This is a great receiver! It was complicated to eq for best sound, but doable. If you use the factory settings the sound won't be that great, but for someone who knows a little bit the sound quality can be set fantastically!

Love the sound and quality, just disappointed in only 1 output on system.

Overall the Yamaha is a great product. The only issues I have encountered are with the ARC settings. ARC seems to be very finicky, and just stops working at random times. The only way to reset the ARC is to disconnect and power down all devices connected to the receiver, and the receiver itself. Overall, I am satisfied with this product and would recommend it to others.

After doing a home Theater job for a customer of mine who used a Yamaha Aventage Reciever I had to eat my own. This reciever is just as good and has most of the same features as the higher model. This reciever was about half the price and I'm loving the sound it puts out.

item on clearance. New model had same features. Replaced a pre hmdi Yamaha that was still outputting good sound but with hmdi sound is cleaner. Having problems with coordinating remote with Samsung tv but hope to clear that up.

After upgrading to a 4K TV, I needed a receiver that would pass the 4K. This one fits the bill. While there are less expensive receivers out there that will pass 4K, I wanted something with a little more functionality and punch. I also have speakers on my patio. I couldn't quite figure out how to make them work properly at first, then discovered "Party" mode. My previous Yamaha just had "Zone 2" and the only audio that would pass through was analog. With this receiver, in Party mode, it'll pass whatever is on TV, or the receiver such as Pandora. I added front presence speakers which really immerses you in sound. I have noticed my dogs are a lot more aware of sounds from the TV now and constantly think they're hearing things outside. I would absolutely buy this receiver again.

When I bought the receiver, I had the upcoming football season, as well as entertaining friends, in mind. As long as the weather permits, I usually grill out every weekend during football season. The system allows me to watch/listen to the game in real quality. I'm very happy with my purchase.

I would recommend this unit to any old school sterio users and especially those who have kept up with the possibilities of combining the technology with the internet

This Yamaha home theater is so easy to setup. Make sure that you use high quality cables to ensure optimal performance. I've paired this a quad of B&W but no subs yet. Now I get that theater effect at home.

Switching from a non-HDMI receiver, couldn't believer how many wires I was able to get rid of! I do wish this came with an actual owner's manual. I ended up printing off the one that came with it (on CD) just so I could have something to reference without having to run to my computer.

This receiver replaced a functioning 5 yr old 673. I updated this receiver after adding the 679 upstairs to an existing surround sound. The 681 is an impressive addition. You won't be disappointed.

This is my 4th yamaha receiver I still have the old ones and they still sounds great, I just wanted to upgrade to match my HD TV, HD TV HD sound makes sense . Setup was easy once you update

My Onkyo receiver died. I did lots of research and for the money this receiver was first rate!! Easy to set up, lots of different sound modes and great with 4 K. I highly recommend it.

This receiver will do what most high end receivers will do. I have a cable box, laptop, playstation 3 ,and a 4k dvd player all running through this with hdmi cables. perfect !!!!!

Great sound and excellent 4K pass thru... Nice features, internet connection (wired and WiFi connections available, Zone 2 with A B switching. Great value!

I was looking for an upgraded surround sound for the best value that I could play movies, music video and music on ... settled on the Yamaha receiver

Great upgrade I came from an old Yamaha receiver that I bought in the early 2000. I upgraded for the Bluetooth capabilities and 4K Passthrough.

it does so much, Bluetooth , work the program off my phone, can get Sirius and others from it, and the 2 cannels handles all my needs awesome

Great receiver, would liked to have had a hard copy of the manual since it's hard to set up properly with one. Make sure to download the app for easy use for the iPad of iPhone. Bluetooth works well too.

I had been looking for over a week to find an AV Receiver and Surround Speakers to replace my old system (also from Best Buy when they opened the first store in my area). I had checked out all the other on-line retailers, but decided that, as in the past, Best Buy is the BEST BUY! Recent other purchases this past year include (2) Samsung Flat Screen TVs, and renewal of my Geek Squad protection for my computer. No need to go anywhere else...Quality, best price, and knowledgeable and friendly staff are always as close as Best Buy!
