Customers highly value the performance and affordability of the Hard Swap Edition AMD Radeon RX 480 graphics card, frequently citing significant performance improvements and a competitive price point. Many also praise the card's quiet cooling system and ease of installation. While some users found the LED lighting too bright, the overall experience with graphics quality and frame rates in various games was overwhelmingly positive.

Always purchased AMD cards and processor but this card crashes on me randomly. 1 crash = 5 game losses in overwatch which is more than an hours worth of gaming. use to love amd but forget this, going nvidia for my next build.

The summary as shown. I wanted to upgrade from a 4gb and it just didn't work. Would cut on and off. I have a 1200 watt power supply so the card had problems

It met all my expectations for a mid grade gaming video card, until it died 2 days later. AMD/XFX needs to up their QC game imho.

I can only play games for about 10 minutes before my computer crashes. It performs great for those 10 minutes though! We will see if XFX and Best Buy will hold up their end for returns and warranties to make this right.

Bought it to go along with my oculus since amd pitched it as a powerful car for a low price and its vr ready. Well it kept on crashing again and again and couldn't even handle the oculus for more than five minutes. It could be that I had a bad card but I do say this for anyone wanting to get one. Try it out and run becnhmarks and if it crashes multiple times your better of returning.

This is the best RS version you can get.

The model number for the Best Buy version is RX-480P8LFLR. THIS IS the 8GHz memory versus the 7GHz version (of other RS version).
The only faster version from XFX is the Black Editions, and that includes for example, 4 heat pipes versus 3 for this, and a GPU OCed to 1338MHz versus 1288MHz also. Why did I pick this up versus the Black Editions, because Best Buy is 10mins away, and those listed differences (between this and the B.E.) really does not make any real world differences in performances.
I bought this for my kid's PC, and I still have my older gens 7900 series in crossfire, and I'm a bit jealous of the efficiency and performance for the price. This thing seems to run Fallout 4 at a higher, and with better FPS than my pair of OCed and watercooled 7900 cards.
I suggest going directly to XFX website to compare the different versions if it is your preferred brand.
Game On, and I'll see you in the battlefield!

1080p Gaming Dream

After buying a similar ASUS RX480 and having issues with it causing my computer to lock up and crash, I decided to buy local and picked up the XFX RX480. I don't have any past history with XFX so I took a chance. This card performs great - no more crashing computer! I installed the card and downloaded AMD's latest drivers with zero issues. I have increased the clock speed to 1475 MHz with the Wattman utility from AMD. All of my games clock in at 1080p 60FPS or higher. I have not tired a higher res, but my guess is that it would do fine for most games. As long as the card isn't defective and you don't have a bottleneck, this card should do what you need. Note: LEDs on the fans are blinding. Fans are interchangeable for different colors too which is a nice bonus.

I bought this card thinking that for the price, it must be the XFX Black Edition of the RX 480, which features a beefy cooler and a factory overclock above 1300 mhz. I was wrong.
This is a special edition card that XFX builds for Best Buy. Other than the two white LED fans, there isn't much special about it. The card's overclocked slightly higher than a stock RX 480 and comes with a heat sink and three pipes rather than the four on the black edition.
So while that might be disappointing, the card's performance isn't. I bought the RX 480 to replace a Sapphire R9 270. I'd been using it to play Doom 2016 at around 45 fps using the Vulkan API. That was at 1080p using medium settings.
I thought Doom probably couldn't look much better. But when I ran it with the RX 480 at the same settings, I was getting well above 100 fps. So I cranked up the settings and went to 1440p, which is the native resolution of my monitor. The game looks amazing and averages around 70 fps. Wow! I am impressed.
I also ran the Metro At Last Light benchmark for comparison. With the R9 270, my system averaged 49 fps. With the RX 480, it average 68 fps at the same settings. It's definitely a noticeable improvement.
Another minor annoyance was the after I installed the card and turned on my PC, only one of the fans lit up and spun. I thought perhaps this was a power-saving feature, but it wasn't. When I ran the MSI Kombustor stress test, the card's temp suddenly shot up to 83C and only one fan ran. I knew something was wrong.
I tried swapping the removable fans (a very nice feature, by the way) and made sure the contacts solidly clicked into place. This time, both fans worked. The card idles around 57C. During prolonged gaming or while running the Kombustor stress test, when the temp hits 70C, the fans kick in and the temp stays around 67-68C. If the fans are making more noise while running at high loads, I can't hear it over my system fans. This may not be the XFX Black Edition cooler, but it definitely does the job.
I have no plans to overclock this card, so I haven't even tried. I think the fact that XFX put a slimmed-down version of its cooler on it is an indication that it isn't intended for overclocking.
The card looks good and seems well made. Between the white LED fans and the lighted XFX logo, it puts out a lot of light. I don't have a windowed case, so that doesn't matter much to me. There doesn't seem to be any way to change the logo's color, although you can buy the LED fans in different colors.
Overall, I really like the way this RX 480 performs. The one thing I don't like is the price. $290 is too much for a slightly improved reference card. If you have your heart set on an RX 480 that overclocks well, look at the XFX Black Edition or the 8GB Sapphire Nitro, both of which should be available for around the same price.

