Steven Spielberg directed this adaptation of Roald Dahl's beloved novel, which centers on the unlikely friendship between a lonely orphan named Sophie (Ruby Barnhill) and the titular "big friendly giant" (brought to life via a motion-capture performance from Mark Rylance). Together, the pair explore Giant Country and collect dreams; later, they try to warn the Queen of England (Penelope Wilton) about the threat posed by the other giants, who, unlike the vegetarian BFG, eat children for sustenance. The BFG made its world premiere at the 2016 Cannes Film Festival, and is dedicated to the memory of screenwriter Melissa Mathison (who also wrote the script for Spielberg's E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial). Rebecca Hall, Bill Hader, Jemaine Clement, and Rafe Spall co-star.~Jack Rodgers

Steven Spielberg is a genius and has brought us a masterpiece in this thoroughly enjoyable film. Lovely story was written by Roald Dahl and brought to life through the magic of digital photography that was amazingly realistic. I enjoyed every minute.
I teach. I actually read this book with my class a few months before the movie came out. We ended up going to see this together and it did not disappoint. The movie was good, and the DVD package was great, but honestly I can't get over the music of it. John Williams (Star Wars, Jurassic Park, Indiana Jones, etc.) knocked it out of the park with this score. The depth he brought to the project is incredible and I remember sitting in the movie theater thinking how great it was even before I knew who the composer was. The movie was good. John Williams makes it better.
BFG is a really good movie. I like the characters. When I seen the previews I did not want to see this movie. Thought it would be whack, but I actually ended up liking it a lot. Its funny, whimsical and entertaining. I'm glad I rented it once and now own it .
Kids and adults of all ages will love this movie. With Spielberg directing you never go wrong. A must have. So much details and wonderful creation of characters and worlds , Watch it once for the story and again right away for the amazing details.
