I had an RX-V840 that was our Dolby movie receiver for more than a decade when it finally gave up the ghost. The new unit is every bit as good and even better. It was easy to set up and included a microphone to calibrate my existing speakers. The sound is great and way more volume than we can use. Can't beat the value for the expense.

It's a relatively inexpensive home theatre receiver. Hooks up easily sounds decent. This is not even close to hi fi grade so don't buy it if that's your expectation. It's a solid value for $300. For a little more money, denon and marantz make a better sounding product for music lovers. However, if all you are going to do is use it mostly for movies, this is a solid choice.

I have had several different Receivers and this one by far is the best one that I have purchased! Great Sound, Easy Setup. Far better than Denon or Sony. I wish I would have purchased this one sooner!

I waffled back and forth on whether to buy this or not. I had an older amp that didnt have hdmi, but still did a fine job. After a fair amount of deliberation and reading reviews I decided to get a new amp. The girl at Best Buy showed me this amp on sale and bang for the buck, seemed the best way to go. I am big on clarity in my music and movies so thats why I wanted the upgrade. After our first movie my wife remarked she could tell the difference and she doesn't usually notice things like that. If tou are looking to upgrade from an older amp I highly recommend this Yamaha unit if you dont havea lot of money to spend. Take the time to fine tune your listening preferences and you should be happy.

Easy setup and excellent quality. Built in Bluetooth is a nice feature.

While this unit does not compete with full surround speaker set ups it provides a dramatic upgrade to standard TV speakers. Set up with a Samsung 4K UHD TV was very easy. Occasionally the sync will be off (probably because of the additional processing thru my Direct TV signal) but it's quickly remedied when I turn the set off and on again.

Very nice, well constructed. It produces very good sound and has a lot of options for the money. The only reason I gave it four stars instead of five is I wish it had one more hdmi port and had Apple AirPlay. The latter is not necessarily an issue if you have an Apple TV box, but it does have Bluetooth built in which is a nice option and works well. I would highly recommend this receiver to anyone in the market for a new one.

Over all very pleased with the unit. Very clean sounding, easy to function, and lots of power.

Very happy with the performance thus far. It was an open box item, and so was missing the manual. I'm using the surround speakers that came with the Onkyo receiver that I was using, and they match quite well. The only exception was the sub woofer. The onkyo receiver had a passive sub and the output of the Yamaha is a pre amp out, and so I had to buy a powered sub. Overall, it's a good buy.

I have listened and played with many receivers. I am replacing one that Boss had sold me and can't afford any more of their products. I do have their speakers. I bought this system and can tell you that it pumps out an excellent sound. I listen to all kinds of genre and it proves itself time and time again. The clarity is just so good. The way it produces surround sound to just hands down awesome. I bought a Yamaha Sub Woofer just to complete things and I cannot describe what difference it makes other than to say if you don't have one, you are missing out. The dB levels can go beyond what your ears can handle (with good speakers) and as long as your speakers handle it won't distort. Love it is the bottom line.

I recently purchased this Yamaha to replace an old Harmon Kardon that I bought from Best Buy several years ago. I love it. This Yamaha has tons of power, nice features and a great sound. It also handles my new powered subwoofer with no problem whatsoever. The only thing missing is some digital/optical inputs.

I found the Yamaha RX-V379B easy to set up and easy to run the speaker calibration program. The sound is very good for home theater. I haven't used the radio functions. This receiver is also a bit smaller than some competitors which made it easier to fit inside my entertainment center.

This is a really nice receiver for a simple man cave setup. This receiver is easy to use and the setup was fast and simple. It works great with the old JBL subwoofer I have unlike another receiver I had initially. The sound quality is good for the side room I have the receiver in.

Has great features packed into medium priced receiver and very easy to setup. Plenty of power to fill a room and the Bluetooth option makes it easy to listen to all my playlists.

BAsically needed a Receiver for outside entertainment Have Four outdoor speakers and the sound is awesome. Having Bluetooth was the icing on the cake! easily sets up to phone, iPad and computer for streaming music!!

I bought this to drive a pair of B&W CWM663 in wall speakers for a conference room at work. It drives them really well, was simple to setup, and has a great feature set for the price point. Met my expectations.

I purchased this unit because my two year old poured juice in my $800 Yamaha. I would recommend this receiver it sounds great and has Bluetooth capability. Just no wifi or network access.

We needed product to complete surround sound hookup by Geek Squad. This was best product for the price in store. Works great and easy to control now that Geeks hooked up. We are pretty skilled but could have never gotten it right ourselves.

This was purchased to replace one that had finally worn out and did not support external speakers with Hdmi. This integrated all my externals, was easy to set up, and did so at a reasonable price.

It was time to upgrade a 6 year old Onkyo that cost twice the price to take advantage of the features offered by the current generation of AV receivers. I still run a 5.1 surround and essentially needed something that could enhance a new 4K UHD TV and my PS4 gaming. This receiver does a fantastic job with both primary uses. Easy set up and much clearer sound quality than I had with the Onkyo. Audiophiles will want to investigate other options, but for television and gaming this can't be beaten by more expensive alternatives.
