Customers frequently mention the excellent sound quality and ease of use of the 200W 2.0-Ch. Stereo Receiver. Many also appreciate its powerful output and reasonable price. However, some customers point out the lack of a phono preamp and less-than-ideal speaker wire connection terminals as drawbacks. The receiver's design and setup process also receive positive feedback.

A good value

Ok, this product needs to be rated while considering it is $150. This is bare bones, no frills and actually has a cheap remote, cheap speaker post (I could barely fit in a 16 gauge wire- no banana plugs allowed) and it's very light weight. So why five stars? Again, it's $150.
I just needed something to power my speakers/cd in a very small room. You can get an 80watt Yamaha integrated amp (no tuner) for twice the price, doesn't make sense right? Well, it will be clear when you open the box and notice how many corners they cut.
If you just want bare bones minimal cost and the Yamaha name, you can't go wrong. I have no idea how they make money on this system.

Nice clear quality sound especially with music. My CD's sound clear and natural. My setup consists of 2 Technics SB-A35 floor speakers and 2 JPW bookshelf speakers, 1 Sony SA-W303 sub and 1 Pioneer sw 8mk2 sub. Sounds great especially when I utilize all four speakers.

No Universal Remote Compatibility

Works great but the remote it comes with isn't the best. Buttons are all the same small size and are not laid out in an intuitive way. Haven't found a universal remote that will control this unit, have tried quite a few.

Note: The specs online say that this receiver has HDMI Inputs and HDMI Outputs. IT DOES NOT.
DO NOT BUY IF YOU ARE HOOKING IT UP TO A NEW HDTV.

Bought it to use at pool house. never works without difficult start up. now it has a hard failure not even 4 months old. This is not typical of a Yamaha product.
