One cannot go without one of these, for 8 bucks BestBuy installs it and if it breaks, they replace it for free, providing you come in with the broken glass.

It’s glass. It protects the screen. I can see through it. It comes with a kit that helps you line it up properly. What more can I say? It works as advertised.
