I love Greek mythology, so I have to say in my opinion, best game this generation. If you're into Troy, 300 Hercules or witcher 3 wild hunt, get this you won't be disappointed.

Having not played an Assassin's Creed game since Black Flag and the ho-hum Unity, I was a little skeptical when a relative who is a die hard AC fan told me to get this one. I am really glad I listened. The combat and much of the overall gameplay has been overhauled. If memory serves, past AC games ramped up the difficulty by giving you more enemies to deal with and ones with better weapons, but most could be taken down in one stealth attack. Not this one. If they're too far above you in level, you'll only be able to slightly damage them with a stealth attack. There are now several classes of weapons at all ranging from the fast, but weak to the slow, but powerful. There's also a bow. Sailing is back from Black Flag and better, IMO. A nice departure from the past games. The game also has far more sub-games than I remember other entries having. There's now ship improving. mercenaries to hunt, cultists to hunt. engravings to find to improve your gear, the main story, legendary animals to hunt, and conquest battles. All of them yield different rewards to level your character and ship. Makes for a deep and rewarding game to play. Really it's a lot like the Witcher 3, so if you were a fan of that, you'll likely enjoy this game (though I don't think the writing and voice acting is as good in this).
The cons are few and not too severe. The game can be a bit repetitive as most of these subgames involve you finding something and fighting it, but then again, what else is there to do? I suppose they could've added non-violent minigames like Witcher 3 had like horse racing, but I'm not left wishing they had. The game, while mostly beautiful does have some of that "jank" that's typical of sprawling open world games, but nothing game breaking so far. I think I was spoiled by Red Dead 2 in that regard and in the regard that the voice acting doesn't live up to the insanely high bar RDR2 also set. Honestly my biggest gripe is that I hate the parry button choice. RB and LB are tough to press together so sometimes when I mean to parry, my character does what either LB or RB do on their own. It's cost me a lot of health. I wish it was Y like it used to be.
Ant any rate though, this is a welcome refresh and if you have any interest in ancient Greece and haven't played AC in a long time, i'd say pick it up. Especially if you can get it for $20 like I did.

I bought this game a few months ago for $20.00 on sale and it is the best 20 bucks I have spent in some time.
I will not be able to leave a review as long and detailed as I want so not to contain any spoilers, but this game is AWESOME.
Warning, if you are a huge fan of the early Assassin's Creed games and that is your ideal play style this game might not be exactly what you are looking for. However, if you are a fan of open world RPG's that require some grinding but don't get too repetitive or boring, then you will love this game.
This game has an open world that is one of, if not the most beautiful world I have ever explored in a console game. It is not just huge for the sake of being huge, there are tons of things to do within the world. You can climb the peaks of just about any structure in the game (for some reason you can't climb trees) and you can swim to the bottom of the sea and navigate your way through different caves, shipwrecks etc.
The combat is addictive and fun. As you progress (level up) you will gain experience points that you can spend on different traits, styles of battle (ranged, stealth, warrior) so there are tons of different moves, skills that you can learn. Therefore you can customize your player to fight to whatever style is best for you. There are also numerous different types of weapons with different strengths/weaknesses and awesome animations that also play a part in your style of battle.
There are infinite mercenaries (much stronger enemies than most) that will chase you throughout the game if you have a bounty on you or that you can chase down throughout the game to collect one on them. They all drop special gear that you can equip or break down for materials to upgrade weapons that you prefer to use.
There are around 20 or so legendary armor sets in the game that you get from completing objectives or finding in the game world. There are dozens of legendary weapons as well. You can earn special stat bonus' from completing tasks (slayer deed, kill 100 of this or that etc.) or from actually obtaining a weapon i.e. when you collect Poseidon's Trident you can engrave (add) the ability to breathe under water to the weapon you prefer to use if you want.
Without going into too much detail. you will go on a long, eventful, non-linear open world journey in which your choices throughout the game will determine the outcome of the story.
There are hundreds of locations with unique objectives to fulfill all of which reap rewards of some sort. You will find yourself hunting legendary animals, mythological creatures, cult members, etc. You also get a ship that doubles as a home (fast travel and storage) for naval battles that you can upgrade and recruit enemies or friends throughout the game world to join as lieutenants (all of which have unique naval battle upgrades).
I played this game for over 220 hours, I am still not completely done with everything, there are still daily and weekly quests to do as even after all of the main content and DLC is done, there are randomly generated bounties and other objectives that I believe is infinite. There are so many stats, deeds, quests, skills, weapons, armor sets which enable you to fine tune the game that this is heaven on earth for an open world RPG fan.
There is an arena you can fast travel to after you discover it to partake in hand to hand combat against some of the stronger enemies in the game for special rewards. There are around 100 fast track landmarks that you can discover. Many of them are very realistic reproductions of real landmarks in Ancient Greece. Many of them lead you to being perched atop some of the highest natural points in the game with some breathtaking views.
You will move across the map as the story progresses and weaken different regions within the game world until you trigger a conquest battle (battle of 300) or you will trigger a naval battle. You will be helping either the Spartans or Athenians gain control of certain regions in another seemingly endless objective that will continue to advance with or without you. I NEVER ONCE GOT BORED playing this game!
Obviously, I would recommend this game to others. :) Pick it up on Black Friday or on sale for 20-25 dollars (there is also some awesome DLC that goes on sale quite often that would require another couple paragraphs by me to do justice to.)

