Customers praise the AMD Radeon R9 390 8GB graphics card for its high performance, substantial RAM, and competitive price. Many appreciate its effective cooling system and the high frame rates it delivers in games, along with the included warranty. However, some users note that the card is large and can be noisy under heavy load, while others mention power consumption and occasional driver-related issues. A few also reported experiencing coil whine.

upgrade from a r9 280x to r9390

-Everything about this card is better. I loved my r9 280x when I used it and I love this card. It runs Tom Clancy's The Division at 55-60 fps on Ultra. Long story short, the card doubles the fps of r9 280x on every game including GTA V. Word of warning, if you are getting this for the free game be prepared to be disappointed. I spent two weeks speaking with customer service through Best Buy and AMD and no one for with me to fix the issue. They wanted me to return the cats to get the game. I say, screw that news. I want to keep my awesome card.

I've had this card for a couple months and it's been amazing. Before I got it, Mad Max would run at 30 fps on low graphics, but after installing it (relatively easy), it started running at 90fps on ultra graphics. Safe to say I'm pretty happy with my purchase!

Great for the cost and easy set up. If you are looking for a wired headset that you can basically plug and just use, this works just fine. Sound quality is decent for what you pay for, nothing too exciting, but good enough to be enjoyable.

I wanted a GTX1080 but alas I cant justify the price of $800. This is great for my system and will last me for the next year or two. Great deal for what it is. I tried running GTA V on its highest settings and it lagged a bit. I dont think it can really use the 8 GB effectively. I will say it is a vast improvement on the 2 760Ti's I was running in SLI. Battlefront is my main squeeze right now and it looks amazing. I think it can do 4K but honestly if you are going for a 4K setup I would fork out a bit more for the GPU.

This card is so amazing it can bend time and space. However it can run on the hot side so a side panel case fan is almost a must unless your case has good cooling. (New drivers have helped with this so keep it up to date.) With that being said I would not recommend overclocking unless you have a water block for it. Great for gaming!! I luv this card and would buy it again!!

For the price best card available, only draw back is very little computers have 3.0 pci slots. It is backwards compatible, but until it catches up, full use of the card isn't determined.

Great Card for a Great Price

I originally had a NVidia 660ti, but after upgrading my monitor to one that supports 1440p. This ended up making a card that was doing pretty well with modern games seem aged very quickly, such as GTA:V. I was originally considering staying on NVidia, but instead of dumping ~$700 on a 980ti, I decided to try AMD/ATI again after using NVidia cards for my last 4 builds.
Pros:
1. Able to do GTA:V with near perfect specs at 1440p/60fps
2. Completely silent when idle
3. Able to power three monitors with no issues and easier to change between different layouts and setups than NVidia's monitor manager
4. Great Price
Cons:
1. When maxed out can be hot and have a high-pitch wine. Every other point is cold and silent.
2. Very long card, so also make sure you have the space

I have been building my own computers (and computers for friends & family) for about 20 years. I have used almost exclusively Nvidia cards for the last 15 years or so. My experience with ATi cards years ago were not the greatest. Very finicky drivers, hardware conflics, etc... My old Nvidia powered 9600GTs (SLI) were getting woefully old, although they still worked, they are OLD. They have lived in 2 different boxes and 3 motherboards, for about 6 years. After many painstaking comparisons and shopping around, I decided to give AMD/ATi another shot. Spec-wise this card should give Nvidia a run for it's money. The comparable priced Nvidia cards only had 4g 256bit GDDR5 memory while this one had 8g 512bit GDDR5 memory.
The Nvidia cards have a 3 year warranty, this one bought at BestBuy has a LIFETIME warranty. Says it right on the box. Other comparisons were pretty similar memory clock speeds etc... although the Nvidia cards claim 1664 "cuda cores" (Data streams, pipelines, what ever you want to call the paths for data flow) and this one claims 2560 "Stream Processors" . It gets respectable 3Dmark scores and in my rig scores in the upper 30% of single core-single card boxes. If you want to spend more money you can have a faster card, but this will run most any game you want at high settings even maybe extreme settings. And the thing is so quiet, I had to touch the fans just to make sure they were running. I know I used to have two cards, but I didn't realize just how noisy they were. I'm happy I pulled the trigger. It installed super easy, not like the ATi cards of olden days. And it runs multiple monitors like a dream. (Will support up to 6 monitors) You won't be disappointed if you buy this over the Nvidia cards. Did I mention BestBuy's LIFETIME warranty?

Build a high end gaming PC from scratch and couldn't have made a better choice for our graphics card. It's the best bang for your buck out there.

I love this card. It is a beast. I don't chase benchmark stats, I just wanted a good card that wasn't ridiculously overpriced. This card was perfect and holds its own with the best GPCs out there today and doesn't break the bank.

You probably can't get something better at this price (even though it isn't the best graphic card out there obviously). I bought two of these for a dual GPU setup.

This is a powerful graphics card . . . probably more than I need, because I usually don't play the really demanding and intensive games; but this card will be able to handle anything I throw at it (and then some) for years to come. So far, it is very quiet and very cool. And with Best Buy's Lifetime warranty, how can you go wrong? One caveat: the card's size, especially length, is surprising, even impressive; check to make sure it will fit your computer case before buying.

XFX R9 390 2 months of use

I was sick and tired of running the new game on low setting with my gtx 660 at low fps, so I decided to upgrade to a gtx 970 4gd. Then I stumble across R9 390 with twice the vram. Oh boy, hard decision to make right, so I then do more research watching video, synthetic performance, and blogs. I decided to pick up r9 390 for one reason only it is that it has twice the vram than the gtx 970. Fast forward 2 months later running almost all games max out setting with 60fps on 1080p monitor. The product temperature on idle sit around 34c and on load it sit around 70c-74c. The card fans make fairly noisy on load, but it doesn't bother me too since I am wearing a headset. The negative I find about this product is that it hard to fit in a mid tower case and few driver issue. I won't knock a star because it is mainly amd fault not xfx. All in all, I think it is a great product to run many games at 1080p max setting.:)
