The knives are selling point of this product. The cutting board is purely extra as it fell apart cleanly down the center when first used... into the trash it went... it is 100% bamboo but it it all end grain pieces glued together so the integrity was never there... ANYWAYS, sans board, still 5 STARS: the price is better than the zwilling website's for each piece if purchased separately... the knives are ZWILLING PRO, for those who seek them, and are just like the others in the line: german-made, forged, single piece, ice hardened steel, pinch grip bolster, yada yada yada... the 5.5" prep knife is a good middle-sized knife for those tasks that dont quite need a full size chef's knife, figure cutting large tomatoes, apples, lettuce, carrots, and as i have used it for cutting sandwiches on the diagonal... the 4" paring knife is just that a 4" paring knife... it is good for hulling large strawberries and slicing up 2 bananas in one go. the shears are the $20 ones you see on the zwilling website and hold their edge well and are the go to for chicken bones and plastic packages.... the sharpener is made in china and has 15 degree edge slots for coarse and fine sharpening... the base has a rubber foot that prevents sliding on the counter... I would buy this again... WARNING EXTREMELY SHARP!!! packaging had the knives cutting through the plastic that secured them... the UPS box they were shipped in almost lost the battle while in transit... the set was self opening as my husband put it

First nice knife set we buy and these knives are excellent. Cuts through meats, veggies etc.
