This receiver is really great, although we can't give it 5-stars. The first one we received was bad, so it had to be replaced.

This unit is an upgrade/replacement for my recently dead Pioneer Elite receiver. The receiver is relatively easy to setup. While shopping for a new receiver, I asked every sales rep if it supported an iPod. Unfortunately, I wasn't specific enough, because it only supports them through AirPlay. You cannot control you iPod with the remote control. You are forced to use a 3.5 mm to RCA adapter to connect an iPod directly. The remote control buttons are tiny and require you to remember what button to push to play a DVD, TV, etc. This isn't really an issue for me, but my wife hates it. The sound quality and channel separation is excellent. The video pass through is clear, and somehow better than my old Pioneer.

Again, I am only giving 4 stars initially and will modify as I gain experience with this unit. Set up was a breeze and once all connected was useable right away. I will run the automated equalization today and report on it, No issues with 4K pass through from my Panasonic 900 4K blu ray, as would be expected. Interesting note, for as large as this AVR is, the deep black finish makes it blend into the background so you are not aware of the mass.

One great leap backward for Yamaha

This would have been my third Yamaha receiver. Having such great luck for over 20 years with the first two I immediately bought my third. As Yamaha told me there is just a slight learning curve. Anything that takes this long to hook up and it's complicated to use is not worth having. If you follow Yamaha's instructions just to watch your TV with your TV speakers you now have to use two controls. When my old Yamaha to turn the speakers on in a separate room you push a button on the front of the unit marked B. Now you have to going to set up make sure you have the CD selector breast and hope you have a hoot your speakers up to the right connection in back. Yes movies did sound much better on my new Yamaha then my old 2300. But music was nowhere near as clear. Upon asking Yamaha technicians about this I was informed they had to not worry about music so they could make more room for Bluetooth and things of that such. The control has small buttons is not backlit. You have to know what is connected to the numbers one through seven. I have returned it in a male looking at a Marantz but I have to wait two weeks to get my 150 Best Buy dollars back.

    Will not pass-thru Dolby Vision

Hello, Yesterday I received information from Yamaha support about the 1060 that I feel needs to be shared with people looking at this year's AVENTAGE line. According to Yamaha, this receiver will not pass thru the Dolby Vision HDR information to the TV, so if you plan on using devices such as Chromecast Ultra, Roku or 4k UHD bluray, you will be out of luck. I feel burned by this purchase. This receiver is obsolete already. Here is the statement from Yamaha: "Steve, The RX-A1060 does not support Dolby Vision and cannot be upgrade to do so, it does not have the hardware. Best Regards, The Yamaha Customer Support Team"
