Adult here. (No shame whatsoever btw.) Been looking forward to a similar game as Yoshi’s Woolly World back in the WiiU days and here it is!
It’s very similar cuteness and game play wise. The graphics are just adorbs! (Granted I still think knitted Yoshis are still cuter. =P) The theme of the game is as its namesake: Crafted. Graphics include washi tape, thumbtacks, cardboard and various craft supplies as deco.
The controls are simple enough and don’t require crazy gamer experience. The levels have a high replay value. There are challenges that essentially make you replay levels multiple times to achieve different goals.
There is a 2P mode, but it’s not as easy as you’d think it to be. It’s very easy to gobble each other up on accident... (=.=) This causes the victim to lose their egg arsenal too! This can get annoying especially since those eggs are necessary to hit targets in the distance to get red coins, etc. As with classic Yoshi games, you have to hunt for those red coins and flowers as they can be hidden. This really encourages the player to explore entire map and/or replay the level.
The game is compatible with Switch console controllers, but Joy Con controllers work too. I of course scored my Yoshi controllers last year and played with those.
All in all, I highly recommend this game, especially for Nintendo/Yoshi fans. The levels can get challenging and with its various challenges (collecting items and finding Poochi pups), the replay value is high in my opinion. Since it’s on the switch, this makes Yoshi even more portable. Enjoy guys and gals!

Yoshi is a cute fun game, that has a lot going for it. Each stage has Flowers, Coins, Red Coins and Pooches that need to be collected from it. This is all fine and dandy, and adds a ton of replay value to the game. Then there is also the "Scavenger Hunt" for each section of the world. This scavenger hunt has you looking for specific items in a level. Once you find them you get a flower. This sounds like fun, except: if you've already found that item before the scavenger hunt is initiated, you have to find it again and 2) You can only initiate a scavenger hunt item one at a time. So if there are 10 scavenger hunt items, you may need to replay a board 10 times to find all the items. The game is nice and lets you exit a board as soon as you found an item, but honestly - I just want to know what all the items are up front, so I can find them all in one go.
Overall, the game is definitely worth playing, but if your completion be prepared to play a board over and over again to 100% this beast.
Also, the game is super cute, and friendly for newcomers to the series.

If you've ever played a Yoshi game before, then this is more of the same but on the excellent Nintendo Switch platform. Worlds are beautifully created, animation and sounds are sometimes literally eye-candy, and gameplay mechanics are nicely updated with a modern touch. It is cute beyond belief, and the second-player system keeps each world/level fun. Not a difficult game, so kids of most ages will definitely enjoy running and jumping (and floating) around while still being able to achieve level goals. Experienced gamers may find it simple, but there are four additional levels after the game is completed where their skills will be lightly tested. I love Yoshi, and I love this game. Thank you NIntendo for continuing to give this little green dinosaur such a delightful game!

Great Yoshi game

I bought into this game after really enjoying Yoshi's Wooly World on Wii U (and 3DS). Yoshi games offer a decent amount of challenge comparable to Kirby games, but are typically a little less so than a good Mario title. The challenge in this game is more in exploring stages well enough to locate each of the stages roughly six to eight flowers and 20 red coins. You'll need the flowers to progress to new worlds, and (mild spoiler) there are a few worlds that will require more of these to reach once you beat the game.
Graphically the game looks great running on the Unreal engine. Everything takes on a paper craft look with Yoshi looking more like a stuffed animal. As you earn coins in game you will use them exclusively to buy capsules that contain unique paper craft costumes that work as a bonus health shield in game. Capsules and costumes are random but if you buy all capsules from a particular machine you will eventually unlock all that machine has to offer with no duplicates. So while the costumes are random it's not a blind bag situation and all costumes are eventually unlocked.
The only complaint I can level against the game is the soundtrack. It does offer some great music with unique songs, but soooo many levels play the same main theme song with only light alterations. Main stages, spooky stages, all use the same melody.
All around I highly recommend the game. If you love exploration in games and mild to moderate challenge this game is great with a lot of content to offer. Once you've beaten a stage you are able to go back and find three "Poochies" playing the stage in reverse with the opposite perspective. You'll also be tasked by a few in game characters of finding special objects in stages after you've played through the stage once. Then trying to find enough coins to unlock all costumes or all costumes you want adds a lot of replayability to this fun game. Just be aware the soundtrack uses the same melody over and over again but in slightly nuanced ways.

Great game for both adults and kids. Has enough challenge in some of the levels to keep things interesting, and a solid 2 player mode that my 4 year old really enjoys. The fact that you can switch between mellow mode and classic mode anytime makes it easy to let the kids play when they want to.

It's baby-tier easy (I literally fell asleep once and woke up having beat the level) and the game should really have more than one song, but overall it was pretty simple, straightforward fun. Not a groundbreaking, life-changing experience, but decent nonetheless.

I absolutely loved Yoshi for Wii U and was excited to get this game and, for the most part, am not disappointed. First off, the game looks absolutely beautiful with a remarkable art style that takes advantage of what the Switch can pull off even though it's not a high-end system like PS4 or Xbox One X. It controls wonderfully, albeit I have to use control scheme B. The levels and bosses I have faced show the care the designers took in creating the game. My only real gripe is that to do everything you have to visit levels multiple times. This can get a little cumbersome and boring on a 3rd or 4th playthrough of a level simply to find a collectible. The levels are great, but not so great or challenging that I want to keep visiting them. Aside from that, it has overall been a fun experience with the game.

