We've had Zaggs on all our phones and they are good for small scratches and light dings. However, with the newer, more rugged glass on the phones it seems the breaking point is about the same for the Zagg as the screen itself. We had one of these on an iPhone 7 and the first hit to the Zagg took out the screen as well. I'm sure they're sturdy, but not sure they're necessary if they have the same breaking point as the glass.

My first one cracked slowly but surely over the course of 5-6 months. They have a warranty, but they dont make it easy to get a replacement. My second one cracked, and the iphone glass underneath cracked as well, but that was my fault. I had to chuck my phone in an emergency situation. I bought a third one now with the privacy feature, and this time bought an Apple rubber case with extra battery. Its a pricey way to go though.
