Wolfenstein has been around for ages. It was one of the original FPS games similar to "Doom". Wolfenstein 3D was a classic that I still play today. It was later followed up for the xbox with "Return to Castle Wolfenstein", and now they are releasing this one for Xbox 360.
Woflenstein is a FPS based in WWII era, however it is a science fiction game and only historically accurate to a certain degree. The Germans develop paranormal technology that delivers all sorts of sci fi weapons, technology, and enemies. This game emphasizes on the german part of WWII. A must have for fans of the WWII FPS genre, I can't wait.

Overall, pretty good game. It looks good and shooting at Na*is is always loads of fun. Veil powers aren't terribly inventive, but they get the job done. Weapons ranged from classic subies, assaul rifles, and grenades to energy and theoretical weapons (my favorite was the Particle Cannon). However, it does become a little repetetive and it is a little bit easy. The game also upgrades to the weapons was a good touch.
I played on the hardest difficulty (Uber) and it took less than 6 hours.
The MP needs to be reworked; it is glitchy at times and needs to be treated with a solid patch that boosts framerates and improves lag. The MP itself is fun, but I wish they had evened out the weapon distribution to other classes. Perhaps COD4/5 have made me a little spoiled, but the MP in Wolfenstein cannot be compared to the COD series.
**Solid game is you're looking for a fun shoot-'em-up, but don't be surprised by a potentially quick title and relatively meager MP seasonings (right now).

Unlike the guy below this review i loved this game. I was one of the origional people to play RTCW and i completely fell in love with that game. Yes Id stepped away from RTCW with the new wolfenstein just a bit but its still a great game. Wolfenstein is its own game to many people are comparing this one to RTCW. I love the fact that you can shoot an enemy in the neck and he bleeds out from that or that you have a weapon thats pretty mucha mini nuke, or that you can upgrade almost everything in the game from weapons to your special abilities. The only problem that i have with this game is the loading. The loading times themselves arent that bad but you load a lot. Overall i would recommend this game to any person.

This game was soooo fun. I loved roaming around on missions and finding things/fighting soldiers. It was easy to pick up the controls, and I was hooked by the relatively simple storyline that really just allows you to PLAY. I'm not into certain other games where you have to talk to everyone and spend so much time learning about the game. If you just want a quick, fun shooter, this is for you.

Wolfenstein is back!

I played the old Wolfenstein3D back on my PC many, many years ago, but never played any of the more recent titles. This is my first console version of playing a Wolfenstein game.
I like the story and I can get behind the fact that the main hero is similar to the guy I played in the first Wolfenstein3D. There are even moments in the game where the enemy soldiers quote some of the same familiar lines like 'Mein Laben!; sorry if I spelled that wrong. I even notice that on some of the maps, i.d. included some of the same hiding spots and setups.
This game has a nice extensive campaign and the user can select different difficulties - just like in the original Wolfenstein3D.
The game also has multiplayer, which is vaguely familiar to playing the more recent Quake titles. Unfortunately, I wasn't as impressed with the multiplayer responsiveness. The play seems a bit limited, and the graphics don't allow you to see other players easily - too dark at times. Additionally, the multiplayer seems to choppy. It could be latency issues, but I don't see it this bad all the time in other multiplayer games.
One of my biggest dissapointments in the multiplayer was the way the bullets fire from the guns. The bullets fire way too slowly for it to be realistic. I.D. should increase the fire rate, but decrease the damage done to perhaps make this more fun in multiplayer.
I tend to compare mutliplayer modes to those of Halo3 and the COD 4 and COD WAW games, which are by far the best out there, so perhaps I'm a little biased. The multiplayer isn't awful, but it's not the best available right now.
I gave the game a chance, and I'm hoping they will add some multiplayer add-ons/patches.
Overall I give the Campaign mode a B+ and I give the Multiplayer a C+

Awesome game! The graphics are phenominal especially on an HDTV! An excellent first person shooter for anyone. The different modes and variety of weapons are what makes this game fun and challenging from beginning to end.

As a shooter, this game is not that bad. The cover and shoot system is identical to the Call of Duty series. The fact that Activision took over this project was more than enough of a reason for me to believe why this game plays like an incomplete mess. You get to play with "Veil Powers" and you have your dose of nice WWII weapons and a few futuristic ones, but overall, you can literally pass this game by running and gunning. I can only think of a few boss battles where using your Veil Powers is needed. But other than that, the A.I. for the enemies is horrible. You can put a silencer on a couple of your weapons but there really is no stealth possibility because the second you eliminate one enemy (even with a silenced weapon), EVERYONE is alerted and knows you're lurking nearby. Aside from a bunch identical looking enemies and less than stellar bosses, it's an okay game. The storyline is one huge incomplete and jumpy mess. Don't even bother trying to piece together a plot of some sort because there are a few characters that are introduced in the storyline and then later on disappear as you progress through the game as if they were never part of the story to begin with. I wouldn't go far as to shell out full price for it, but it's definitely fun and amusing.

This FPS was a great game for the PC (Wolfenstine 3D). Afterwards, I purchased Return to Castle Wolfenstine for the XBox (released for the PC as well) and was not disapointed at all! Now a new version to be released for the 360, I just can't wait!
As long as the Wolfenstine WW2 theme stays the same, I don't see why this game would be a disapointment.
Highly recommended.

I found this game to be fun (though this is far from the best in the Wolfenstein series).

Wolfenstein - Another Absolute failure by id

Its too bad that id just killed their franchise. After releasing such a terrible game, i doubt the company will ever regain the fan base and respect for any games they produce in the future. According to id, wolfenstein was to be based atleast somewhat on Return to Castle Wolfenstein. The game has the name "wolfenstein", it has "classes" like RTCW, gameplay is absolutely different from RTCW. I would recommend checking reviews and watching video footage before wasting $50-60 on this game. Compared to Enemy Territory: Quake Wars, its a huge improvement, but still and absolute failure. id tried to mix fan bases from other games like cod, in the end killing their own.