Wanted something that could run GTA V on very high settings with minimal/no stutter (which my card before this one was having issues with (Gtx950 2gb)).
I hate paying/waiting for shipping so I went to best buy and this card seemed like the best one in terms of price to functionality ratio.
Obviously straight after buying it I fired up GTA V and maxed out every setting.
Works great / Couldn't be happier.

Purchased this card to replace my quad setup of Hd5970 since they went to legacy support. Right now I have only one and it is fast enough to hit all the same scores I had with a quad setup. I will be buy three more later. I am very pleased.

A Stylish, slightly Smaller card, but hot and loud

This is a good card and it looks and feels BEAUTIFUL, especially with the light-up fans and logo and the stylish backplate, but I have to warn that when you run it at max or close to max capacity that it runs fairly hot and loud. Yes it is better than a reference blower card (in a well-ventilated case, in a poorly ventilated case it's actually worse, and you should get a blower card to vent the heat directly out using the GPU's blower fan) but not by a huge amount.
The card can run surprisingly hot when you play a game that actually stresses it (like The Division, or many GPU-bound games on Ultra settings) and when the fans spin up over 50%, they can be very audible, and the quality of the noise isn't great as they sound rough buzzy enough to be heard over case fans. No high pitched whine though, which is good.
This is one of the smaller RX 480's at around 9.45", with I think only the Gigabyte G1 being any smaller, and the Sapphire Nitro being about similar in length. It's a double-slot cooler, like almost every 480. That doesn't mean that it's small by any means though. The backplate gives it a decent thickness, and in smaller cases (including some older mid-size cases that have drive bays in the middle that are non-removable) the length and height is enough to block the middle of the case and impede airflow.
So if you have a smaller case and/or a case with not very good airflow, I recommend you just get a reference card like this one instead:
http://www.bestbuy.com/site/xfx-custom-backplate-xxx-oc-radeon-rx-480-8gb-ddr5-pci-express-3-0-graphics-card/5446220.p?skuId=5446220
Lastly, I'd like to say that 8gb on this card is nice and makes it more futureproof, so if the 6gb 1060 is sold out and you're looking at an 8gb 480, don't be afraid to pull the trigger. Most games nowadays don't use more than 4gb (and if so, they just use really poorly optimized textures to stress your card for no reason to make it seem like your card is doing something) but there are some games that actually make use of a lot of VRAM for a good reason like to make skin look ultra-realistic like Rise of the Tomb Raider.
Yes, the 4gb 470's and 480's are good cards for now (although I don't like the 3gb 1060's as I feel that the ram is not enough AND they're 11% slower than the 6gb 1060 because they're cut-down, weaker chips) and even the immediate future, but the 6gb 1060 and especially the 8gb 480 are I feel the best investments right now for the further future in the midrange segment.

The performance of the Rx 480 is well documented and doesn't need to be talked about here. I've seen online people complaining about the RS version running hot, but I did not experience that with this model from Best Buy. When the GPU isn't running games the fans are usually off. At the current price the GTX 1060 6B offers more performance. If you plan on getting a Freesync monitor this card is a no brainer.
