The metal used on the door jam and mechanics is very cheap and easily bends. The lock keeps getting stuck on the jam plate and it is impossible to adjust it.

Very frustrated with this product. The smart home integration simply doesn’t work. Yale iPhone and Apple Watch apps work well but I’ve never been to unlock the door in Apple home and I cannot connect it to google home. The touch screen is not sensitive enough . Also very disappointing that there is no NFC option.

Good while it lasted. Gave up after 2 months and Yale customer service team is basic at best. Cannot get a concrete ETA on the replacement for a product that is still under warranty. Evidently it’s a known issue. Have their products around the house but will consider other alternatives going forward.

If you're looking for a nice looking and functional interior door lock, you could do worse than this. With somewhat easy installation and setup and dead simple functionality, this is just a nice door lock for something like a garage or closet you might want to keep the kids out of. Installation wasn't too terrible. We ran into a couple snags that stemmed from the lack of included instructions. The Yale app shows you a video during the setup process for the installation but I had to find a quick little installation instruction sheet online to help because I'm just better with printed instructions. Installation probably took an hour after needing to carve out a little bit of the door frame for the door stop and had to take everything apart when we didn't feed the wire through the right hole. Without those hiccups, I assume it would have taken closer to 20 minutes. The biggest problem with not having included instructions was not fully understanding what to do with the optional WiFi module that was included. I felt a little silly when I finally figured out what to do with it but it definitely had me thinking about it through the entire installation procedure. Setup was pretty easy. The app asks you during every step if you need some instructions to help you install that step or if it's already installed so you can skip over it. The app did a good job just walking you through the whole process, even if some of the steps felt a little strange (like the "registration" of the WiFi module?). Either way, once the lock is set up, there aren't a ton of settings (this is just a door lock) but it has all the ones you'll likely want. Auto-unlock can unlock the door for you when you're nearby. Auto-lock if you want the door to lock itself. You can assign different users with different keypad codes. The codes can be 4-8 digits so it's not just a simple 4 digit code. Also, with the WiFi module, you get a sensor for detecting when the door is open or closed so the app can tell you if the door is closed as well as locked. There's also a log that shows you every instance of the door locking or unlocking as well as whenever the door is opened or closed. All the information you could want. On top of all that, it automatically linked to HomeKit during the setup process so it's accessible in iOS Home. So if you're looking for a lock that you don't need to carry a key around for inside your house, this could be a good fit for you. It's easy enough to install. Easy to setup. Functions without any hassle. I like it.

    Security and Convenience redefined

The Yale Assure Lever in Black Suede is a Wi-Fi connected touchscreen smart keypad door lock with a handle, designed to replace the existing lever or knob on doors with a single hole (no deadbolt), making it straightforward to install on standard doors. Key features include remote locking, hands-free access, voice command functionality, and a backup key for added security. However, installation can be tricky if your door has both a door handle hole and a deadbolt hole. Physically installing the lock is comparable to other smart locks, but connecting it to the Yale Home/Access app can be challenging. The app may struggle to find the lock even after registering the Wi-Fi smart module using the 7+gear method. If you have August smart locks, using the August app for initial setup might be smoother since the Wi-Fi + Bluetooth module functions similarly to an August module. Despite these setup issues, the lock works well once connected. The Auto-unlock feature can be finicky, but HomeKit compatibility works flawlessly after scanning the code on the module kit. Since we had August smart locks, we used the August app to keep all our locks in one place. The app itself works seamlessly, providing quick and responsive controls. Integration with smart assistant and homekit is particularly impressive, allowing for hands-free operation with fast, delay-free responses. Managing access codes and monitoring door status through the app is straightforward, enhancing the overall user experience. Security features are robust and highly customizable. You can assign unique 4-8 digit codes to each family member, allowing you to monitor who enters and exits your home. Guest access can be scheduled, such as granting the housekeeper access every Wednesday from 9-11 am. Privacy Mode allows you to lock everyone out until you manually disable it, offering an additional layer of security. Adding and removing users is straightforward, with each person having their own contact information and code. While Yale products are on the expensive side, they offer excellent value for money considering their advanced features and reliability. Overall, the Yale Assure Lever is an excellent choice for enhancing the security and convenience of your home. The ease of use, robust security features, and reliable connectivity make it a worthwhile investment. Despite some setup challenges, the performance and functionality of this smart lock are impressive, providing peace of mind and added security for your home, especially when traveling.

