watch; the band has no reason to be releasing. The Garmin Band never released in 18 months.

UTUBE is all wrong, standard is all wrong [I bought special screw driver for nothing] little catch in middle of where it attached to watch pushed in -- a snap when you know this BUT THERE IS NO GUIDANCE ON PAPERWORK WITH BAND AND BESTBUY PEOPLE WHERE OF NO USE!

They are not made of the same rubber the OEM was made of

They are good quality bands. I am using the silicone band, I like it better than the stock band that came with the watch. I have not used the metal band but I like the design of that one as well.
