This is a great anime, I purchased the set and could hardly stop watching it from one episode to the next. It's not really for kids, as there's a bit of fairly graphic violence/death. I hate to spoil anything of the plot, I'll just say that the "main" characters/protagonists are actually wolves. However, in this anime, wolves are something more. They're a bit on the mystical side in as much as they are particularly strong/resilient and can disguise themselves as humans through some kind of illusion. They don't CHANGE into humans, they just appear as such to the human eye and are able to communicate with people. Due in part to this, wolves have been hunted to near extinction. The anime is somewhere in between fantasy and sci-fi as it has elements of both advanced technology and mysticism. It runs in the 20 episode range, which I find to be about perfect for most anime. It's just long enough not to feel rushed, and it doesn't go on forever with seemingly pointless episodes thrown in to drag it out. A GREAT buy for the money.

This is one of those animes that you need to watch multiple times before you will see all of the story. The first time you will just see the main plot with hints at major twists. Each time you watch this anime after the first you will see more until you can see the true plot in all of its glorious detail. I would have to say that Wolf's Rain also has one of the best set of character personas that I have seen in a long time. Depth, history, and they don't change when they shouldn't.

5 out of 5. I saw this originally on adult swim but missed a few episodes here and there. Its one of the best anime's Ive watched.
