Based on the true story of a reluctant partnership between civil rights activist Ann Atwater (Taraji P. Henson) and C.P. Ellis (Sam Rockwell), the leader of the white supremacist group Ku Klux Klan, who came together to discuss the issue of racial desegregation of schools in 1971 Durham, North Carolina, which eventually lead to surprising outcomes for them and the entire community. Directed by Robin Bissell.~Phil Griffin
I loved this movie and am surprised that it didn't get any Oscar nominations. The acting was wonderful. It's a true story about Durham NC in the 70's. I now live in NC and would drive in Durham and see the names Ellis and Atwater all over the place but never knew who they were. Now I know. The subject matter was dealt with very seriously and yet with sensitivity that gave humanity to each character and their situation. Give it a try and you won't be sorry.
The two main actors in the movie did a truly amazing job of portraying this incredible story ! I really appreciate knowing about this unique relationship .
And I always appreciate when best buy packages the Blu-ray and the DVD together. I keep one and give the other as a gift for a family member .
I also had reward certificates, which made this a real bargain!
Love love love this movie. Movie featured strong lead characters old and new supporting characters whom carried the movie and keep your attention throughout. The movie had a strong message one that we can all learn from as we are experiencing some of these issues today. I see this as a must see movie sharing some history lessons and a lot of fun, big bang for your buck.
Love this movie! Very inspiring about two people coming together as one. who couldn’t stand each other but He realize and question what was he really fighting for and a friendship that was 30 years of Love.
This movie is from a dark time in America that shows us that we aren't different from each other and if we talk we can make things happen. The stars Taraj P. and Sam Rockwell are outstanding in their roles.