Yale provides a high degree of security

The Yale Assure Smart Lock Lever provides a great way to secure an inside door with smart WiFi control and multiple keyless entry methods. Personally I do not even carry physical keys anymore to get in my house from the main entrance or the garage so I’m a big fan of these smart locks. This Yale lever lock should only be used for inside doors because there is no dead bolt and the keypad can block off any existing door holes where a deadbolt would’ve been. My garage door had a press combo lock where the dead bolt hole is, and I had to actually seal and repair the hole for this Yale lock. Easy enough with Great Stuff foam, some joint compound and paint. The lever is easily adjusted for left or right inswinging doors and installation is simple, just thread the numpad pub cable through your door hole, plug it into the battery pcb and secure with he provided hardware. Install the 4 AA batteries and the lock will be ready to pair. Pairing using the Yale Access app was straightforward on my iPhone which walks you through BT and then WiFi connection. You can then share unlock codes, remote lock and unlock and set lock and unlock routines. I took a star off because I’ve really become used to fingerprint unlocking, near-field unlocking and automatic lock/unlock schedules. This Yale lock definitely doesn’t support the first two and I was unable to figure out how to set the door to unlock during the day and then lock at night. I could set active hours on guest codes and also auto lock after a set amount of time but didn’t see how to Auto Unlock during daytime hours. I really enjoyed these features on my other locks especially since I often have my hands full when entering a door. Not a dealbreaker and maybe something Yale can add later via app or firmware update. So this is a nice lock that looks great but it isn’t quite perfect and lacks some features that competitors offer. Another concern I have is battery life. My other smart lock used to eat batteries every 2 months until I got a replacement board and now it only needs replacement every 6-8 months. I hope this Yale lock is similarly efficient on battery use so I will provide an update once I know how long the battery lasts.

    High-quality, feature-packed smart lock

The Yale - Assure Lock - Smart Lock Wi-Fi Lever with Touchscreen Keypad and Key Access is a high-quality smart lock that works great if you have a room that you want to better secure and the door to your room does not use a deadbolt. I have a home office that I use to work from home and I have a lot of sensitive information in there that needs to be kept safe. This Yale Assure Lock was the perfect solution for me since the door to my home office does not have a deadbolt. I needed some sort of locking handle to better secure the room and the Yale Assure Lock provides this and so much more. Installation was very easy and straightforward since I use a standard door. If you aren’t sure whether or not your door is a “standard” door, included in the packaging is a convenient “Check Your Door Guide” which will help you confirm if your door is compatible. If you have a brand new door that does not yet have the hole cut out for the handle, a “New Door Marking Template” is also included. After following the well-written step-by-step instructions for installing the device to your door, the next step was to activate the smart features which was easily done via the Yale Access app. One of the things I really like about the app and the smart features the Yale – Assure Lock offers is the key-free entry. Once properly setup, the lever will unlock automatically when you approach the door and will even relock once the door is closed. This is an awesome feature since I go in and out of my office pretty often and it would be annoying if I had to constantly use the keypad, key, or app to manually unlock the door every time I need to re-enter my office. Speaking of keypads and keys, it should be noted that the Yale – Assure Lock does come with a backlit keypad which opens up so many more features such as the ability to assign individual codes to others if you want to give additional people access and you can even set a schedule for when certain codes will allow access. All electronic features are powered by 4 AA batteries although you do also have the option of using a 9V battery to power the keypad if the AA batteries you are using die before you can replace them. This is a nice backup addition although it should be noted that you do have one other backup method for entry and that is by standard key that also comes with the unit. Overall, the Yale - Assure Lock - Smart Lock Wi-Fi Lever with Touchscreen Keypad and Key Access is a high-end, high-quality smart lock with tons of great features and I highly recommend it!

