I'm someone who played this AFTER playing Xenoblade Chronicles 2. I had never played this game and was excited to play the first installment in the series, but honestly found it a little lacking compared to the second game. I didn't get as attached to the characters in this one. I had to change the voiceover to Japanese with English subtitles because some of the voices were a little grating, plus some of the tropes had me rolling my eyes a lot. The story was crazy and really interesting though. I love this series a lot and hope they continue to make more installments.

The original Xenoblade Chronichles on the Wii is one of the most revered games of its respective era. Still I was hesitant to buy it on Switch due to my general distaste for RPGs. Not that I hate them, I'm a big fan of the Mario & Luigi RPGs, I'm just not a fan of the static turn-based combat found in most titles. However, when I found an excelent sale on top of having some limited-time coupons, I decided it was time to play it. I'm 55 hours in and only playing on casual mode, but I've really been enjoying the game. While the combat can be a bit repetitive at times, it allows for more dynamic approaches to battle than I expected, which is a pleasant surprise. The main pull for me, however, is the story itself. All the characters involved are likeable in their own respects, something not easily done, and I'm excited to see where the story will go from this point forward. This game has pleasantly surprised me and I'd definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a good RPG to sink their time into.

I highly recommend Xenoblade Chronicles for anyone that enjoys RPG’s or games with incredible storytelling. I cannot commend this games story, characters, and music enough. However, I have no choice but to rate it four stars instead of five because of me being a little disappointed with how the graphical upgrades were handled. Don’t get me wrong, the game looks YEARS better than it did on the Wii, but it’s still not good enough for a 2020 game, and there’s no excuse as to why it runs it runs at such low resolutions. You don’t really notice the lower resolutions when the Switch is docked and playing on your TV, but when you play it portable mode, that’s when the game becomes an ugly, blurry mess. If you own a Switch Lite or use a regular Switch in portable mode a lot, just keep in mind that the game is gonna run at incredibly low resolutions. Play Xenoblade while your Switch is docked to your TV if you can so you can truly enjoy this incredible game.

The remake of this game was very well crafted by Monolith Soft itself; I've played this many hours between TV & Handheld mode. This game is a must have for any jrpg fan new & old. Story is really great & content along with the open world landscape is just stupendous to no end. Do yourselves a justice & play this masterpiece on the Switch. Worth every dollar truly.

This remaster is excellent. The new character models look far superior to the original ones, the remastered music is a treat, and the gameplay is still a blast. The open world environments are fun to explore and there's always a lot to do. Sometimes there's too much to do, namely sidequests, but they are optional and sometimes very rewarding. I still believe this is the best Xenoblade title of the three currently released.

The story and combat are fun. The combat mimics many MMORPG cooldown bars, where actions have cool downs after using them. Selecting the actions via the action bar requires using the D pad, which feels clumsy. For example if you want to use an action that delivers maximum damage when used behind the target, you need to position your character behind the enemy then use the d-button to travel through the action bar to select the action you want. What typically happens to me is by the time I get the action button that I want, the target moves so that I no longer behind him, and the action no longer will deliver as much damage. I wish they would have use the system like FFXIV, where selecting a trigger button assigns the actions to the face buttons. It is still a fun game even with what I feel is clumsy controls, nevertheless.

Now a lot of people have debated whether this is considered a remake or not. I can tell you that many agree that it is. Character models and textures were redone with the Xenoblade 2 engine. With better refinement that addressed the issues the engine had. Many people have been making a big deal about the lower resolutions in handheld mode. Yeah, it dips but it’s not nearly as bad as everyone is making it seem. It’s not nearly as bad as 2 was in handheld mode. A bunch of pointless drama that was brought up for YouTube clickbait/views. If you have a Switch lite, the higher ppi makes it look great in handheld mode. So that would be the most ideal way to play it in handheld if you want it to look as good as possible.

Game is good, much better then the sequel and recommend it to anyone who enjoys RPGS. Best Buy email code took like 2 hours though so be aware that the emailing system is a bit finicky and in past experiences it would not email for hours then say their was an error or just not email anything

It is a very good game with a very good story! If you like anime you will like this game a lot but if you don’t it will be a bit or miss.It has standard jrpg troupes and concepts but they do them really well and it is enjoyable . Gameplay is very addictive and the enimes are very hard most of the times . That or I just suck at the game . But over all 9/10 olny thing I didn’t like was the resolution in handheld mode It was fuzzy .

Xenoblade always amazes me. What amazes me even more is that this game is criminally underrated, the story and visuals are a work of art and the gameplay is addictive once you get the hang of it. The characters are lovable and the side quests make the game more personal because you get to see what everyone goes through in their lives. Xenoblade is a good game with a great message and I'd recommend it to anyone.

I've been playing this game for approximately 25 hours now and I have to say that this is a fantastic game. As an avid RPG player I was kind of skeptical, but the overall graphics and gameplay are smooth, the story is unique, fun, and engrossing, and the side quests add so much more content. I'll definitely be purchasing Xenoblade Chronicles 2 to continue.

A well rounded, challenging game, which tests ones ability to multitask through auto attack combat with never ending abilities for characters to evolve from. The story is set amongst two main bodies, the Homs and Mechons; who were created when their currently worlds (two figures fighting another) suddenly stopped in the midst of combat. Two species set against another and you must ensure one can survive.