The graphics are fantastic, I've only just started the epic adventure which they say has over 100 hours of play. I can't compare it to the other assassin Creeds games, but so far it's really a lot of fun and I'm enjoying it. I think for someone who's never play these games, they'll enjoy it and for those who season that's in the Assassin Creed games, this is likely right up their alley. Seeing that the games on sale or clearance, I was able to pick it up for under $20 and I think it was money well spent.

Pros and cons to this release

Odyssey suffers from many of the issues that plagued previous Assassin's Creed titles. There were several times that the character got "stuck" in walls or rocks and you cannot get him out and either have to restart the game or wait for him to die. Character voices overlap one another during conversations. Many of the missions feel repetitive. Battles with some legendary animals are much harder than their level indicates and other animals are constantly attacking when trying to beat a legendary animal. Most battles with captains result in Mercenaries joining in to make the fights nearly impossible. Otherwise, the gameplay is fun though the new controls for battles are a little complicated compared to previous titles. Scenes and backgrounds are beautifully rendered. Map is huge and there's a lot of things to do. You'll definitely get your money's worth out of Odyssey.

So many games now suffer from one major flaw, you finish the campaign and you find yourself wondering - was that worth what I paid?! You will not have that question with AC: Odyssey, not at all.
The huge open world and tremendous number of side quest will make you wonder, is there an end to this game?!? Add in the historical setting and you have an engaging game that is a great addition to the AC family - in my opinion this game more than makes up for the questionable AC titles of the past.
That said, it is not without fault - the most glaring negative is not something that is solely a AC specific issue, or a Ubisoft, the whole - you dropped $60+ on a game now give us more money - I don't mind a worthwhile season pass but the extras, the pay to get a cache of resources, the pay to get a skin that should be available in game, etc. is a bit much.
All in all, AC: Odyssey is a gorgeous game (playing on the one x) that is full of gameplay.

If you enjoyed AC origins, you will really enjoy Odyssey. Assassins Cred Odyssey expands on the new style AC game and adds even more features. The new fighting style of Origins is continued and expanded in Odyssey. Allowing players to choose from three branches (Hunter, Warrior, Assassin) or a mix of the 3.
The story allows you to choose the main antagonist from the brother and sister duo or Kassandra or Alexios as you travel throughout a huge ancient Greece world.
New features to the franchise include the Mercenary system, the Occult as well as ships. All three expand on the good foundation of what Origins brought.
If you like the Origins concept this game is for you. Beware though it is a different game type then traditional AC games.
Similar games in terms of play style would be action RPGs such as AC Origins and Dragon Age Inquisition.
Unisoft continues to support the game with a huge update (1.1) dropping 11/29 as well as DLC throughout 2019.
Overall this is on my top 5 list for game of the year 2018.