Installation: 1. Complexity: Installing the lock was more challenging than anticipated. The instructions were overly technical, lacking in clarity, and did not account for common issues like door misalignment. 2. Tool Requirement: The installation required specialized tools beyond the standard screwdriver, which was inconvenient and added unexpected costs. 3. Fit Issues: The lock did not fit well into the existing door cutout, necessitating modifications that were not straightforward. This made the installation process longer and more frustrating. Design and Build Quality: 1. Aesthetic Disappointment: While marketed as sleek and modern, the lock's actual appearance was underwhelming. The touchscreen keypad felt cheaply made and did not blend well with the door's aesthetics. 2. Build Fragility: Despite initial impressions of durability, the lock's construction felt flimsy upon closer inspection. Components like the lever and keypad showed signs of wear after only a few weeks of use. Functionality: 1. Keypad Malfunction: The touchscreen keypad frequently malfunctioned, especially in humid or cold weather conditions. This made entering access codes unreliable and frustrating. 2. Unreliable Connectivity: Despite claims of stable Wi-Fi connectivity, the lock often disconnected from the app, rendering remote access unreliable. This issue persisted even after troubleshooting with customer support. 3. Battery Drain: The lock's battery life was disappointingly short, requiring frequent replacements. Low battery alerts were inconsistent, leading to unexpected lockouts. User Experience: 1. Confusing Interface: Operating the lock via the app was cumbersome and unintuitive. Basic functions like adding or deleting user codes were buried in complex menus, making everyday use unnecessarily complicated. 2. Security Concerns: The lock's encryption standards were not clearly documented, raising concerns about data security. Limited updates from the manufacturer regarding security patches further exacerbated these worries. Issues and Considerations: 1. High Price, Low Value: Despite its high price point, the lock failed to deliver on promised features and quality. Comparable smart locks offered better reliability and functionality at a lower cost. 2. Customer Support: Dealing with customer support for troubleshooting was a frustrating experience. Response times were slow, and solutions offered were often generic and ineffective. Conclusion: In conclusion, the Yale Assure Lock - Smart Lock Wi-Fi Lever with Touchscreen Keypad fell short of expectations in multiple aspects. From challenging installation and disappointing build quality to unreliable functionality and poor customer support, the lock proved to be a regrettable investment. Potential buyers should consider alternative smart locks that offer better value and reliability for their home security needs.

The Yale - Assure Lock - Smart Lock Wi-Fi Lever with Touchscreen door lock offers alternative access without the needs for have a key in a world where everything is keyless and remote access. The touchpad allows you to enter specific codes for the primary users and secondary codes for one-time or less frequent access. This interior-only smart-lock offers remote access via connected Wi-Fi to review access data and to allow access when offsite or away. I found this item to be a nice addition to our garage door entry to our house. Our garage is enclosed and not accessible to the elements making this a perfect door lock for those we need to allow access to our home when we travel. The multiple code access is a great feature as we have several family members who may need access from time to time and it allows us to pull data on who has accessed the house if there is a question. PROS - Yale brand and quality - Great color options that matches your needs and unique style needs - Multi-code access - Wireless connectivity - Keyed or combo access CONS - Not designed for exterior use, not weatherproof

