The Wolverine is a 2013 is the sixth installment in the X-Men film series and the second film headlining Wolverine after X-Men Origins: Wolverine in 2009. Hugh Jackman reprises his role from previous films as the title character, with James Mangold directing a screenplay written by Scott Frank and Mark Bomback, with uncredited parts by Christopher McQuarrie, based on the 1982 limited series Wolverine by Chris Claremont and Frank Miller. In the film, which follows the events of X-Men: The Last Stand, Logan travels to Japan, where he engages an old acquaintance in a struggle that has lasting consequences. Stripped of his immortality, Wolverine must battle deadly samurai as well as his inner demons.

This movie doesn't follow the story that I remember reading in the Wolverine comic books as a kid. There is only one other mutant in it and she is pretty lame. She is a hodge podge of a few different ones so not much to focus on. It's also pretty predictable as far as the story. If you don't know who the Silver Samurai is before they reveal it, you must not have been paying very close attention. The previews were misleading so I wouldn't go by them either. I liked the movie overall, but I didn't love it. They need to make sure they take better care of these characters, or they could be just like the bad DC adaptations.

This movie is based upon the 1st 4-issue comic book from 1982 written by Frank Miller (same guy who wrote Sin City, re-vamped Batman from being a campy 60's caricature, to make him grittier, and tougher back in the mid-80's. In other words, the definitive Batman we know today). Anyone who saw Wolverine: X-Men Origins please delete that movie from your mind! This has nothing to do with that one, and is considered non-canon from the other X-Men related movies. THE Wolverine, besides being excellently directed, bridges the store very nicely from X-Men 3 The Last Stand and then into X-Men: Days of Future Past, that came out this summer. Jackman does a great performance and the story is mostly true to the original comic book. I highly recommend this movie. Enjoy!

I always prefer to the extended editions of movies because most times they put a different perspective and tend to give more insight on the story. This set comes with the theatrical version on DVD, Blu-Ray, 3D Blu-Ray, Ultraviolet and a Digital Copy for iTunes. It also has the Extended version on Blu-Ray as well. Both regular Blu-Ray versions offer the "Second Screen App" option so that you can watch the movie and get more information on you tablet as well. The main Blu-Ray is the only disc that has any true extras though. It has 1) an Alternate Ending; 2) "X-Men: Days of Future Past" set tour; 3) The Path of the Ronin. Inspiration, Design, Execution, Hugh Jackman and Reflections (Evolution of Wolverine). If you like seeing how things are made and done, you will like these. Nothing thought provoking, but still good.

I went back & forth trying to decide which version of The Wolverine to get on Blu-ray. I saw it in the theater & was interested in seeing what the extended cut added to the film. The only way to get the extended cut is to get the 3D set. I was on the fence but ended up pulling the trigger. I'm glad I did. The extended version doesn't change the film radically but it does add enough IMO to warrant seeking it out.

Wolverine's past comes back to haunt him in his second solo film. The film picks up after the events of third "X-MEN" film. Logan is living alone in the backwoods, still feeling heart-broken and guilty at the events of "X-MEN 3." Soon, Logan is in Japan to visit an old friend and gets in the middle of some family matters. Japan offers a different locale and action to the mutant series. Though, the film doesn't introduce many new mutants. The two that are introduced are interesting and women. One can see a person's death and the other is a poison spewing reptile-like mutant. Not surprisingly, the film showcases the old Japanese culture and traditions. The fight on the bullet train is especially exciting. It looks great in 3D.

I saw this in theaters a couple times it was so well thought out and i had a friend that looked like the same guy , he was a force also but sadly recently passed on before i could show him this in 3D on my TV . When you first look at the cover you think yaa a kids movie with some gore thrown in . But its much more than that it is sort of like a lesson to do things good no matter what kind of person you are physically , Also sort of lets you think there might be people with super powers somewhere in reality but not quite as obvious !

