The game is an action/fighting game about the Japanese yakuza mafia scene. Great story and action only knock is it's only in Japanese with English subtitles.

So, thus far America has received the Yakuza games in this order: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 0, and 1 again, which is where we are today. And I could not be happier, because these games... they are pure, mainlined, supercharged fun. The gameplay is pretty much a fisticuffs version of GTA, along the lines of Sleeping Dogs but much pulpier and a little bit campier. You'll be smacking and punching and kicking your way through Tokyo while doing your best to fight through the denizens of the Japanese mafia, the Yakuza. There is literally- literally- nowhere to turn in this game where there isn't something action packed and insanely wild. Sword fights? Gun battles? Kung fu? Rocket launchers? You name it, it's in here. And then some! The story is wonderful as well, putting you in the (hideous, leather) shoes of Kazuma Kiryu, a Yakuza member who goes through immediate and irreversibly terrible repercussions within the first couple seconds of the game. After these spoiler-free tragedies are out of the way, it's time for your enemies to PAY. No one messes with Kiryu-chan's girl and best friend and adoptive father figure and lives to tell the tale. And if they do live, it's with a severe limp for the rest of their lives. Yakuza Kiwami! The PS4 remake of the original Yakuza 1 legend! Buy it! Like a DRAGON would.

If you are a fan of the Yakuza Game Series, get this game. If you played or if your first game in the series was Yakuza 0, definitely get this game. If you never played a Yakuza game and want to give this one a go, then go for it. But for absolute first timers, I would suggest really taking your time to get the fighting styles down. (also save up exp to get your kiwami finishers for all three styles trust me it will be less painful for you) The majima everywhere system is a joy that I can't describe. The combat is lifted straight from Yakuza 0 so it should be easy to pick up and play or at least learn on the go. Also, the substories are back and like before they can range from hilarious to cute and heartwarming to just overall satisfying. I totally recommend it.

This remake of Yakuza 1 is really faithful and the compared to the original PS2 version of the game it's pretty much night and day.

Need more good games like this. More remake than remastered. Awesome steel book and can't really beat the price! Play on!

I love how Yakuza Kiwami simultaneously recreates the original Yakuza using the crisp Yakuza 0 engine and also adds plenty of new features. My only complaint is that this game feels like a half-step from Yakuza 0, it reuses the past fighting styles--which, given, are new to the original Yakuza--and as a result feels a little like recycled material and assets. But overall it is still a solid experience with a rich world, and it is a very good Yakuza game. I think that it is also a great place to start for newcomers, and it faithfully recreates the original while also tying the story together more deftly following Yakuza 0 (the prequel story).

The story is on point,the gameplay is stunning. Good choice if your looking for a great story. Great game.

If you aren't familiar with the Yakuza game series, you are in for a treat. This is one of the few games that I always watch the cutscenes for. The action and storylines are both great. The game is a remake of an earlier playstation game. It's a lot of fun to play and I highly recommend it.

If you loved Shenmue, you'll love the Yakuza series. It's similar to Shenmue, only without the sailors and a better story. On top of that, it's action packed, dark, and gritty. If you're unfamiliar with the series This game is a great introduction as it is a remake of the 1st game that was released on the PS2 in 2005. For the small price of $30 you simply cannot do any better as you can get over a 100 hours of gameplay out of this game.

My first Yakuza game started with the series newest installation, Yakuza 0, a prequel to the events of the previous worked in games. What I love about this franchise, is that it manages to stir in several elements of different genres to maintain a rich, thrilling story of how Japan's biggest crime syndicate operates even if it might be a tad exaggerated at times. What's more brilliant about this game is that characters are created to be memorable, each has a significant trait that individualizes them and while combat is a tad repetitive(if I say so myself) it makes up for with an upgrade system that enhances your characters abilities. It's somewhat open-world. Because while you can traverse the "friendly" neighborhood of Kamurocho. The city isn't as vast as you'd expect it. However, this is to be expected, since this game is a refresh of the original game that was released on the PS2. Anyways I recommend and I hope everyone playing this game enjoys a great campaign!

I love Yakuza games. What's not to love? It's a 3rd person action RPG where you get to play as a bad hombre with a heart of gold. It's like every Jason Statham movie where he's got a daughter, or a little girl to protect, only this time, you're a japanese mobster kicking butt all over town. Why aren't you playing this right now?! Stop reading this and go get this game. Also the steelbook case makes for a nice collectible

Having played the original PS2 version, this version is definitely an improvement. The awkward camera has been fixed most importantly. Unlike the PS2 version you have 4 fighting styles to upgrade and switch between. As a result combat is deep and pretty satisfying. Mini games like baseball cages, bowling and sexy bug wrestling (yay Japan!) round out the things to do. Nice steel case and low price make this worth your while.

I played the original back in 2006, it didn't age well... This remake fixes and improves everything and gives the classic a new coat of paint. Using the engine and combat system from Yakuza 0, it's the best way to see how it all started. The developers are also masters at being able to make you feel just about every kind of emotion while playing these games; from serious and dramatic, to sad, to smiling and laughing.

I had the original ps2 version. This one ups the qualitt as shadow of the colossus did. At the bargain price, there is a ton of value. Its mostly a brawler but its open world story driven intro to japanese quirks culture and humor in this time capsule

This is a remake of the first installment in the famous Yakuza serie. The game was originally released on PS2 and was a smashing hit in Japan. This remake is excellent. The graphics are nice and the game is really entertaining. If you want to fully understand the licence and if you have Yakuza zero and you are planning to get the amazing Yakuza 6, I can only recommend Yakuza Kiwami.

Great game for under $20. Violent, but so is the subject matter it examines.

I haven't played Yakuza 0, but ended up picking this up because it was cheaper and easier to find. Compared to 0 there is less content, but there is so much good stuff in this game. Between the four styles you have to master, the large amount of side quests, and Majima just shows up outta nowhere, this is the most fun I've had in an open world game in years.
