FAQ

A depth of field lens is designed to control the area of sharp focus in a photograph by adjusting the aperture and focal length. These lenses allow photographers to create images with a blurred background (shallow depth of field) or keep more of the scene in focus (deep depth of field), enhancing creative possibilities.

Depth of field lenses are especially popular in portrait, macro, and landscape photography. Portrait photographers use them to isolate subjects from backgrounds, while landscape photographers may use them to keep both foreground and background in focus.

Many depth of field lenses are available in mounts compatible with both DSLR and mirrorless cameras. Be sure to check the lens mount type and your camera’s compatibility before purchasing.

A wider aperture (lower f-number) creates a shallower depth of field, resulting in more background blur. A narrower aperture (higher f-number) increases depth of field, keeping more of the image in focus. Adjusting the aperture on depth of field lenses gives you creative control over your photos.

Some depth of field lenses offer features such as fast maximum apertures, advanced optical coatings, and image stabilization. These features can enhance image quality, reduce lens flare, and help achieve the desired depth of field effects even in challenging lighting conditions.
