Q. What is a Best Buy Teen Tech Center®?

A. Best Buy Teen Tech Centers are an initiative of the Best Buy Foundation, a 501(c)(3) organization founded by Best Buy in 1994 to support opportunities for children and teens in disinvested communities. Best Buy Teen Tech Centers are safe, after-school learning environments equipped with cutting-edge technology. Participating youth learn new skills, stay on track with school, nurture positive adult and peer relationships and prepare for the careers of the future. Q. Why is Best Buy asking for donations to support Teen Tech Centers? 

A. Best Buy rallies with vendor partners, customers, employees and the community to support the Teen Tech Center program through direct contributions to the Best Buy Foundation. Best Buy is the primary financial supporter for the Best Buy Foundation, its programs and its grant-making activity. We know that together we can do more. Join us to brighten futures for teens through tech by adding a donation to your purchase in stores or online after you complete your order.

Q. If I donate, how much of my donation goes directly to Teen Tech Centers?

A. All donations go to the Best Buy Foundation in support of Teen Tech Centers.

Q. Can I specify where my donation goes (for example, choose a Teen Tech Center in a specific area like my hometown)?

A. We don’t have the capability to designate donations to specific locations at this time.

Q. How will my donation be used?

A. Best Buy Teen Tech Centers provide tech access, training and mentorship to young people in disinvested communities. Your donation will support teens across up to 100 locations by 2025.

Q. If I donate, will I begin to receive marketing emails?

A. Donating will not impact your current preferences for receiving marketing emails. 

Q. Is my donation tax-deductible?

A. The Best Buy Foundation is a 501(c)(3) charitable organization. Your donation is tax-deductible as allowed by law, and your donation is solely your own. Best Buy does not receive any material benefit because you opt to donate to the Best Buy Foundation at checkout and serves solely as the facilitator for your donation.

Q. Will I receive a receipt for my donation? 

A. Your donation will be noted as a separate line on the receipt you receive in store with your purchase. You will also receive an email with your in-store donation information if you provide an email address, except when the donation is made at Magnolia® Design Centers or Pacific Sales® standalone stores. If you make an online donation, you’ll receive an email with your donation information. 

Q. If I make an online donation as a guest, will I receive a receipt for my donation?

A. You’ll receive an email with your donation information for any online donation, whether logged in to your account or made as a guest. 

Q. If I donate, will my information be shared with other companies?

A. Best Buy will share your information with the Best Buy Foundation and will not share your donation information with other companies.

Q. What payment types can be used to make a donation?

A. For in-store donations, all forms of payment are accepted. Online, only credit card payments are accepted for donations. Currently, we cannot accept the following payment types for online donations: Apple Pay, PayPal or gift cards.

Q. Why was I not asked to make a donation on my BestBuy.com order?

A. Only orders paid with a credit card will be given the option for donation.

Q. What other ways does Best Buy support the community?

Q. If I return my purchase, what happens to my donation?

A. The product will be returned, but the donation will not.

Q. If I made a donation that I would like to cancel, how can I do that?

A. Donations made through Point of Sale (POS) can be returned at any store or by calling Best Buy Customer Care at 1-888-BEST BUY (1-888-237-8289).

Q. My company matches gifts to 501(c)(3) organizations. Are Teen Tech Centers eligible to receive this type of match?

A. The Best Buy Foundation is a 501(c)(3), so your donation may be eligible for matching, subject to your company’s rules for matching and applicable laws.

Q: How do my purchases at Best Buy contribute to Teen Tech Centers?

A: Best Buy donates a portion of its profits to the Best Buy Foundation which funds the Best Buy Teen Tech Centers. Your purchases provide us the ability to fund these programs.