NICE YALE ASSURE LEVER SMART LOCK

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

First off, I was impressed with two (2) things: >>>The packaging for the YALE ASSURE SMART LOCK WITH WI-FI LEVER AND TOUCHSCREEN was impressive. Very organized package, everything labeled and secure in the fitted package, and the instructions were thorough and easy to read and understand. YALE also has online help available which came in handy. >>>The weight of the lock! Quite heavy which shows it’s well-made. No plastic in any of the lock mechanism that I could see. I’m hopeful that it will last for a long time. This was my first SMART LOCK and especially one from YALE. I was apprehensive at the outset if I’d be able to do the install myself (… I’m a 70 year old female but with a tech background …) because I’m not the person that does this type of install work, my husband does but he doesn’t do anything “tech”! Having a Lifetime Warranty on the lock’s mechanical aspects was a really nice feature. It makes the user comfortable that spending a lot for this smart lock is going to be money well-spent since the vendor backs the purchase up with a good warranty. Backlit touchscreen keypad is very responsive. No lag time while it “wakes up” making it ready for your use. While the lock has the capability, I did not setup additional key codes right now. I will do at a future date when I reinstall this lock late this year in our new home under construction. I really liked the YALE SMART LOCK’s ability to unlock itself utilizing my phone’s proximity to the lock’s location. Handy feature that saves time when you have an armful of items that you can’t put down to enter the key code in order to enter the home. One capability of the YALE SMART LOCK that should be a “blessing” for our wireless society, is also a cost-concern for me. I had planned to initially install this smart lock on my rental home, so I don’t have to worry about physical keys floating around with my many seasonal guests. However, I don’t always have the internet accessible (… I turn off service between guests if there is more than a few weeks between them…). Without having live internet access 24/7, the “smart” of the lock – either guest using or my remote access to it – is useless and then I have to resort to keys once again. With these issues, it made me reconsider installing the smart lock at my rental, and to put it in my home, Overall, I like the YALE SMART LOCK but I found that with the current configuration – meaning INSIDE USE ONLY – I found it very limiting and concerned about the effectiveness of having a smart lock on an interior door, especially since only adults are in our home. My biggest concern and home access is at an exterior door, namely the front door, which is where I would really like to use a smart lock. Very nice product, however!

    Awesome smart lockset!

Installation of this lock is very easy and this smart lock works great. It took less than 20 minutes to take the old one off, and install this one on the door to my garage which is great because now I can remotely access not only the garage door but the door inside the garage for when packages are delivered and keep the house locked. This particular set is for a single hole door which often is an interior or exterior door that does not have a deadbolt. Yale makes other locks like these which are for those types of doors. I would say where this is a touchscreen I'd recommend not putting it on your front or back doors that could get wet with rain/snow/sprinklers as just like with your smartphone, touchscreens tend to not work too great when wet or they act funny so I can imagine this lock would be no different. You might be fine if you have a glass storm door but you'd still want to avoid getting water on it as water tends to make touchscreens act funny or not respond correctly to touch/keypresses and it could even damage it. That would be my only concern with this lock is just making sure you install it on the right kind of door and with the right exposure! Yale doesn't say that is is water resistant so I'd imagine if you put it on a door that exposes it to rain/snow you will very likely have issues! So far, there've been absolutely no issues with this lockset and the smart features are great. I like knowing if the door has accidentally been left open (which happens more frequently than I'd like to admit) and if it's locked from anywhere remotely. Because it senses when the door is open and closed you also have the ability to set other options like Auto-Lock when it's closed and much more. What's also cool is that you don't have to be home to give access temporarily to someone and you don't have to worry about who you have gave codes to because you can simply delete the guest codes from the app once you are done with them. Adding family members to the app is easy as well and it makes it easy to give everyone in your home access to the lock. I'll be installing these on all of my doors because the design is so good. Above all that it integrates into your security system so you can manage it with the rest of your system with ease. In addition, you have more peace of mind knowing that if batteries are low, it'll notify you and even if you miss that there are terminals on the front of the lock that you can use a 9v battery with that will let you access the lock with a code even though the batteries are dead so literally you never need a key with this lock, just keep a spare 9v battery in your glove box and you are set and even if not, nearly every gas station and dollar store that's likely down the road has one. On top of that, you are given a backup key so you can always hide it or keep it on your keychain so you can get in that way as well. I'd definitely recommend this lock, for it's looks, simplicity to use (and install) and features. Seems rock solid so far and feels premium when you use it.

    Yale upped their game...

