Great movie focusing on wolverine
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Wolverine is one of the edgier characters in the Marvel universe, and his first solo pic reflects that reality. The film lives in the same general territory as the previous X-Men flicks, even as it inexorably amps up the content when it comes to violence and language. Apparently, we have The Dark Knight to thank for that. 20th Century Fox co-chairman Tom Rothman told Entertainment Weekly, "[X-Men Origins: Wolverine] is very bada--, and we knew it would push the furthest limit of PG-13. But once Dark Knight came out, we saw that there wasn't any level of intensity we couldn't go to." In the most literal (and probably the most important) sense, Wolverine makes good on Rothman's boast. Whereas The Dark Knight hinted at graphic violence as often as it showed it, this film dispenses with such an approach en route to the proverbial jugular. And so we get multiple impalings courtesy of Wolverine's six sharp claws. Decapitation. A pistol to the head. And the camera rarely pulls away. In another way, though, the comparison breaks down. Wolverine lacks the philosophical gravitas of previous X-Men films, which often alluded to how we should treat those who are different from us. And never mind asking the weighty ethical questions The Dark Knight tried to raise—some of which made that film feel even darker than it was on the surface. We do get a bit of banter about whether a man can change his nature or not. And that question may spark a few good after-movie discussions. But that's not really what the fourth film in this franchise is about. No, what we have here is an unpretentious, unapologetic actioner. Whatever messages might get lobbed along the way, they're never much more complex than Wolverine's adamantium-laced claws and his growling credo: "I'm the best at what I do," he tells Kayla, "and what I do isn't very nice." In the famous words of Marvel Comics creator Stan Lee, "'Nuff said."

They screwed up DEADPOOL
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was a little too pumped when I saw this movie (like I was when I saw Ghost Rider) and had higher expectations than what the movie delivered. The beginning was alright and did not disappoint, Wolverine was supposed to fall in love with Lady Deathstrike not a nobody, but alright I'll let it slide. Deadpool....the most disappointing part of the movie. Ryan Reynolds was perfect for the role, and did nothing to upset me...what upset me is that I know the powers Deadpool is supposed to have and being Baraka from Mortal Kombat and having Cyclops' powers are not part of it. They should have just created the original Deadpool and gave him his suit and had him fight with his swords, would have been a million times better no exaggeration. It was a must for Gambit to be in the movie, since he wasn't in any other x-men movies, which had upset me. Sabertooth was incredible and he saved the movie, because he was much better than the Sabertooth from the original x-men movie. Last Hugh Jackman is of course the perfect actor to play wolverine and he also did not disappoint. There were some good action scenes and they told his story well.

Great action
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I really don't understand the critics. This is not a movie for great thinkers and philosophers of our time. This is not a movie to explain to the world about the true origin of Wolverine. His character is supposed to be an enigma. You get to find out a bit more about him in this movie. Yes, much of the story line was basically 'recycled' from the various comic books previously published. But that, to me, didnot diminish the movie. Everyone should know by now. X Men movies are comic books in action/movie form. And to that end, X Men Origins was thoroughly entertaining to me. The movie was a good way to burn a couple of hours and relax.

Finally: The X-Men movies really show the truth!!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. There have been 4 X-Men based movies thus far. Really, they have all been about Wolverine with the actual X-Men far in the back ground. The guy that played Cyclops had more lines in Superman Returns as Louis Lane's husband than he did in all 3 X-Men movies combined. Now they have some nurd kid playing him. Oh well. X-Men Origins: Wolverine was about what I expected. I have given up expecting movies like this and Transformers to stay close to the originals, so it was a good movie. You get to see more of Wolverines' back story and how he lost his memory. It was cool to see Gambit and Deadpool. I was never really a deadpool fan, but this was okay, except for the sword arm thing. That was lame. I am not really even sure what Deadpool's main powers are in this movie. If you are looking for a decent movie I would recommend this. I will pick it up on BRD when it come out. 22 bucks is an awsome price.