Its a solid platformer with fresh ideas that rarely get recycled, however the only downer is the music, its not as good as whooly world but its far better that other previus entries except the original yoshis island game. The musics really not bad though, it just rarely steps outside the main theme, its fittingly atmospheric alot of the time, but you may get a bit tired of the game if you try and run through it all in a week. Take your time with this one, its a chill platformer so dont rush it and youll probably enjoy it. Its not for everyone though and is more on the childish side even moreso than usual. As far as challange goes its not brutal or unfair, there are some segments where i got more than a few game overs but i wasnt pulling out my hair over it or anything.

So the Yoshi game that had been hyped ever since the Switch's nascent period has finally arrived: Yoshi's Crafted World. It had been several years since Yoshi's Woolly World for Wii U (which has since received a 3DS remake) so Yoshi fans were glad to have something to which they could look forward. Did it live up to the hype? I'd say yes, but it doesn't exceed expectations. Then again, I wasn't expecting it to. If you're a fan of the Yoshi's Island style of gameplay, this game will add an extra dimension to it and is a lot of fun. Just don't expect it to blow your mind or anything; it's a Yoshi game, no more and no less. If that's what you like, it is definitely a worthy title for Switch owners. A note about co-op: It can get pretty challenging with 2 players getting in each other's way going through a level. You keep eating each other or hopping on each other's back. Sometimes those are good strategies, but usually they're unplanned annoyances. Just something to bear in mind. Co-op can still be a lot of fun when you're aware of these annoyances and can plan around them. To veteran players: The default button layout is fine, but there is an option to switch to the SNES controls, which were more familiar. One more thing: If you have a Yarn Yoshi amiibo, you may want to dig it out. ;-)

This game is easy to pick up and fun to play. You go through each level fighting enemies, solving simple yet engaging puzzles and collecting items and collectibles to progress through each level. All the levels are designed really well and as you complete each level you will progress farther in the story. Each level is replayable as you can go back and try to find all the collectibles which will lead you to new costumes your yoshi’s can wear.

Most reviews/opinions I’ve seen of this game point out how easy it is, but I think that’s missing what makes this game great. The gameplay is solid and fun, the level designs are creative, and the art direction is phenomenal. I play games to have fun, and that doesn’t always mean it needs to be super challenging. If you can appreciate this game for what it is- a beautiful, laid-back experience- then I think you’ll enjoy it.

I was so sad when this game came out in april of 2019 and the reviews were so flat and boring about this new yoshi game.
I’m a big fan of nintendo’s dinosaur and it’s a shame they haven’t given yoshi the main attention he needed for a long time, so a A new mediocre game For yoshi was not what I was hoping. Anyway, I bought it in November and I had a great surprise. It’s not the best game ever, I agree, but the new mechanic of turning the 2d scenario is really good. The music is nice and the graphics are top notch! They just didn’t catch the difficult of the game. It a nice game and I really recommend it. If you have kids, it’s perfect to play with them.

I picked this game up as a fan of the series. I was expecting a light, easy-going platformer and that is pretty much what this is. A lot is changed from the series' standard formula, and I'll address that at the end.
In terms of the gameplay: It is a platformer, you play as yoshi and run through various themed stages, jumping or tossing eggs to progress. Each stage is very linear and 2-3 stages make up a "world" which has a consistent them across stages. The stages can be done quickly or slowly. Personally, I'm for the slow pace because there's an impressive amount of detail to enjoy each level. Beating each level should be straightforward, but there are several collectibles that require a little exploration and skill to collect. There are, unique to this version, side quests where you're tasked with going into the level and finding an object. I've found some of these objects surprisingly tough to find. These quests add a lot to replay value to levels.
The characters in the game are nice and friendly, I find them to be uplifting.
In breaks from the series:
- Side Quests
- Instead of 6 worlds with 8 levels each, there are several smaller worlds with 2-3 levels. These smaller worlds are significantly more detailed than in prior games and there's a larger variety of stage, which is something I was initially hesitant about but see it as a welcome change.
- The way eggs are tossed is now position via the joystick / cursor, instead of oscillating up and down. I dislike this because it takes longer to throw sometimes, but it's a needed change for the gimmicks of this game.
- Woolly World had badges which assisted players through levels, instead Crafted World has costumes (which are fun to dress Yoshi up in) that simply add additional health (very helpful).

This is a gift of Happiness for my Daughter. She loves Yoshi games. Ever since the first one game out on the SNES (Yoshi’s Island), they have always been enjoyable.
The graphics for Crafted a World are stunning and the mechanics in the game are very creative. I just wish more time was spent on difficulty rather than forcing you to replay the levels just to find items. It was a bit of a grind.

As an adult gamer, its nice to take a break from the more violent and mature games on PlayStation or Xbox, and Yoshi's Crafted World has been one of my favorite experiences on Nintendo Switch. The difficulty is on the easier side, which makes for a fun casual, experience and a great way to wind down from a stressful day. Cute characters, creative level design, and colorful graphics make for a really fun game.

Graphics have a nice artistic style and the frame rate during levels is a nice 60 fps. Music is okay, but forgettable. Egg aiming mechanic worse than older Yoshi titles. Requires multiple playthroughs of each level to get all collectibles, of which you use those collectibles as currency to progress to new areas.
I'd rate closer to a 3.5/5, but you can't so I rounded up. Not as good as previous in the series, but still an okay platformer. Despite some of the negatives listed, kids and fans of Yoshi should still have a good time with Yoshi's Crafted World.