This is not my first Yale lock product.  I am a big fan and have a keypad deadbolt on my garage and it is awesome.  So when looking for a keypad lever option I decided to look at the Yale options first this time.  The application I wanted it for was in my wife's home office, as we have young kids and don't want them getting into the room to mess things up. So no heavy lifting here what so ever.  It is a really easy swap to the existing hardware you have in place.  The knob I replaced was a standard round knob with a key lock in the knob on the outside and a twist lock on the inside.  I have it in the matte black color, which looks amazing against a bright white door.  One thing to note.  We painted this door, and what I noticed during installation was that they have a little gasket designed to be between the door and lock. I like the idea that it may protect the finish, and it is a nice little detail if I decide to ever remove the lock.   Having other locks made by Yale, I want to say they really stepped up their game with this one.  The proximity feature is really cool.  With my other lock, I can use the keypad, use the key or use Alexa/Google/Siri to unlock it.  With this version the lock senses you and unlocks as you go to use it. It does that by sensing your iPhone (that is what we have) and it unlocks.  This is great from the "ease of use" standpoint, but it also means anyone that can get into your phone can manipulate their way through the lock possibly.  So I would think about that when you think about placement.  Or disable the feature if it is not for you?  The point here though, is that you now have a keyless entry and a variety of ways to go about it.  And Yale has upped the game with this device. The keypad works well.  It is bright in low light and it has a backup battery (9v) you install in case the batteries die.  Additionally, it comes with two keys if you want to use them.  Since it is an internal home lock, I don't mind having a different key than the house uses. Otherwise I cannot speak to the options you have for re-keying the device.   Bottom line here, is that this is a great product and I would recommend it to anyone that wants a keypad handle lock for whatever application they are using it for.  Yale makes a great product, and I am very happy with it.  Also know that they have different colors that match all the various hardware colors people use in a house for door knobs. So there is likely one that will match what you have in your home.  Take a look at this option if you are in the market for an upgrade, I am very happy with it.

A Great Smart Lock Once Installed

Once installed, the Yale Assure lock is responsive and easy to use. The installation, however, took a bit of time. I feel the instructions could have been a bit more clear, but I ultimately figured it out. My main gripe is, despite my front door meeting all the criteria outlined during the set-up, the lock actually didn't fit on my front door. This is because my front door has 2 holes in it -- one for the handle and one for the deadbolt. Unfortunately, these holes were too close together such that, when installed, the smart lock partially overlaps one of the holes. After some research, it appears Yale also makes locks designed for doors with separate handles and deadbolt, so I can't knock the lock for that. Just make sure your door meets the specifications to the best of your ability before buying. I was able to install the lock on my back door, which ultimately works better for my purposes anyway. However, I would have preferred they included more than one physical key. This lock is ideal for perhaps a garage door or interior doors to which multiple people may have access. I could see this as a great option for renting out space or even a back shed. The Wi-Fi integration is a cool feature as well. I am definitely satisfied with this product.

The Yale Assure Lock smart lock is a amazing door lock. The install went smoothly and had not issues. The interaction is very simple. The instructions included are very simple to follow for installation. You are able to add different access code and are able to delete them upon command. The device itself feels like a solid build and very simple to use. You are able to program for auto locking after a certain amount of time and also a one key lock. It uses 4 AA batteries, and it has a low battery indicator. You may ask yourself what happens if you do not swap the batteries out well it can be as simple as use the 1 key included or better off if you are in a true bind, you can use a 9-volt battery by touching the terminals in the front of the lock right underneath the numbers. Overall a very nicely built door lock. Keep in mind it is for interior doors or doors not exposed to the elements. It will bring you office security to the next level with this lock. The only dislike is the fact it only included one key, or what would have been nice is if you would be able to program your current house key to the new lock. However, i am very satified with teh security this lock provides my homer office.

I was so excited when I learned about this interior smart lock!! I have had yale products on my front exterior door for about four years now and have been waiting for an interior designed model!! Knowing that the exterior products have held up and performed flawlessly, I didn't hesitate to add this one to my home. I have an electronics closet that the kids somehow always find a way to mess up settings in and this has completely solved my problem. It is designed to replace most standard setups and this was the case for me. Basically, it was plug and play. I just unscrewed the old hardware, and this yale smart interior hardware fit perfectly without absolutely zero issues. No only does it function as advertised, it upgrades the look and coolness factor of a regular interior door ten fold. As soon as I can think of a reason to need another one, I won't hesitate to stick with yale and continue upgrading with their products. Their install and setup instructions and process has become more user friendly over the past few generations of their smart locks, so even if you aren't tech savy, it's easy to diy
