Having the tw e3a model, these are a small upgrade. They sound pretty good. The noise cancelling works well, but not the best. Ambient sound is alright again I've had better. The earbuds fit well and doesn't stick out that much so that's a plus. You get a pouch with this model to carry everything included in the box. The app is the same one nothing special about it. The tw e7a are almost identical to the tw e3a. Except for the silver logo, which is nice makes it look like a premium product. The controls are the same where you need both earbuds to properly do everything needed without touching the phone. I've had some connection issues , one earbud gets disconnected or both aren't connecting . Hopefully a software update will fix this. I think at this price range there are better options out there.

Good sound, less good design

As far as the listening experience goes, these are high-quality earbuds. Really good midrange and highs, and about as good as you're get from earbuds on the low end. Good sound isolation, lightweight, and comfortable. However, I had intermittent bluetooth connection issues with the right earbud. Not always a problem, but when it was, it would cut out completely and need to reconnect. The way the earbuds fit into the charging case is also finicky. Rather than snapping in magnetically like most other earbuds out there, these get wedged into place. You need to make sure there's a good connection to the charging points, and that's not always easy to achieve. For the price, I expect details like that to be designed much better.

Good sound but painful fit

Ear buds like these can be broken down into several parts. First and foremost is the sound, something that a lot of the ear buds out there fail at. Second, is the fit, and by fit I mean comfort. And the third, is everything that's left over. The features, the noise cancelling aspects, the charging base, etc..
The Yamaha's for me, were a little all over the board. To start with, the size is nice. Not too big where you always feel like they're going to catch on something or fall out, and not too small where you have a hard time putting them in, and taking them out. They connected to my S10 with no trouble at all. They hold a charge well enough. The build is solid. These are all good points.
The sound is really good with nice rich bass and pleasing highs that don't irritate. They can handle high volume without distorting and offer a good mix at lower levels. The problem is, you really need to work out which tips and fins to use to not only make them sound good but to do it comfortably. Unfortunately, this is what I did not like about them. When you put them in, you really have to look hard for the L & R designations. It certainly doesn't pop out at you and when you consider how important that is to proper fit, I would think Yamaha would have made this a higher priority. They do include three sizes of fins and five sizes of tips, which is a good thing. If you plan to open the box and see a diagram or tutorial of how they should fit, you won't find it. You need to download the app for that information. That's frustrating. I don't feel I should have to download yet another specialized app just to see hot to wear the ear buds. The only other thing the app buys you is the ability to update the firmware.
I did spend quite a bit of time trying out all the tip and fin combos (literally hours). I finally got the right combination for good sound and I did really like the sound quality. You need to get the right fit, to experience good bass response. What I didn't like was that to get that bass response I had to really crank the buds into my ears. To the point that after about 15 minutes they were just too painful to deal with. These are some of the more expensive buds I've used and I think for this kind of money, they should be comfortable AND offer great sound.
As far as the other features. I experimented with the noise cancelling feature, and I have to say, I could not hear any difference. To be fair, I've never been a fan of the noise cancelling feature on any ear buds because it always colors the sound in a way I find annoying enough not to use it. The charging base is large. Plain and simple. You will not be sliding it into your pocket. These days, there is absolutely no reason to have a charging base that's this big. I really wanted to like them. Once I got a reasonable fit, the sound was really good. Unfortunately, at that point they were just plain uncomfortable.

When it comes to choosing the right wireless earbuds, everyone looks for the sound quality, comfort and overall design. Unfortunately for me, the Yamaha TW-E7A true wireless earbuds just falls short in all categories.
For the design, the smooth, round/spherical shape makes it a little hard to get the best grip (and I don't have big fingers)... First, it's a little difficult to take out of the case. Then, it is somewhat difficult to get them adjusted to the best fit in the ears. They do come with 5 sizes of ear tips and 3 sleeves (two with different sizes of "wings" and one without) to let customize the fit. For the sleeves with wings, the wings themselves are a little thin and fairly hard. If you don't get the earbuds in the exact right position, the wing will press uncomfortably into your ear. I can't say they are the most comfortable earbuds (even with the right fit), but not horrible. I do know they are there and can't seem to wear them for long periods of time.
Once I finally got the best fit, the sound quality was decent, but not quite as good as my other earbuds. The bass wasn't as rich. Also, I do find myself needing to push them back in often as if they slightly move out of the ear canal, the sound diminishes rapidly.
The charging case is rather large. Not sure if it needs to be that be to allow for the wireless charging or what. And I seem to have to put in some extra effort to get the earbuds seated correctly to get the charging contacts to meet up. Just be sure the charging light comes on before closing the lid. There is also a drawstring pouch to carry them in if you won't be needing the charging case.
The Yamaha Headphones app that you can install doesn't have much functionality to them. It does display the battery levels of the buds and case, but then only has the ability to turn on and off the Listening Care, Noise Cancelling, and set the Auto Power-off Timer. You would think it would have an equalizer as well, but no. There is a menu item to update the firmware, but the current version has an error when attempting to update.
For the brand and the price point, I was hoping these could become my everyday earbuds (and I wear earbuds quite a bit), but they just don’t come close to my other earbuds.

These earbuds sound great. The clarity is fantastic. They are very comfortable and stay in place well. The noise cancelling function works very well and can be controlled by the mobile app. Charger is small, which is good, and I get about 2 hours of battery life per charge. It's nice that the app tells you how much battery life is left. I would highly recommend.