Entertaining, but not Memorable
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The plot itself isn't anything incredible - it simply fills in the holes of "Wolverine" - most fans of the X-Men movies will appreciate this movie and the added knowledge it gives them of the character, but will not love it. The acting is pretty well done, and the filming was done very well - surround on this film was very well done and watching in Blu-Ray leaves you immersed in the action, marveling at the clarity of the picture. It's worth watching at least a few times. Watch it with the expectation of enjoying a movie that you will never add to your top-10 list, and you won't be disappointed.

A powerful action movie: X-men at its best
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Wow! 5 of 5 stars for this X-men movie! Great story, great characters, extremely well created movie! Action, sci-fi, characters, scenses, wow! OK, I am a fan of the X-men series of movies (1 to 3). Now this installment gives the history of the key character Wolverine, from young kid just discovering his mutant skills to his time at war (from WWI to Viet Nam). This is a must watch movie; oh, Blu-Ray makes a big difference!! Alot of great behind the scenes material on the Blu-Ray including an interview wth Stan Lee and a deep-dive into each character. This is now on my favorite movie list!

Great Action movie
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Wolverine is a great action movie which fills in the blanks from the previous 3 X-Men movies. The story seemed to contradict some of the stuff in the other movies, but sorts itself out later in the movie. Appreciate the comments about effects, although the mirror scene is easily the worst, done let it put you off, it gets better, much better. The Blu-ray is fantastic, the colour and detail in pretty much every scene is outstanding. The effects suffer slightly, probably because of the quality of the Blu-ray. Worthy addition to the X-Men franchise and any Blu-ray collection.

One of the better Marvel Movies.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Overall the movie was outstanding. It showed in detail how Wolverine came to be (even tho it didn't get them exactly right from the comics). If your a die hard fan of the comic, you may be disapointed. But if you can look past that it is a great movie. People that are fans of Agent X or Deadpool do not get your hopes up. They ruin both characters. But if your a fan of the X series, this is the best one out of them all.

This is a great movie
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The first time I watched this movie years ago I did not like it. After watching the new Wolverine in 3D I purchased this movie. It is actually an outstanding movie. Liev Shreiber is a great actor along with Hugh Jackman. He is in my opinion the best actor of all superheroes along with Christian Bale. This movie looked incredible on my 55 OLED TV.

I am a wolverine fan
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Enjoy this movie a lot.I am a wolverine fan. My only real complaint of the movie is that Gambit (my favorite X-Men character) did not have as much screen time as I'd hoped. He better either get his own movie, or make an appearance in a later Marvel movie.

Solid Action Movie
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was quite impressed by this movie, as I initially thought the movie would be nothing more than a ploy to make more money off the X-Men franchise. Seeing this movie on blu-ray was a real treat! The sound and picture quality are just out of this world! Some of the special effects in the movie seemed far too fake/obvious, which was unfortunate given that the other X-Men movies had such well done graphics. The plot in this movie is solid, and you get to learn more about the troubled Wolverine character. Not the best movie ever, but if you're looking to be entertained for a couple hours, this movie will certainly deliver.

Great deal
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I ordered this on Black Friday and got so I would have something to watch on my new PS3 my wife got me for Christmas. It was a great experience. The price was very low and watching it on Blu-Ray was also great. The movie is violent, lots of killing of people, so be careful about letting kids watch it. It is a great back story you liked the X-Men trilogy.

Good Movie
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Great in depth detail on the life and story of Wolverine. Shows Wolerine crossing paths with other (future) X-men but doesn't go into their stories. It leaves a taste for more "ORIGINS" series to see the story of the other X-mens' lives. Overall a great movie.

Creative liberty taken from source material.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This movie is good if watched without any prior knowledge of the main character and his comic book universe. The director took some creative liberties that may rub some Wolverine fans the wrong way. Overall the film is good.
