Best phone I've ever owned
||Posted .Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed.Beautiful bright display, excellent cameras for photos and video. It has a fun "Single take" feature that records a short video and snaps several photos as you pan your shot for about 15 seconds, then arranges the photos and short video clips in a collage that you can edit, keep, or delete as you wish. I wouldn't buy the phone just for this but it's a fun addition. The phone's processor is extremely powerful. Even with multiple apps open there is never a glitch or slow down. Everything is fast, smooth and reliable. I use my screen in 120hz mode and videos, animations, and scrolling are the smoothest I've seen on any screen anywhere. Expert reviews say 120hz drains battery faster but I get through a full day of use with power to spare. If you're a super heavy user you can switch to 60hz mode to save power. It's still great but not quite as buttery smooth. I'm not a gamer so I can't address that. Everything else I do on this phone is smooth and effortless. For example, Android Auto with my old Nexus 6P worked, but everything was laggy and sometimes glitchy. I thought it was Android Auto problem because 6P was a decent phone. Nope. Galaxy S20 runs it fast and solid with no glitches. My in-car experience is way better now. The more I live with this phone on a daily basis the more I like it. It is a great tool that enhances my experience no matter what I'm using it for. I agree the S20 line is very expensive, but if you don't need the huge screen on the plus or ultra (I actually like the smaller pocketable size better), the S20 cost is in line with other flagship phones and is a top quality product. Watch for sales and promotions. This unlocked version was $200 off for a short time so I snatched one. Btw I use this on T-Mobile and it works great for cellular and 4g LTE. There's no 5g in my area yet so I haven't tested that yet.

Not much of a compromise
||Posted .Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed.I upgraded from my Note 9 to this (since my lease ends). My hand is average size. Buying Decision: ----------------------- S20 Ultra was too big and way out of my budget. Debate was between S20+ and S20. I liked the smaller form factor of the S20, comfortable to hold one handed. Main differences between S20 and S20+: - Display Size : I was happy with S20 size - Battery : 4000mAh is good enough through a normal day - TOF sensor: I never noticed a difference in live focus when I tested. I don't use live focus anyways as its not perfect yet. What I think so far ------------------------- 1. 120hz is smooth 2. Better phone for small hands. I am still having difficulties typing coming from Note 9 though :). May be taking time to get used to 3. If you want no-loss photo the reality is 3x zoom, more than that you lose quality considerably. 4. Enjoying the wide angle camera. 5. Punch hole still bothers me a bit, if I had owned my Note 9, probably would have waited another year for the under display selfie camera (I hope so) 6. Pro video mode is awesome 7. Video Stabilization is not great 8. In display finger print scanner can be improved 9. I miss headphone jack. 10. Samsung made right decision to go easy on the curve :) 11. 5G is not quite there Overall I reckon S20 and S20+ are the go to S20 series. Size should be the main deciding factor. If you plan to buy now, I would recommend to wait to see what One plus 8 has to offer.

Great Phone
||Posted .Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed.I bought this for my wife recently since we were going on our own cell phone plan. We got the unlocked model incase we wanted to switch carriers. She loves it. It is a big improvement over the Samsung Galaxy A10 that she had before. The camera quality is very good , if not exceptional compared to the S9 which I currently have. I will eventually upgrade to this phone for myself when I can afford it. I played around with it and I notice there was no preinstalled carrier bloatware which was very nice (unlocked). I am sure the other ones that are carrier locked come with that stuff. After playing around with the phone, it has a very similar feel to the S9 and S10. Volume buttons are placed on the same side as the power button, which is hard to get used to that. Setting up the fingerprint reader is pretty easy, only thing is if you have a crappy screen protector, it may interfere with that. Its very fast, start up time is quick. I am sure there are other features of the phone I have yet to discover, I will find those over time. The only down side I see is that this does not have a headphone jack. I am not going to dock it point for that for that. Most phone manufacturers are going away with the 3.5mm jack (sadly). The headphones that come with use the USB-C connection where you charge your phone. Since this phone has better battery life, I suppose you would not need to use the charger as often when using headphones, but that would depend on the user. The headphones are pretty good with sound quality. They are not bad, not the worst I have used. All in all, an excellent phone that I would highly recommend.

It Just Works!
||Posted .Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed.Coming from the iPhone X to this phone is a real delight. My first favorite thing about this phone is SPEED! From 5G to the 120 hertz screen it is so refreshing. In addition I was feeling limited on iPhone from just the simple fact that Apple apps are the default. The first thing I changed from a ease of use stand point for my self is enable gestures for home, back, and multitasking. The fingerprint scanner is so nice to have with COVID requiring everyone to wear a mask that makes faceID useless. A couple of years ago I couldn't say that my Android was as smooth as an iPhone. Now I have to say hands down the S20 has my iPhone beat in smoothness on the OS side to opening apps. Customization is so nice to have as well. I love being able to tell google "Play music" and instead of playing apple music it plays Spotify. Or if a friend sends you a text with a link to a website it will open Chrome, Firefox or any browser I set it to! I own a car with Apple Carplay and Android Auto. After using Android Auto coming from Apple Carplay Android Auto is just better. Google Maps is your default search for addresses. Which is nice. Because Google Maps actually knows where buildings are located along a street verses Apple Maps. Subjecting you to find address numbers the old fashion way looking for the number on the building.

Still a beast of a phone in 2022
||Posted .Owned for 1 year when reviewed.Still a beast of a phone in 2022. Later models haven't improved on a lot. This phone also feels better in the hand and has a higher screen resolution than the S21. It's plenty fast, has a great camera array, the screen is bright and gorgeous.

Still holding up amazingly 2 years later
||Posted .Owned for 1 year when reviewed. If you are looking to purchase this phone, being about 2 generation behind, it is a good buy. My phone has been working great no breaks, hardware and/or software issues, and touch screen is amazing. I try to keep a phone till I am actually forced to buy another for whatever reason, and the only reason for this phone could be it literally dying on me (which i cant see happening anytime soon and like I mean a year or two from how it performs still now), or Memory issues, which can be fixed with an SD card to an extent. I play multiple mobile games so about 30-40GB of storage are those and not all of those (actually a few) can be stored on SD cards. So if you dont have big apps/files that can't be stored on an SD card, storage wont be a problem. I'm not sure of current price as of writing this review, but if price is a point, and you are questioning it's performace, don't worry it will be a good budget flag ship option. SD card transferred,

Q: QuestionCan I buy this unlocked S20 and use it on the Verizon network? (I do not want the Verizon S20 UW phone, because it only has 8GB of RAM and it does not have an SD card slot.) Will sacrifice any features by buying this unlocked version of the S20? Thanks!
Asked by sf.
- A:Answer yes, this unlocked phone will work on any network. I bought this phone about 2 months ago. I have att but my wife has Verizon (different work plans) and her sim card works in my phone no problems. Unlocked basically just means you get the phone as the manufacturer built it, with the stock manufacturer version of Android. Buying the carrier version is essentially the same except that they put their own slightly different version of Android on it (locking the radios to only work on a given provider as well as putting different apps on the phone right out of the box).
