    A Pleasant Surprize

Back in the day, I wasnt enthused when Mike Howe took over for David Wayne. He wasnt nearly as original sounding as Wayne & the whole thing didnt grab me. Fast forward 26 years and Howe is back in the fold for a heavy, catchy, in-your-face, classic metal record thats better than anything they've recorded in years. The song writing is top-notch: heavy, yet totally accessible at the same time. It has that classic metal sound, but still manages to sound current. Old fans, you'll still love it. Newer, younger fans - if you want to check out a classic act that still has what it takes, you wont be disapointed.

Mike Howe-era Metal Church has always been my favorite and XI is a fine return to form for Metal Church. It's like no time has passed at all since he left after Hanging in the Balance back in '93. You could put this cd into a playlist with all the other Howe-fronted Metal Church albums and you would barely notice a difference. Except maybe in production quality. Old MC fans won't be disappointed.

It's been 20 years since Mike was in the band and though I have always loved this band, his passion and delivery really bring Kurt's musicality and songwriting to life. Love that they are still making solid records after all these years. If you ever liked this band you already are buying this, but if you like hard rock with some thrash overtones give it a try.

Metal Church has been around since the head-banging days of the 80's and still making good stuff today. I took a chance on this one without sampling it first and I'm very pleased with the decision. Not the heavy metal album of the year but they are true to their vintage sound and some real hard pounding tracks are presented here.

Prolific second singer Mike Howe returns to create a great nostalgic vibe, as he was the front man of the band during their most prolific period as "Headbanger's Ball" darlings in late 80's. Solid songwriting and performances by all, especially the drumming of Jeff Plate of Trans-Siberian Orchestra fame.

Loved this band when they first burst onto the metal scene some 20 years ago. Not much has changed as they can still play it fast and loud. A great band that can still play and put shame to these new bands who can't even come up with a guitar solo. Let alone know what that is.

For some reason it's kept in the back, so you have to ask a rep to get a copy. The return of Mike Howe. This recording picks up exactly where they left off, at their best. Fantastic return to form.

Classic Metal Church. It's hard to believe they've been doing this more than 30 years, they still sound great. Powerful vocals, energy-filled motivational music!

A very solid HARD ROCK album. If your more of a fan of their earlier THRASH sound(from their 1st 3 albums) you will be either suprised or disappointed.