This was a blind buy and I have to say i was happy with the film and the blu-ray. The Wolverine was much, much better than the previous solo Wolverine film. There were many good things about the film, the setting, the action, the special effects, and an interesting story. As always Hugh Jackman was very good as Wolverine. Was very excited to get the exclusive blu-ray. Other than thinking the packaging was a little too big, everything else was good. I loved the exclusive art, that it has the extended cut of the film, and that it came with the extra poster cards. The picture and sound quality was top-notch and it has a nice selection of extra features. Definitely recommended.

First off I have to say i love the case and extras that come with this set. Another thing is that it fits easily into a DVD/Blu Ray storage cabinet. OK now onto something other than opening the box...I'm glad this did come with the extended edition of the movie, but it wasn't that necessary either. Adds a few scenes but the scenes didn't really do anything to help build the movie so I can see why they were removed. Again this is a great movie if you don't know the source material. I'm not going to go all fan boy, but I'll just say major differences in when these events happen and how the movie goes about it. IF you don't mind that then enjoy an action thrill ride with a good plot and some very nice acting as well. I'd say totally pick this up.

I had heard a lot of complaints about The Wolverine before I saw it. So, going into the movie, I was not expecting a lot. But I've watched all of the X-Men related movies, and I didn't want to miss this one. People mentioned that the extended edition of the movie improved a bit over the theatrical version of the movie. I went out of my way to try to find this version of the movie. And honestly, I enjoyed it. It's not the best movie ever. It's not even the best X-Men movie. But it's fun. It has solid cinematography, great characterization, excellent special effects, and a decent story. I think if you go into the movie with low expectations, it's pretty easy to enjoy it.

The Wolverine hungry and his claws are sharp, When Wolverine saves a Japanese solider from the bombing in WW2 he becomes in debt to Wolverine, years pass and now that solider is the most powerful man in Japan on his death bed, he wants to thank Logan (Wolverine) for saving him all those years ago, Logan haunted by dreams of Jean who he had to kill in the 3rd X-men movie, wants to die, the Japan CEO offers Logan his wish a trade he gets logans power of Immortality and Logan gets to end his pain and die, although it turns out that that isn't the case. The Wolverine takes the you on a high octane ride that leaves you wanting more and cheering for The Wolverine.

To be honest, as soon as they announced the were making the very first X-Men movie I though, I hope one day they make a movie about Wolverine in Japan. This film delivers on just that. They only downside to this movie is they decided to make a possibly really cool character (the Silver Samurai) be a mech style battle armor and they added the Viper character. Remove those 2 elements from the film and I think you have yourself a 5 star movie. What makes this movie really work is the amazing cast, Wolverine fighting ninjas, Wolverine fighting yakuza, and Wolverine teaming up with Yukio to kick butt.

After the unfortunate critical disaster of X-Men Origins: Wolverine, everyone was justifiably nervous about this sequel. However, I'm glad to say it is much better in every way than the first film, and Hugh Jackman gives a great performance once again. As I hinted in the title, the ending is a little wonky and out of left field story-wise, but there's no denying the action is awesome and impressive to watch. Overall, a very fun movie. So if you're any sort of Wolverine, X-Men, or even Hugh Jackman fan at all, you'll definitely want to pick this one up.

I read the reviews and was a bit skeptical but heard a lot of good things about the movie. I liked watching the movie except the love scene. The movie could have used more action. Some scenes were longer than necessary. Yes this is a spin off from the X-Men series so I gave it some leeway. I liked the character Yukio Wolverines "body guard" towards the end her character really shinned. Vipers character was not impressive. I really wanted to give it a five star. Cons: love scene, more action needed, Viper Pros: (Rila Fukushima's) Yukio the bodyguard, overall good movie

While Xmen Origins Wolverine is a steaming pile of... well, you know... This entry is significantly better in almost every regard. This (mostly) grounded tale of honor and redemption sees Wolverine back in top form as he shreds through Yakuza while attempting to protect a woman and regain his lost healing ability before it's too late. And while Logan gives us all the gory bits we've always wanted from a Wolverine flick, the unrated version of this film doesn't pull many punches either. Lots of fun, thumbs up.
