Purchased for my 20 year old son and he could not get it to connect in his dorm wifi. Calle Yamaha and they too struggled!? Very odd. He finally got it going with more Yamaha support and he loves it!! Seems like Best Buy or Yamaha should know what to do in a dorm by now. But he does love the product

The sound, particularly voices, is much clearer than from the TV speakers. It comes with a fiber optic cable to connect with the TV but you have to buy separately a HDMI cable to get the maximum benefit. Besides the optic cable doesn't lock in and falls out if you move the TV or the sound bar.

Great sounding, easy set up but my unit was missing an ac cable which I had to order from Amazon. Best Buy’s only option was to repack and return instead of givin ma an inexpensive ac cable (generic).

Good for small room with hard floors on the top floor. Don't think it would provide enough base otherwise. But just enough base and volume to not get you kicked out. Lot's of great features with remote, love the clear voice feature the most.

Usually a full surround system owner, after switching the tv set up a sound bar was the best option. Sounds great, good bass, so far so good. Only reason not 5 stars is amount of time owned.

This has been a great additional to my Samsung 75'' tv. I wanted something to provide quality sound, that wouldn't break the bank. This fit right into my budget and has the right amount of tech to make that happen. I'm impressed with the ease to setup and the quality it provides.

This works great, I had a few minor issues with the Alexa we already had in the living room but once I moved the alexa there don't seem to be many confusing issues with the soundbar answering when I wanted the Echo to answer.
Sound quality is good for the price, and the volume is plenty sufficient for a 20x20 living room.

This Soundbar sounds good compared to tv speakers. When playing my PlayStation I have to turn it up quite a bit to get good sound, but using it while watching tv it performs very well.

Very good soundbar for the price. Chose this over the Sonos Beam, Yamaha has a wireless subwoofer which really impacts the sound quality. Built in Alexa is a great feature.
Only negative is Alexa activates to the sound of Alexa car commercials on TV, which is funny and annoying at the same time.

Yamaha has always had a great sound. This soundbar and subwoofer make our TV room shake, rattle and roll with high-quality sound and sound effects. Music streamed through the speakers sounds live and rivals my more expensive stereo system

So we’ve had this for almost 6 months now. We are not Alexa people so we haven’t used that feature. Playing movies with it though and connecting our phones to play music has been great. The different sound settings make what I hear more clear.

I really like this Soundbar and I'll say right away it really gives a great Theatre experience. I have read a lot of reviews about many soundbars. I think your choice may be influenced by your particular heavy sound tolerance or expectations. I am older now.
(73) I.ve seen all kinds of heavy rock groups and I think your sound preferences change over time. I like smooth jazz now but still listen to all the old stuff and like it loud sometimes. Adult beverages may play into that... Younger folks may not think this system is enough. I had a full blown surround system and blew the doors off. (U 571) I am very happy with this system and it works well with my new Big Screen. The pseudo surround even works. 4K Gladiator plays well and the sound is there for an average size room. Remote works well, plenty of choices and clear voice for news etc. Can't compete with a full blown modern surround system but it is very good at this price.

I have been shopping for soundbars to replace my aging Samsung bar and I wanted it in place before the superbowl. Started looking at all these high end systems, all well over $1000 when said and done. Then I read a review about this Yamaha 209 and kept hearing nothing but good things about it. The price was well under $400 so I was leery at first but decided to give it a try. Wow! Could not be happier. The sound is fantastic and fills my room perfectly. The bass is substantial and the highs come through crystal clear. It's not the Bose 700 I was originally going to shell out $1400 for (best sound I've heard bar none!), but for under $400 it is by far the better bang for the buck. If you have a small to medium size room to fill with sound this is your best bet. Yamaha nailed it again. Low profile, sleek and very clean looking. Easy install. Wish I had spent the extra money on the next model up you can add surround speakers to but I am very pleased. My neighbor not so much!

Has generally good sound especially to the sides. One annoying quirk is that periodically sound will mute for about 3 seconds then go back to normal.

Excellent sound. Deep bass. Like be all the options on the remote. Makes gaming, movies, and tv shows much more enjoyable. I dare say it sounds better than my more expensive Bose system.

Great incremental upgrade over the 207. Sounds and looks good with my 55" Sony in the bedroom. This is way more sound and bass than what we need in a bedroom but I have no regrets!
