Unlike time-delay or slow-blow fuses, which are designed to tolerate certain brief current surges, quick blow fuses respond more readily to overcurrent and are typically used where substantial startup surges are not expected. The transparent glass housing may allow you to spot a broken element or discoloration, but appearance alone does not confirm whether a fuse is working. With the equipment disconnected from power and the fuse safely removed according to the manufacturer’s instructions, a continuity test with a multimeter can help identify a blown fuse. Choosing a replacement quick blow glass fuse requires matching more than its appearance or physical fit. Check the equipment manual or original fuse markings for the specified current rating, voltage rating, fast-acting characteristic, dimensions and interrupting rating, along with any required safety approvals.