This game is amazing and freaking HUGE! There is so much content, always something to do, explore and delve. The ship battles are amazing and very nostalgic to the thrill of those found in Black Flag. The bounty hunters that hunt you in the world are similar to that of those found in the Shadow of War series. The story driven narrative and choices that bare consequence is that of the Witcher. If you're a fan of any of these games then you're definitely going to enjoy this one. I will admit, it does all these things well but it's these traits aren't as good as the ones that emphasized it. The game comes off as a jack of all trades but a master at none. That being said it's not like it does any of them badly. They're just not perfect as the. With so much content and so much to do there is definitely something here for everyone, highly recommend this game and it well deserves a 5 star rating.

I was totally expecting a reskin of last year's Origins and I would have been happy with that. But this is a much more fully fleshed-out world with a lot more to do and a lot more places to see! I'm also enjoying the story a lot more than I expected. This is the Assassin's Creed RPG. It has elements from Black Flag and Origins Blended together perfectly! This title also retains a lot of elements of older Assassin's Creed games, so it really feels like a combination of the best games in the series. I'm only about halfway through and I can honestly say, as a long-time Assassin's Creed fan, that this is the absolute best game in the entire series! Not only that but if you've never been a fan of the series this is the perfect introduction to it. Regardless of if you're a fan or not this game has a little something for everybody and it's just so much fun! Definitely one of the best games I've ever played and a complete must-own!

It's an AC game with a HUGE open world. There's a lot to do, but as always with AC games it can almost feel like too much. Too many side quest options, too many tasks, etc..
The world and characters are great. Several surprises throughout the story. Glitchy at times and in weird ways (characters threatening and saying voice lines like they were fighting you but just sitting there) climbing strangeness. But it's an absolute BLAST.

I picked this up awhile back friends at work were talking about it and it kind of interested me so I decided to get it. I haven't really played much of the ac collection a little bit of the first two and moved on to other things this game though wow, I can't put it down the map is huge so many missions and side quests the story is good there is so much going on with this game. I wasn't initially feeling the Roman setting but it has definitely grown on me. The detail this developer put into the environment and overall history of the time is completely amazing. This game is getting me so excited for vahalla that was just announced. Beware you will spend over 100 hours on this game easy.

I've played every major game in the AC series - it's my favorite game series and I've really enjoyed most of them (Syndicate was stupid). If you're looking for a huge open world game that's been really well done, whether you like the series or not, play this. Really the only downside for me is that they've made it an RPG.
The "leveled" weapons, gear, characters etc. are really annoying to me. For a game whose roots are in history and realism (granted with a bit of a sci-fi twist), stabbing someone in the back that you've snuck up on should be a quick kill, not an infinitesimally small bit of damage because they're a "23" and you're a "7". You can CARRY a weapon of a higher level than yourself, but goodness no, you can't USE it, silly! That kind of nonsense grinds my gears.
The other RPG thing (new with Odyssey) is the "choose your own dialogue options" bit. I personally don't want to "write my own story", I'm supposed to be living the past generally as it happened, not trying to figure out which option will fail the quest (which can happen, and I don't think they show up again later) and which one will be the most beneficial going forward.

I’m currently playing the game with 40 hours in and still 45% of the map is still undiscovered. The game gives you the best combat to date and the navel exploration and battles are the best since black flag. The main story is absolutely amazing, truly the best one in the series plus playing a female assassin is a nice change of pace.
Got the game when it was $5 a few weeks ago and don’t regret it a bit

This was my first time playing an AC game, and though it might deviate from the series formula,, it was outstanding. Legitimately comparable to an open world RPG, something like The Witcher 3, albeit with bit less weight given to all your choices. The Ancient Greece setting is stunning and vast, and will provide hours of entertainment.

Assassins creed is starting to hit its second stride. I haven't enjoyed much of AC since 2 (ezio story). I have tried all since then, but none have held my attention past the first couple hours. Boy did that change with odyessy. This iteration hooks you from the get go. There are an overwhelming amount bt of things to do, and the main story keeps things interesting making you want to push forward.

I beat the game twice, and unockes every acheivement. Pros: open world, 4k, hdr, beautiful sceneries. Great story. Combat is amazing, no buttonnmashing, it requires real skill, dodging and usjng your shield, attention to the detail when it comes to textures graphics etc..
Cons: bit repetative, world is lack8ng some life, not enough interavtions
