Great phone once you get past the flaws & hype
Posted .Features
Quality5 out of 5Value4 out of 5Ease of Use5 out of 5Pros mentioned:Camera, Features, Photo qualityCons mentioned:SoftwareHere's the truth about the GS20 Ultra...it was marketed on gimmick features instead of the core features and I think that was a mistake. The screen is great, the battery life is great, it's fast, and the cameras are great with an *. The core features shine but the gimmicks are where this phone comes up short and that's why reviews are mixed. Here are the cons: - Great screen that makes watching videos and movie content look amazing. Best screen of any smartphone. - Great battery life if you turn off the 120Hz refresh rate and use the highest resolution. - The new Snapdragon chip makes this phone fast and smooth. With plenty of RAM I've had no slowdown or lag. - The cameras take great pics that show lots of details. I gave the cameras an * though because I'm not a person who zooms in when taking pics. So far the zoom pics are ok but not as good as advertised. - Comes with the ability to get 5G service. Right now 5G is very limited though and hard to find. Cons: - The price of this phone is very high and probably a deal breaker for most. I was given a $300 trade in plus a $300 store credit. Without those discounts I'd pass on this phone. - Too many advertised gimmicks that fail to live up to the hype. 100 times zoom photos are grainy and bad, 8K videos can't be seen in 8K unless you go buy an 8K TV, and the 108MP photos barely look better than the 12MP photos. The 120Hz refresh rate is cool but after 2 days your eyes get used to it and you don't notice it. The iPad Pro has a 120Hz screen but it doesn't make 60Hz screens seem "slow". - Only available in 2 colors right now. - Samsung is slow with bug fixes and software updates especially compared to the iPhone. A new iPhone always has access to the newest and most current version of iOS but new Samsung phones don't get the newest version of Android for 6 months so they tend to run old Android software. Bottom line...buy this phone for the screen, battery life, speed, and cameras but don't buy it for the advertised gimmicks and "special features". I own the iPhone 11 Pro Max also so I have no bias and focused on the user experience instead of focusing on which phone is "better". By the end of the year this will still be the best overall Android phone and that matters when you are paying this much for a phone.

Quality5 out of 5Value5 out of 5Ease of Use5 out of 5Pros mentioned:Photo quality, Screen quality, Speed#1 - the screen recorder is excellent & the editor is great. #2 - the ability to take UHD images that allow you to put on acrylic is pretty sweet. I got the 12ram | 128. You need to get a large sim card. If you take pics in 108mp mode and shoot in 8k, you'll drain quick. I'm a nerd, this thing is awesome and worth the 1.5k. Questionable: i have 12gigs ram, but it runs with 3.8-4.5 regularly.

Excellent Flagship Smartphone
|Posted .Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed.Features
Quality5 out of 5Value5 out of 5Ease of Use5 out of 52020 has been a long, strange year for me with smartphone purchases, and by far this is my absolute favorite. I bought and returned the Samsung A50 (I was really underwhelmed by it), I bought and returned an iPhone 11 (while there's undeniable good aspects to iOS, Apple keeps the platform so locked down compared to Android OS that it's really kind of painful) and otherwise I've been using a Moto G7 and a Moto G Power. However, the Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra is, without a doubt, the Cadillac of the Android platform. Its *very* fluid and quick (and that's not even using the 120 Hz refresh mode it's also capable of) and their own graphical environment, One UI, has really come into its own with v. 3.0, which is what ships on this phone. In my opinion, having had a chance to compare it to Google's own stock user interface as well as the latest from Apple's iOS, it strikes a very good balance between being functional and being pleasant to look at. If you're on the fence debating between an iPhone and an Android-running phone, seriously consider one of the Samsung Galaxy S20 (or S21) phones.

Quality5 out of 5Value5 out of 5Ease of Use5 out of 5Its been almost a month since I purchased the brand new s20 ultra. Received it 3 days after purchase, was pretty happy that the signature verification method actually meant that versus just saying it and then finding the boxed device on my doorstep after hours.. it was in fact as stated, new unused etc.. Not a single reason to believe otherwise. Plus, best buy has all the resources you'd need with a phone purchase, and an authorized samsung dealer and service center. I've used best buys service for awhile and have never been left unhappy or with any expectation (based on online statements and reviews) unmet.. I cannot say the same for samsung, which is exactly why I chose best buy for the purchase. They will back anything they sell without excuses or issues. Excellent everything with best buy and the s20.

Q: QuestionHi does the S20 ULTRA 512GB version is dual sim or single sim..
Asked by xnawani.
- A:Answer The S20 Ultra phone, regardless of memory, comes in 2 versions. The USA version is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon, and the non US version is powered by the Samsung Exynos chips. The US version does not have the dual/hybrid SIM card tray that can either hold one SIM card and a MicroSD memory card, or hold 2 SIM cards. The USA variant has a SIM card tray that holds one SIM card, and optionally, a MicroSD memory card. My understanding is that the non USA versions are GSM only, so can handle 2 SIM cards. USA variants will have to support CDMA (Sprint or Verizon) carriers, so dual physical SIM cards are not supported in the USA version. Having said this, the Samsung website says that eSIM is supported on these phones, but they don't clearly state if both US and non-US variants support eSIM. The eSIM will give us the ability to use 2 phone lines. However, when I played with a S20 Ultra demo device at a Best Buy store, I saw there was no software ability to add a new eSIM. This ability is in the System Preferences -> Manage Connections -> Manage SIM Card section on the Galaxy Fold device, but the S20 Ultra did not have that menu item. So, my guess is that either the USA variant does not support eSIMS at all, or Samsung may add this ability in a future software update. This is a big miss from Samsung in my opinion, because I cannot migrate away from my iPhone 11 that works great with eSIMs and a physical SIM card. Sadly, the reporters who wrote online reviews for this phone from the announcement to the launch date only focused on reviewing the camera on this device and complained about lack of 120Hz refresh at high resolution, battery running out soon at high refresh rates, the steep price, and ignored to write about things that matter to the rest of us, such as eSIM support, call quality, speaker quality, face recognition speed and fingerprint sensor performance. I will have to evaluate these myself after getting a device in my hands for a few hours.