Higher price, but better features

This is my first set of earbuds from Yamaha. I must say, these are a real improvement from the many generic buds I have tried. I really appreciate the auto-connect feature. In other words, the moment either earbud is removed from the charger, they link with the last device they were used with. Another nice feature is the ability to use one earbud at a time without it incessantly trying to connect to the other earbud while it’s charging (my old ones did this, so it was both or nothing!). The fit is snug, but comfortable. They are lightweight and look good in my ears. The sound is crystal clear and full. A small USB charging cable is included. In some ways, I prefer a longer cable to have more versatility when traveling. But, when I am at home, they plug in nicely to my alarm clock with USB ports. Overall, this is a great product that I can definitely recommend.

A lot of these earbuds and headset come down to head and ear shape of the person using it. I have tried and used a hand full of over the ear headphones and I love them. They fit well, sounds amazing and I could wear them for a long time.
For earbuds its hard. They have to “fit” in your ear comfortable/secure and deliver great sounds quality. Wearing them a long time will make your ear sore.
The Yamaha TW-E7A true wireless earbuds is overall a good earbud but didn’t fit well for me. The sound quality is amazing and the noise cancelling works well. (reduces the sounds of my crying baby =) ). I tried adjusting with the different ear pieces still couldn’t find the right one. It felt loose and unbalanced in my ear. Like it was going to fall out. I am not confident in fit to do my workout in fear of these falling out. (running, jumping, high knees, burpees, etc).
I would recommend these for someone who is not moving around a lot, maybe in the office or like me at home holding a crying baby. Has great sound and noise cancelling but fit is important.

Disappointed

My headline says it in a nutshell, “Disappointed.”
First let’s start with the positives. Following the instructions, I was able to pair the headphones quickly with my smartphone. I also downloaded the free Yamaha Headphone app and it connected easily to my earbuds.
Now the negatives. Since the app can control the various modes such as noise cancelling, etc. I went downstairs to my rather loud furnace to see how effective the different modes were. As I changed the modes in the app, the voice in the buds responded with either “Noise Cancel” “Ambient Sound” or “Off.” I was surprised to notice ABSOLUTELY NO CHANGE with noise cancelling whatever. Outside of her voice I’d never know what mode I was using.
I then tried listening to music. There was no bass bottom end at all. I tried turning the “Listening Care” feature on and off in the app. No change. At this point I stopped and thought, “OK, this is a new model, perhaps there’s an update on the app. I found the “check firmware update” on the app and clicked it. In a few seconds I received a message which said, “Could not check for update.” I tried for days and received the same message.
OK, then a call to Yamaha support is in order. Their website has a “chat” feature so I entered all my information and clicked “submit.” NOTHING. I tried with 3 different computers and different browsers. NOTHING.
OK, then I’ll talk to a support specialist on the phone. The recording told me:
“We are experiencing high call volume, for faster service to our valued customers, chat with us on our web page". Sure, If only I could. I then heard “There are 28 callers ahead of you in the queue.” The call progress indicated it would be an hour before I was able to speak with anyone so I hung up.
You might have better luck. I’d just make sure you’re able to return these earbuds to Best Buy in case you have the same experience.

These earbuds have great sound and are completely wireless! Included are several eartips to get the perfect, comfortable fit. My favorite part is the wireless charging case that is included making it easy to store and charge at the same time. Thumbs up!

Disappointed In The Quality

I really wanted to love these Yamaha earbuds because I have another lower priced Yamaha pair without ANC and they work fine, however that is not the case with these, especially for the price tag. First off it was very confusing to try to pair them up with my iPhone. You are supposed to take the left one out and pair it first but that didn't work at all. Kept messing with them for over 2 hours...nothing. So like another reviewer stated I called Yamaha and got a message saying there were 32 callers ahead of me. I did wait on the phone for about 45 minutes but was only down to caller 26 so I hung up. Then I got on the chat line with a tech (after a 55 minute wait) and unfortunately everything he told me to do didn't help the situation either. He was going to have someone call me back but I never heard anything. The support certainly isn't there in my opinion. Okay back to the earbuds. I have them on right this minute and now I find that although only the right earbud states its connected to my phone Bluetooth I can hear music out of both. It doesn't sound bad with some bass. A bit too tinny sounding overall though for my liking and there's no way you can use their app to adjust it. On the app I cannot get the software update to work. I do have LISTENING CARE turned on and the NOISE CANCELLING OFF right now. I just turned the ANC on and honestly I can't tell that much difference in the surrounding noise levels. The Ambient Noise feature made no difference in sound either. Again as far as music is concerned they need some richness and it's just not there, like those inexpensive earbuds are. If Yamaha would fix their app to include an equalizer it would be so helpful.
Now on to the main reason I totally am not happy with these earbuds. I use them mostly for phone calls. Well that is sorely lacking in clarity to the person on the other end. They all sound fine to ME, but folks cannot stand listening because I sound like I am all muffled with static and wind noise, even though I am in the house with no wind at all. One caller stated I sound like I was in a barrel. Have tried them with different phones, nothing helps this poor situation on phone call reception. Sad because I really had high hopes for these earbuds but they are not living up to the quality I would expect from Yamaha. Perhaps if they do a software update that actually works and redesign their phone app it might help tremendously. I could just have a defective pair, although it seems others have the same bad phone call quality issues as I do. I cannot recommend their purchase until these problems are fixed.
