Customers praise the AMD Radeon R9 390 8GB graphics card for its high performance, substantial RAM, and competitive price. Many appreciate its effective cooling system and the high frame rates it delivers in games, along with the included warranty. However, some users note that the card is large and can be noisy under heavy load, while others mention power consumption and occasional driver-related issues. A few also reported experiencing coil whine.

Upgrading from Radeon 280x. Massive upgrade. Wanted the 8GB Vram. Performance is amazing in latest games and also in older DX9 titles as well on eyefinity. I never used XFX before I always went with ASUS or Sapphire, but I am satisfied so far. Card is quiet even around 50% fan and runs cool while gaming. Solid back plate and good construction. Radeon cards age well so this awesome performance will last well into the future.

Great, but one flaw

Card runs everything great and stays at normal temps under load. Sometimes cooler. The only downside of the card is that it has a horribly annoying coil whine when it stars to kick into gear. If you wear headphones or don't mind it much then it isn't a big deal but it IS noticeable, especially if your PC is on top of a desk or just near you.

This card is great for the money. Considered getting the GTX 970 at first but after reading many reviews and doing some additional research i'm glad I chose this card. The card runs way hotter than my GTX 660 did but that is obviously to be expected with how much power this card requires and the performance it puts out. I am running it with a 700 watt Xion PSU and the idle temps are between 35-43 Degrees celsius, and about 70-80 degrees C when under load. I was a bit nervous at first regarding the temps but that is only because I came from an old GTX card that got to 60 degrees C max, but it hasn't throttled itself yet! Its a work horse!
I have however had a few crashes during GTA5 and black ops 3 both maxed out, not sure why but i'm sure it'll be fixed down the road. That is the reason i took off one star.
Definitely get this card! Amazing bang for the buck! Go team red!

Don't fall for the false reviews for the R9 390

This GPU is Fu**ing Phenomenal for the price. It'll literally run every game you play on ultra @ 4k with 60+ fps. Because this card is only $350, many people put it in comparison with the GeForce GTX 970. DO NOT FALL FOR THIS! This card is not the GTX 970's competition. It blows the 970 out of the water on benchmarks. Granted the 970 is the same price, this card was made in response to Nvidia's 980/980ti. This video card out benches the 980 AND 980 ti in 4k gaming. Fast Texturing

The 8GB of memory helps out in putting on textures to simulated objects, this being used in a simulation world program, rather than a regular video game, where there are all kinds of random textures on things that people add to the simulation themselves. This is what I figured out from experience in this program, is that if anything slows down your program, then it is exactly that, and why this card is a good solution to a better experience in this type of program, where the card is not fighting for space to add textures every time you move from one region to another. The video card itself is big, as was mentioned by another reviewer her, bigger than the full-sized nvidia card that I was replacing for this one. I had to remove the rack for extra harddrives in my computer case in order to fit it in, luckily on this dedicated computer to this one program, I was only running one HD.

its nice that this this is 8GB, however it wont actually process more than 4GB in most games, so the rest goes unused even on ultra settings.
this thing is MASSIVE, it just BARELY fit into my case, Great upgrade from my R7 260x though!

I was looking for a replacement GPU, my HD6950 was showing it's age after 5 years. Still runs strong but finally settled and picked up this GPU. As expected it performs like a beast. The card has VSR(Virtual Super Resolution) which I love and it can still keep 60+ FPS in certain games.

Excellent GPU for Gaming and Video Editing

Purchased this GPU this weekend, very pleased with the price and performance. Coming from NVidia's GTX980 the R9 390's 512bit memory bus width in addition to the 8GB of GDDR5 makes for smooth gaming. For those who do video editing this GPU is a plus.
I highly recommend this GPU over an NVidia GPU. Those of you waiting to buy NVidia's high priced GTX1080 or 1070's please do yourself a favor and watch what AMD has coming on the horizon.

I chose to purchase this card from Best Buy when the RX 480 became out of stock upon launch day and has been since along with people reselling the cards for anywhere from $300-400. The card itself runs very cool (65 deg C) under gaming load and gives me anywhere from 60-90 fps in most games at either high or ultra settings. Also, this card has a lifetime warranty directly through Best Buy itself. So if anything happens where the card burns out somehow or whatever, I can return it and get it's equivalent value for a new card. Hands down the best choice for an AMD based graphics card solution at this point in time (since I didn't want to wait a whole other 6 months to a year for an aftermarket version of the rx 480).

I spent quite some time debating on which 390 to go with. I looked for many days researching heat levels, overclocking potential and PCB thermals. This was one of the only 390's that had a low temperatures on the PCB and overall areas. Very stable with overclocking and intelligent cooling design. Backplate is very sleek and should look great in any system. I've been very happy with my decision and I wish this card had more review coverage.

Excellent Low Price Graphics Card

This card is simply amazing. I bought it to replace my ailing GTX 660Ti and am so glad I did. Price for performance is awesome, I honestly never thought I could get this type of performance out of a $300 GPU!
I play BF4 and BF Hardline and both get around an AVG of 80 FPS on ULTIMATE settings (yes EVERYTHING is maxed out). This to me is a really good indicator that this card will last quite a few generations and still keep up with new and even more demanding games.
All in all I am 100% satisfied with my purchase and I would wholeheartedly recommend this GPU to anyone. That's saying a lot as I was a huge Nvidia fanboy before this purchase!

This Card pretty much falls into between an 970 and 980, It has raw power out of the box, have yet to oc the card. Have to say this is one of the best cards in this price range and it has 8gb of vram. All setings maxed out, CsGo, STO, Battlefield 4, Fallout 3-4, Batman Arkham Origins, Batman Arkham City ,Batman Arkham Asylum all max settings and had to adjust draw distance on fallout 4. Also if you stream, or record game play from pc, or a console, this card should be in your rig.

I had the r9 270x previously, and it did a great job, so when this came out, with its 8gb of gddr5, I knew I'd be purchasing a 4k TV to hook up in the future, so this was the perfect card. Super easy setup, and great performance. Able to run witcher 3 maxed out, with no trouble at all!

Installation of card & software went without a glitch. It's been in service for a couple of weeks now and working great! Rise of the Tomb Raider looks awesome with all settings at max that are available. The card is DX 12 ready and is designed for PCIe 3.0 slot but is working awesome with my older motherboard that has a PCIe 2.0 slot on Win 7 64 bit.

Of course you might compare this card to the 970 but that card has a well known issue with limited ram capability [3.5 anyone?] but this card basically dials the 290 to 11 with 8 gigs of video memory. This is a solid investment for the next gen games and VR gaming. Comparing it to my reference 6950 2gb was like comparing a stuttering slideshow to a buttery smooth experience in an OLD game like the original FarCry [6950 stutters badly]. Fan of Fallout 4? Buy this card. Runs it like a champ. Like a CHAMP! [Alpha Protocol reference but it's true].
