Tried better quality Bluetooth headphones and same issue. Gets the job done but sound quality suffers in my opinion.

Nintendo switch bluetooth

So I looked around and found this adapter for the switch. If you want bluetooth audio, this is worth every penny.

There IS a noticeable sound lag! Read my review.

There IS a noticeable lag with all Bluetooth buds that I tested. It's about a half-second delay. Trust me, don't waste your money if you're a serious gamer. It might be fine for kids though. I did some reading and apparently all Bluetooth adapters on Switch have lag. It simply wasn't designed for it. We should see Bluetooth support with the next version of Switch.
