About This Item

Long before Marc Ribot made a name for himself as a pioneering force in NYC's downtown music scene, and as guitarist for luminaries like Tom Waits, Wilson Pickett and The Lounge Lizards, he began his guitar studies as a teenager with close family friend, the Father of Haitian classical guitar, Frantz Casséus. In 1946, Frantz came to NYC from his native Port-au-Prince, Haiti with the ambition to compose a distinctly Haitian classical guitar music, to fuse the European classical tradition with Haitian folk elements as Heitor Villa-Lobos had done with his native Brazil's and as Béla Bartók had done with Hungarian folk songs. His three recordings, Haitian Folks Songs (1953), Haitian Dances (1954) and Haitiana (1969) were released on Folkway Recordings (and since reissued by Smithsonian Folkways) and his compositions have been covered by artists worldwide including the song InchMerci bon dieuInch by Harry Belafonte. In effort to preserve Frantz's musical legacy, Marc edited a collection of Casseus' solo guitar compositions, and performed those same pieces on his 1993 album InchMarc Ribot Plays Solo Guitar Works of Frantz CasseusInch. This remastered and expanded edition, with three additional bonus tracks recorded in 2020, marks the first time Marc's interpretations of this work is available on vinyl. Also available again on CD Album Tracks 1. Simbi 2. Rara 3. Prelude #2 4. Haitian Suite Petro 5. Haitian Suite Yanvalloux 6. Haitian Suite Mascaron 7. Haitian Suite Coumbite (Merci Bon Dieu) 8. Genesis - Abacab - VINYL LP

Limited 180 gram vinyl LP repressing of this album by the iconic British outfit. Phil Collins might be swinging away the late 1990s, but in 1981 he was sharpening his pop chops, from his first solo offering to this, the first Genesis album to break the hallowed million-copy mark stateside. But Abacab wasn't entirely about charting Top 40 singles (InchNo Reply At All,Inch InchMan on the Corner,Inch and the title track); it still exhibited some late-stage evidence of a trio courting the art-rock muse that had graced it's past (InchWho Dunnit,Inch InchDodo,Inch InchKeep It DarkInch). However, by 1983's eponymous follow-up, the hit factory that was Genesis in the mid- to late-1980s was operating full steam ahead, and the angel Gabriel's specter had all but vanished. Then, there were truly only three. Album Tracks 1. Abacab 7 02 2. No Reply At All 4 41 3. Me And Sarah Jane 6 00 4. Keep It Dark 4 34 1. Dodo / Lurker 7 30 2. Who Dunnit? 3 22 3. Architects - All Our Gods Have Abandoned Us - VINYL LP

Vinyl LP pressing includes digital download. Architects UK are a band who've never shied away from challenging the world around them. Long lauded as some of modern metal's most progressive-thinking minds, for the past decade, the quintet have pushed boundaries, redefined genres, and never feared having to question themselves in order for their art to leave it's mark on this Earth. Architects UK, are a band like few others; The quintet all practice a vegan lifestyle, tour with a consciousness about their footprint on the world, and devote time and energies to environmental causes. Their 7th studio album, All Out Gods Have Abandoned Us is the heaviest and darkest work to which the band have ever put their name, both on and below it's surface. InchTo me, All Our Gods... is about getting to the root of the dysfunctions and disillusionment that cause all of this mess, be it personal or political or environmental,Inch says Architects UK guitarist and principle songwriter, Tom Searle. Architects UK lineup also includes Tom's twin brother Dan on drums, Sam Carter on lead vocals, guitarist Adam Christianson and Ali Dean on bass. For the follow-up to their 2014 album Lost Forever/Lost Together, Architects UK returned to Gothenburg's Studio Fredman and the production team of Fredrik Nordström and Henrik Udd and it was they who would once again be entrusted to help translate the tracks penned by Tom Searle into a reality. Album Tracks 1. Nihilist 2. Deathwish 3. Phantom Fear 4. Downfall 5. Gone with the Wind 6. The Empty Hourglass 7. A Match Made in Heaven 8. Gravity 9. All Love Is Lost 10. From the Wilderness 11. Memento Mori
